as one of the people affected by this it was absolutely horrifying. when it got stuck nobody seemed to realize for about 3 minutes which was so damn scarry. the last 10 or so minutes everyone was shouting in agony as others has blood vessels in their face burst and make red dots. i REALLY hope the ride gets help and gets better maintenence.

I am 61, and crazy enough to go on rides like this. I am so so sorry for you! I cannot imagine what would have happened to me if I were to do a ride like that again. Do you happen to know if this was like a ride called the Screaming Eagle? I ask because I am local and been to Oaks Park many, many times. This ride looks like that one. It would have been there a few years back.

Because it's soooooo common 😂.. it's extremely rare for something like this to happen, although it is a possibility and sometimes it does happen but these amusement parks go year after year after year after year without any problems.. they all have to be inspected by the state before they can even put these rides in operation

Is this like the slowest fire department on the entire planet 20 minutes seriously I've never heard of anybody moving that slow. I mean, they could've push the firetruck faster than that.
Not the first safety issue Oaks Park has had. 18 years ago, an attendant did not put the restraints over my son and I on a roller coaster. We did the ride in terror as they couldn't fix it. I was badly bruised and my son would've been thrown out of his seat if I wasn't holding onto him. The park was dismissive about it afterward. No one seemed to care. They finally paid me $1,000 after the state got involved. I could have gone to the media.
Why would you stay on the ride if they didn't put the restraints over you? You would have had time to say something, no?

as an affected person on the ride nobody was near death but several passed out. it likely takes much longer to cause major damage but the pain in my legs and eventually testicles (not a joke) was excruciating.

For the people ho are wondering what happened. they were stuck up side down for 30 minutes, they tried to get the ride back down but failed after a couple minutes they called firefighters and when they came they got the ride dawn, some people went unconscious and couldn’t feel their legs, but all of the 20 to 30 people that were on the ride made it of safely.

This is the second time the ride broke. I was at the park last year and they shut down the ride shortly after opening due to mechanical problems. I cant believe it broke down a second time and it wouldve been so terrifying to be stuck on it.
You'd think Places like oaks park are safer than those traveling parking lot carnivals, but the truth is oaks park only has to get inspected every 6 months, as opposed to the traveling carnivals that have to have a safety inspector take a look every week when they move spots.
Every time a ride is setup it needs a safety inspection. Rides that don't get moved and setup elsewhere only get checked every 6 months.
These places are not safe.

This ride should have a system that keeps it from getting stuck upside down. How hard would that be?
The ride manufacturer is Zamperla, a company known for ride problems. This is the company that turned Cedar Point's Top Thrill Dragster into Top Thrill 2, which was only open for a week or so, and is now in extended closure as modifications are made.
What I don't get is that if fire crews could "manually move the ride down in seconds after arriving", then why aren't the ride operators trained to do that? Does the park consider using proper emergency protocols to be a potential financial risk to them? I mean, some of the families of the riders are probably going to sue them for negligence over that. I know I would, as personal injury cases, especially unusually horrifying ones, get people hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in compensation.
Hopefully you guys recover soon. Just thinking about that is terrifying.

At 1:00, the reporter says they were suspended “head over heels”, when in fact you see them at that moment with heels over head. I am now realizing that the phrase “head over heels” makes no sense. Our heads are always over are heels. Why do we say that to describe being upside down?

Thankfully I'm only into roller coasters even though they can have their moments too. It's that hanging upside down that would terrify me plus the initial shock of what exactly has happened here.
How did they actually get rescued? They've said it was a "ropes team" of the fire department but I'm not clear how they got them down.

2:15 they got it to swing down, somehow. This is the 3rd video I’ve seen on this. Amazingly no one has video of it coming down. News were too focused on interviews than collecting and reporting simple details, I guess.

I have not been to a Amusement Park since the last century. If I ever go again, I'll stick to the kids rides. Something safe like the teacup rides at Disneyland.

Looks to me like a sketchy small amusement park, kinda like the ones that come to town for the summer then leave.......
its been operating for about 100 years with pretty much no incident. being on the ride when this happened was terrifying!
It is actually a nice medium sized park along the Willamette river and has everything, including a concert stage and GOOD concerts, picnic tables and a Historical skating rink with an old school Pipe Organ that still plays. I'm 61, have gone there my entire life, no problems. Except occasional nausea from too many rides!!
I’ve been there like 4 times for my birthdays and it’s perfectly fine, I’ve been on that ride before to like 7 times, and I really don’t want the park to be shut down because of this

Yes, it’s like berserker at kings dominion where it rotates 360 degrees then back down in a full circle twice or something before losing steam and then the swings become less and less until the ride is over
