I bought the extra 95mm tray for when I want to use halation filters from Vaxis. That helps extends the front of the mattebox a little more, which does help with some clearance. When not in use, I just leave the empty 95mm filter holder in there. I do notice a small vignetting at 24mm, so gotta compromise.
My biggest gripe is that the motor that came with the mattebox instantly shuts off whenever activated while powered on through a USB-C cable. I can only power it via the battery, which blocks the filter tray.
your USB output has to be high enough. I've hooked it up to V-mounts and it shuts off because the draw is only 5v. I've also hooked it up to NPF batteries with 7.4v output and it works flawlessly
@@francogutierrez2356, my v mount is enough to fast charge my MacBook Pro, so I doubt that’s the issue. In fact, if it’s shutting off while plugged into the focus motor, then something is horribly wrong with it’s design.
Are you powering it via a DJI RS2/3? Some of the USB ports are too high of voltage. It needs to be 4.9/5v (the bottom two USB ports). If it's higher than 5v constant it will freeze. The voltage is displayed on the VND motor. If correct voltage, then I would contact Tilta and ask for a replacement.
@@micahokeiley, I’m using everything from all of the ports on the Ronin, to the extra port on the focus motor, to a v mount battery, and even the port on my Komodo X. Nothing works.
I am using it and it works for me with cable from tilta connected directly to ronin rs2 and I also have a second motor from Dji to control focus with 3D lidar focus motor pluged from rs2 second usb-c port, 3 port is used to record my camera.
Hi dude, Alvin cables could make the cable for you. I had to do this for another reason I wanted tu use my tiltamax focus handle in a shoulder rig and but my nucleus cable was to short so I asked them to do one of 1.2 m, they did it with an "L" shaped connector. I know you already solved the issue but I think it's worth to mention. Pardon my english :)

Im glad its working for you! No matter what I tried I couldn't get the nano motor to power up. The Mirage motor works great though!
I wonder would this problem be fixed now with the new Nano ii that is out this summer 23.
