I think the megacorp idea explains the future 'mons perfectly. They're all uniform even in naming convention, area all fully evolved pokemon and strong ones at that. It's easy to assume someone's weaponizing pokemon in this alternate timeline. Perhaps one where Team Rocket's MewTwo project was a rousing success. I'd like to learn more of what brought them out, but right now I'm just really wanting iron waifubot.

Then into the future some Pokemon are going extinct and so they had to start recreating and/or enhancing them in the future til they become a vague likeness of the original

I've also seen a theory floating around about how the "time machine" isn't really a time machine and it is instead creating these paradox pokemon from the professors imaginations, as Arven points out in the post game, Great Tusk/Iron Treads were documented in the Scarlet/Violet book long before the "time machine" was made which is what inspired Sada/Turo to build the "time machine" which according to this theory formed the other paradox pokemon and additional Great Tusks/Iron Treads from Sada and Turo's imagined ideas of other past/future pokemon, part of this theory is that the "3rd legendary" is responsible for this, there's also the fact that there's very little info on the past paradoxes despite the fact that if they really are past versions of pokemon there should be evidence of their existence like fossils and such.

    • @BioMasterZap
      @BioMasterZap Рік тому +8

Another explanation could be that either the time machine sent some back in time or somehow the original expedition ends up in the present time. I've seen some rumors that Heath might be featured in DLC somehow, so perhaps he got brought forward in time, saw the paradox pokemon post-time machine, then went back to write about them in the book. It would sure make them live up to the name "Paradox" pokemon, which is currently a bit strange rather than just calling them prehistoric/future pokemon.

@@geg708 Never say never. Something about the term "Paradox" and the fact that you can't get your exiting versions of these Pokémon to become Paradox forms through any form of evolution makes me think that none of these paradox Pokemon were meant to exist in this entire TIMELINE, let along time period, thus aren't actually connected to the Pokemon we know at all. Like they didn't actually exist, nor will exist, in this world's future or past at all, and instead came from entirely parallel timelines. Seriously, GF could potentially take this concept anywhere. For all we know, Scarlet and Violet could end up getting DLC that connects to the "true" past and future of Paldea that has regional evolutions like Hisui did, and the DLC occurs because the time traveling professor AI accident caused some other kind of damage to the timeline. This is all a just a theory of course, I'm just saying, if I can come up with this idea, there's a chance a GF writer could do something similar, so I don't think you should give up hope. Plus we've seen Meowth get regional variants two generations in a row, so there's still a possibility that one will come for Donphan next Gen, even if we didn't get one here.

Iron Bundle being a spy toy that can go all kill mode when it sees a problem. Iron Moth being an anti aircraft weapon. And Iron Valiant being almost like a terminator bot with how powerful it is.
Now of course these are just theories and the dex entries don't help us much. Hell, Iron Jugulius is said to be a cross between Hydreigon getting it on with a robot. So we can't really get a good grasp on these pokemon fully. But I would say there is some merit to them.

I find it interesting you didn't bring up the "not actually from time" theory when discussing them. I'm skeptical myself but it's an interesting theory, and it does explain traits of these paradoxes. For any uninitiated there's a theory that instead of a time machine this is a "make it reality" machine where it takes the things from the book and brings the Pokemon to life. So for example the "Iron" in the names may be because the person who wrote the book liked uniformity, or lacked the creativity to give them a different name. The theory even discusses the idea that Sada/Turo are the ones who created these Pokemon as children in the book. So in that case you'd have a child who used a lot of wild adjectives, and a child who wanting to keep everything uniform used a labeling style name system for consistency with the designs. Kinda gives some personality traits to the two of them. That all is of course if the theory is correct, as it does have quite a few holes. Either way I like these fish out of water Pokemon, they're all really fun. Even if they have some questionable implications about the future world of Pokemon.

Don’t know but it’s the main thing I can think of as the uniform to me should have only been a while at the school or during gym challenges. The treasure hunt is about finding yourself for the students. This seems the opposite of wearing a school uniform as it’s less freedom to explore or express yourself. School and the gym challenge would have been a good ‘there is a time and place to wear it’ as a means to prepare for the work environment. Beyond that just hate the whole aspect of the uniform. I think naming wise (in-game) depends on what Sara and Turo wanted to name them (making them the lamest professors ever). In Arceus, you had a team of people (the player, the helper, the professor and the whole Galactic institution) that probably helped with the naming. Same with other teams/labs, the professor is rarely alone or isolated. But that's not the case in Scarlet/Violet. The professors job was kinda secretive and barely anyone knew of it (Arven aside).

why their name starts with Iron really kicked off the Sentai naming conventionally in my point of view, most of Super Sentai are just named after their squad name + their respective colors, and that to me is very interesting compared to the ancient Paradox

i personally really like both naming conventions. the past names remind me of the names ancient tribes would give unusual creatures that they spot, and the future ones remind me of simple codenames researchers would give to test subjects, which really fits the aesthetics of the two games. also, i like the idea of some corporation weaponizing these strong pokemon causing them to appear robotic, but i personally prefer the idea that their "evolution" into these chrome creatures was semi-natural, such as some sort of future infinity energy shortage that caused them to rely more on technology

I like to think that Past paradoxes are actual ancestors of modern pokemon, i think it's also interesting that some of them are not fully evolved, like we have Magneton instead of magnezone and Misdreavus instead of Mismagius. This telld us that modern pokemon found a way to evolve only recently, and in the past some of them stayed as 2 stagers or single stagers.
Future pokemon are interesting to me too, because they are soulless robot versions of normal mons. I have a theory that they came from a far far future, where every pokemon got extinct or replaced with far more better metalic counterpart. I think some of these robots function more like tools with different jobs. And Miraidon is a cyborg and not a robot intirely, because it feels alive and feels emotions and feelings.

I prefer the theory that the Past Paradox Pokémon aren't actually the ancestors of present day Pokémon, due to the fact that one of them is directly mentioned to have no fossils or any other records of it actually existing in ancient times, that being Slither Wing.
What that means, is that if ONE of them is confirmed to not have any traces of it actually living in the distant past, it's likely none of the others have any traces either, especially Brute Bonnet and Sandy Shocks, both Paradoxes that make no sense to have existed that far back at all, with no real mention of them having been actually confirmed to exist so long ago, especially looking the way they do, like seriously, you expect me to believe that a mushroom was mimicking something that wouldn't exist for several 1000's of years at LEAST? Then there's the screws on Sandy Shocks... it just makes more sense that they were completely made up in the first place... then somehow made real by the power of the "time" machine powered by the Disk Pokemon's Crystals...

Also my theory for why we don’t have paradox mon of wigglytuff and the rest is simply because stuff like moon stones don’t really exist or common at this time period (or whatever’s going on with them)therefore their bodies don’t have a reaction to it like their present counterparts do.
Is it a foolproof theory no… but it’s just a quick thought. Overall I’ll give the paradox mon’s a 7/10. Pretty solid but could use some more work.

Yet, he also states that his parent made the time machine roughly 10 years ago but rhe notes about the paradox pikemon were from hundreds of years ago. So he wonders where the pokemon actually came from. Most people subscribe to the thought of the pikemon coming into being thanks to imagination and I suspect this is possibly the best one, but to add to it, the rumored pokemon in the scar/viol book is a paracitic/nanomachine type pokemon that makes random pokemon or (thanks to sada/turo) creates new pokemon

Mangakamen I also agree with your issues/have similar feelings about Future Paradox Pkmns. I really did enjoy the Ancient variants compared to the Future variants we got, especially since some of my favorites pkmns got the Future treatment instead and essentially got simple basic robotical versions of themselves.
Like Slitherwing essentially being a Volcarona that stayed as a big Larvesta that never evolved to fly like a moth is so much better than Iron Moth who essentially got solar panel wings but practically looks the same.
If they could at least have added some mechanical parts (similar to Genesect getting a weapon mounted on his back) just to hit further the theory that these pkmns possibly come from a future where some mad scientist had the horrible idea of automation/robotization of these pkmns with the goal to make them stronger compare to original counterpart like Iron Bundle vs Delibird.
Like if it's normal for Blastoise to have some cannons inside his shell, it wouldn't be too farfetched that all these Future Paradox Pkmns have some sort of mechanical robotic weapon added inside of them. Like maybe Iron Jugulis having some laser cannon added inside of it's mouths, and having his tail also become another head or having a laser cannon attached to it or something, just to show that these pkmns have been at least modified even through their exoskeleton looks similar to their normal counterpart.
Imagine if Iron Jugulis was the Mecha Ghidorah version of Hydreigon and used some of the original concepts they had for him.
Instead Iron Jugulis just feels "safe" and in that sense disappointing compare to some of the other interesting ones like Iron Valiant, Miraidon or any of the Ancient Pkmns we got.

But I adore the dinosaurified Ancient Pokémon and was hoping for some hyper-evolved Pokémon as their counterparts. Although someone told me the Future ones are actually cyborgs and not robots. Also, Iron Bundle is allegedly not from the future but actually the past according to the books in-game, which makes it VERY interesting to me.
Also Iron Jugulis, huge missed opportunity to make it look like a literal tank like Hydreigon's original design. Probably my least favorite of the future ones because it's *just* a robot Hydreigon

Considering they're call Paradoxes, maybe they aren' being pulled from one linear point of time, but a hypothetical point of time that would be possible. Much like how we won't know what the future holds or how certain points in history are left obsured my the passage of time, but could very be possible directions based on current knowledge.
The Scarlet "Imaginary Pokemon" is probably the biggest example of this. We know the Beasts were 'something' prior to the Silver Tower in Johto burning, but 'what' exactly we don't know really and that illustration in the Book could simply be one possible interpretation of what they use to be or at least what their primal ancestors were.

But yeah, Future Paradox pokemon are kind of a shame if they were all called "Iron." Either give them different kinds of Iron names or maybe some mutated forms or something (and don't say it would be too dark to see a mutated pokemon when Ghost Pokemon have some pretty dark stories in their own right).
Honestly, part of me thought there could have been a chance we could have "mutated" existing pokemon into paradox forms (thus to explain how we could have evolved our cycle pokemon into a legendary form of the past or future) like a sort of way to return to mega evolutions. A good step in the right direction, but definitely one that needs to get some expansions to it in order to properly sell it.

While I was only interested in shiny hunting Iron Valiant (I nicknamed it Pixl)

Because it literally came out of nowhere, at the most I found a book on my way down to the Area Zero mega base (which is way to late to hunt at something like that). And I instead thought "oh Turo cloned himself! So maybe there will be two Turos! That would be kinda funny". • @TheMythicalMatty

I like to think that the future Paradox Pokemon aren’t robots but are the modern Pokemon they’re based off that have adapted to the future. It is a stretch, but when you think about how a majority of them aren’t steel types so they can’t have steel resistances like Iron Valiant to poison and Iron Bundle to grass, function as much as they like without the use of an internal battery, no signs of ports or electrical sockets on them at all, and able to consume natural herbs and get their nutrients like the Iron Treads Titan, it sounds more like their artificial look is just for show. Violet’s Paradox Pokemon is so rich with potential of what they are without writing them off as “Robots”. They could not be affected by EMPs and don't short circuit when submerged in water just like normal everyday Pokemon. I mean, their animations aren’t even robotic like when you compare them to the AI professors and their animations. It oddly makes more sense than certain Scarlet Paradox Pokemon that have tails with spines and Sandy Shocks being in that time period. Not that I am bashing on Scarlet’s Paradox Pokemon, I love them all even Sandy Shocks and how silly and awesome it is. The term Paradox Pokemon is also a interesting subject to dive in. The leading theory is that by the group they're in, they're are of course Paradoxes. Their very presence is anomalous as some wouldn't even call them Pokemon. It's possible that they aren't even from the time periods as the professors say they are. They don't even follow the normal naming conventions, they all have names based on their biggest attributes like Scream tail that has it's hair curl as a big tail and it screams, Iron Hands simply having Iron hands, and Great tusk goes without saying. The only thing that makes them Pokemon is that they can use Pokemon moves, receive Super effective damage, and can be contained in Pokeballs. The Mascot Legendaries are also something I like to point out. They follow normal naming conventions as their names are literally given to them by the professors. They were classified by "Winged King" for Koriadon, and "Iron Serpent" for Miraidon. Kori which means Ancinet, Mirai which means Future, Raido which means Ride, and Don which is lord and a suffix for Dinosaur. Although they're all Paradox Pokemon of Cyclizar, they're all drastically different and more powerful than Cyclizar. It's possible the professors coined their names because they vastly differ from the bicycle lizard.

None are actually based on real ancient animals or phenomena, they’re just the lookalike Pokémon with a coat of primeval flavored cheese. The same applies to the future Paradoxes. They’re not dipping into truly wild futuristic characteristics because they’re not legitimate. They’re just their lookalikes with a coat of cheese. Theres something I thought of basically inmediately when I saw the Paradox Pokemon and that they couldn't evolve or have a gender that I haven't seen people bring up. It's probably because there's just no way of knowing. The dinosaurs' biology could be so alien and different from what it evolved into in the present day that sexing them isn't something modern science knows how to do. There's some species of lizards that are like this. Similarly, the fact that the robots all seem to be made of this same metallic material with some colored fluid underneath might suggest they don't have biological gender. Iron Valiant especially implies this, given it's a fusion of the male-only Gallade and the stereotypically female Gardevoir.
Also, regarding how some dinosaurs are based on pre-evolved forms, my theory is that those evolutions didn't exist back then. Jigglypuff, Magneton (as of Gen 9) and Misdreavus all evolve when exposed to stones, not naturally through leveling up. Those stones might not have existed back in the time of Scream Tail, Sandy Shocks, or Flutter Mane.

While they have less variation than the past versions and are more or less just robotic, they do still have some variety between them such as Iron Treads’s actual face being behind its trunk, Iron Bundle’s body being detachable or Iron Valiant being a fusion between both Mega Gardevoir and Gallade, as you said. Though this does beg the question of why there aren’t more “fusion” Paradox Pokémon, such as a mix between Mega Charizard X and Y or Pokémon with split evolutions like Poliwhirl, Slowpoke or Rockruff. Which’s where I can see it has some missed potential, and I do hope to see the concept expanded on in the future (most likely in DLC.)

I do agree that the Ancient Paradox Pokemon have much more interesting and diverse designs than the Future Paradox Pokemon. I will also agree that for the future Paradox pokemon, they could have covered a wider range of themes. However, given that all the information we have on them so far is from the Pokedex getting information from a occult fiction magazine, I am definitely hoping the DLC will touch upon it somehow. After all, if you go back down to the time machine, it seems like it's still operational.
A interesting theory that has been going around that I kind of like is the theory that Paradox Pokemon aren't technically real. There are different takes on this theory, but it is believed that the crystals found at the bottom of Area Zero have much greater potential power than one may think.

personally, I think it's because the crystals are caused by the missing 3rd legendary, which I believe is the pokemon of imagination
it would go with the region's theme of art, while also explaining how a "time machine" and AI are able to work without technology from the future
also just realized while writing this that it'd basically just be WH40k ork: the legendary

I'm glad I'm not the only guy who got flashbacks to the pokemon ranger 2 NPC as well, but in my case it was probably because i had just replayed shadows of almia a few weeks before SV released.

Imo if they had to give the future forms a unifying theme then Iron Valiant was the way to go, fusing together split evolution lines like Vileploom and Bellosom, Slowbro and Slowing, Eevee, and even like Nidoking and Nidoqueen, and just use different metals for the titles
Actually then people might complain that their too Gen 1 focused

Past Paradox do share a unifying theme across the board, they are all just "dinosaur" versions of the mon.
They took the mon, just gave it a ton of spikes/zigzags everywhere, and gave a tail to the ones missing it
Not much different to how they took all mons, gave them body armor, digital eyes, and some form of futuristic trait (ei, levitating limbs, solid energy parts, etc) for the Future Paradox

I don't really agree with Paradox Pokemon being more "diverse" than Mega Evolutions.
There were plenty of weak Pokemon that got a mega form. Mawile, Abomasnow, Pinsir, Kangaskhan, Audino, Glalie, Houndoom, Banette, Absol, Manectric, and many more. It was a pretty solid split between Pokemon who "needed" them and Pokemon that got them because they were already popular like Gengar, Scizor, Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross etc.
It's pretty much the same with Paradox Pokemon, and btw Scarlet has a Paradox form of Salamence which is very much a pseudo legendary, not sure what that article was on about. Volcarona, Amoonguss, Salamence, Hydreigon and Tyranitar were all already pretty strong Pokemon that didn't "need" a Paradox form if you follow that argument. Gallade is debatable, although it does also have a Mega. I think Paradox and Mega forms are pretty equal in how they're split in that regard.

It probably wasn't intentional but it's also pretty cynical in tone to say that the ONLY evolution will be robots, instead of trying to theorycraft what ways that things coming around in the future would influence a Pokemon's development.

I love how their Dex entries are BS even for a pokedex entry.
Anyways, while I still feel the past paradoxes are cooler looking I feel the future ones have a lot of charm when we consider their animations, specially when they faint. Mecha Donphan turns into a ball and Delibird gets its head punched out like a boxer robot! That's pretty cool!

In my opinion the paradox pokemon are that... A paradox... a time line that shouldn't be.
I don't think the past Pokemon are the ACTUAL PAST versions of these pokemon.
Nor are the FUTURE mons the FUTURE versions.
They are hypotheticals made by destructive power of the legendary pokemon (who we havent seen) that makes terrastialize possible.
If you think about it. TERASTALIZE is litterly putting a power into a pokemon to change their type and empower it.
This is what paradox pokemon are. Devolution and The Singularity. The legendary pokemon we travel with are the Cyclzar who absorbed that power thus became it.
Would there be robotic pokemon? Yes. Pokemone evolve and change. Look at Electrode and Voltorb. Went from being an electric apricorn into a pure electric ball.
And what I think this legendary pokemon (that we dont know) that left all these paradox stuff is.. is one that didn't make actual time travel.
Heck if you know the final plot twist... it makes sense what happened.. but then again... we will probably see this true pokemon one day.. or be religated to UNKNOWN just like Gen 5's true dragon!

I think scarlet and violet did well designwise. The pokemon are interesting, the open world was executed as well as pokemon could. I love the paradox forms for the pure "coolness" of them, the energy that captures a 7-year-old's attention. I was literally squeaking when looking through the scarlet and violet pokedex. They look cool. Sure they're flawed, but all pokemon games have their... jynxes. More recent games just had more. I've come full circle, when I wasn't much into pokemon I was like "ooh, new game cool" then I got my hands on pokemon crystal and the first gen, watched x and y and had some older friend influence, and was like "new game bad." But now I see both. The money-grabbing gimmicky mess, and the game for children that maintains its magic and joy.
