Corrosion can seize motors and anything with bearings. I got a JVC Nivico turntable going by pulling the sector gear off of it's arbor and sanding off the white corrosion. The gear is "pot metal" and had corroded against the steel arbor (galvanic corrosion). Cleaning it and lubing it up with white grease fixed it and I cleaned and lubed everything else as well. The speed change knob was seized with dried up oil. Heat and solvent took care of that. Now it works like new (1971).

I just picked up nearly the same model at a thrift shop. A week later the turntable slowed slightly and all my records are out of tune. I don't know what the problem is but I am so bummed. It's a shame, it's such a nice looking piece.

I just bought a Magnavox changer and the motor barely ran so I took it apart and cleaned the rust off the rotary coils and oiled both ends of the armature then put it back together now it runs nice and strong

These are desirable to the next generation. For the love of God! These are all minor problems and should be expected even with excellent care. I had mine restored back to fully working in a day.

While I am not a fan of that chassis, the dial lights weren't a big deal to fix. And the changer motor may have been bad - but it's idler wheel fits all Micromatics from 1960 forward and bring good money to the person who is restoring a classic. Ditto for the 10" woofers. If you're going to junk it, at least save what someone else might be able to use.

I had one on which the motor slowed down so I took the motor off and opened it up and oiled it and it started to regain the proper speed

You could put another changer in there if you still have it

Did you double check that the packing screw on top of the motor wasn't tightened? It will lock the motor for shipping.

Did you fix this console . I wish I seen your video sooner , I could of help you repair the record changer . First all you had to do was oil the motor , That model changer has a problem with the plastic gear not work . I fixed many of them like this . first like I said you oil the motor . next you clean the tuner controls , like volume , treble , and balance . Like I said I could of helped you out .
