Thank you. I got through book one following your videos. I'm still not done with amazing grace. But finished down in the valley and tumbalalaika. This one seems a little bit difficult. I am not a great fan of blues. I play the mandolin among other instruments you can check my channel. Keep these videos coming, I am sure you are teaching a lot of people the piano all over the world.😊
Can I ask why you do not like tremolo as a whole? I see on a piece like Unfinished Symphony from Alfred Book 3 you play the tremolos very rhythmically on the 1/16th notes. All just stylistic? Great videos, these always help me understand some of the nuance I am missing
I don't like the sound when a piano does a tremolo in most cases. Sometimes in ragtime music or country western music, it comes across OK, but otherwise, I would just prefer to hear the chord played as a blocked or broken chord. I almost always play tremolos and trills rhythmically. I like that sound better than the uncontrolled shake sound.
I don't know since I don't count them. I keep working on it until I have it learned as well as I want, then I move on. If it is a piece I enjoy, I keep playing even while working on other things.
Good catch. Yes, when I cover the right hand, I play a B natural and it should be a B-flat. I do play a B-flat in the Play With Me section of the video. I'll make a note to fix this when I get the chance.
Thank You! Thank you so much! I started playing piano as my first musical instrument about 1 year ago. And I've watched and played along with all of your videos from the first book, and I can use some advice: I notice my pinky finger (5) wants to dart up and out of the way when using the ring finger (4). Do I need to have my hands up higher vertically to avoid that? Is that normal or a bad habit? I can't tell how far up/down your hands are from the keyboard, since your video is top-down instead of from the side. If you have 90 seconds, here's a video of me playing this piece: ua-cam.com/video/qiF3PuMkfl8/v-deo.html -- any and all advice would be greatly appreciated sir! Thanks again!!
You're welcome! Your pinky finger is fine as it is. Your wrists are even with your arms and hands and that is as it should be. The piece sounded wonderful. Well done.
I always watch your videos, thank you explain the piece. You are the best

Same here... Amazing Grace is a little finger-breaking. More study needed. But indeed, these videos are very helpful.

Question:: How many times do you need to play a song before you move on?

In the last measure you play E-B-D with 1-4-5 fingering but it should be a B flat instead (at least it is in my book).

I can’t do the 2 c’s
