Both the passenger and driver have a responsibility. Passengers actually need to pay attention to their surroundings as the time gets closer to their bus arriving and stop looking on their phones. Too many times I have seen passengers glued to their phones like it was the end of the world. Drivers need to at least slow down as they approach a bus stop and look to see if the passenger is going to board. If both parties behave according to the way they are supposed to, I think that would make everything a lot smoother and less of a headache!

I stop all the time now, but I have seen buses not even checking wether a passenger is there cos the view could be covered by a bus already there. Thats when it not passenger at fault.. Saw 2 buses back to back leaving tourist behind, the bus behind seem like we was chasing the other bus. That the worse I have seen. But yeah some passenger not aware.

I remember beeping to alert such passengers when I drove country buses, as they’d have a very long wait if they didn’t get on. But driving in London if I was on a route where all the other buses were going the same way and I was already late I would pass the other buses that were already stopped, such as driving the 47 towards Catford, but I got told off one day as a manager was who I left behind at Lewisham High St. He was waiting at the stop and must have be waiting for the other buses to go, and didn’t walk up like the other passengers there.

being a bus driver myself i find passengers are lazy and just expect the bus to stop passengers should always signal for a bus to stop able or none able they used to so really if a bus does,nt stop the driver should not be at fault i'd like to add i don,t like leaving people behind but sometimes that way they might learn to signal

Not sure where you drive but TFL requires us to stop, and believe it or not there are many disabilities out there, The Red and white stop in London are now to be treated a main stop or white stops.. Even before this rule we were suppose to stop at white stops and if a passenger has that info in there head they not gonna but hands up. Most passengers do signal now cos they know some driver not gonna stop . The main issue for me bro is when I have seen bus drivers assume the passenger is gonna get on the bus in front. Plus remember I it happened to me when I had my hands out, the bus driver literally ignore me. So I have seen it from both sides. I just think some of us will alway blame passengers but we have to put up our hand sometime . Please take note how I started the video. The bus driver left the old lady cos he didn’t even pull into stop , he just assumed the woman was gonna get my bus that was in front. This is when bus drivers mainly do it. I take note of it cos it’s bad. I have picked up people left behind and I catch with bus that they have missed..I disagree with about not being our fault, if we stop how can we go wrong. You know as well as me the some of our fellow workers love to have an empty bus, we just have to be real I heard it all lol.

@@Barch7I live in York I get a bus mainly which is a number 6
However it stops at an interchange
So that bus stop what the 6 stops at isn’t the only bus other bus services stop there to
So I agree with you 100 % always put Hand out if wanting a bus
If not driver will think you either want another service or person at stop is being stupid by standing randomly at a bus stop taking to an old lady

It happened to me a few months back, I was waiting for a 364 (East London) at the hail and ride section. I had a suitcase with me and saw the bus coming, got my arm out as I always do and the bus slowed down, as I walked a few steps to the stop he then just drove off. Infuriating to say the least😂, got no doubt that he knew I wanted to get on otherwise he wouldn't have slowed down.

I'm a bus driver. I fully get that we need to slow right down and /or stop. BUT.... there have been times I've slow RIGHT RIGHT down with anticipation of stopping, I even hovered pass waiting for someone to do something, either walk, make a small gesture, look up SOMETHING. Nobody does anything, so I carryon. Then I'm looking in my near side window to make sure and I've got one person getting upset. But they'll be the person that had NO intention of boarding the bus. It's very annoying because I don't want harsh break, so I put the passengers on my bus first before I even THINK about stopping again, because if I stop now, it could cause my passengers to fall or go forward harshly. Especially if ive got a pregnant woman onboard

When I was a bus driver from 1973 for 42 years we used to have requests ✋ stops and
Compulsory stops so was training my instructor use to say when you come to a compulsory you should stop and let people off and then let people on request tops unless the ball rings to stop or if someone puts their hand out at the bus stop you should stop but for me I didn’t like to go in and see the garage manager for anything when I see anybody at the request stops or a Compass. I always stop whether they’re getting off or not. I just stop open the doors if they’re getting on the get on if they’re not getting on the close the doors and I go and you’re safe or that way so that’s what I used to do but these new drivers I don’t think they they think of that really they just wanna keep going like as if they’re in a car they’re not doing a job you’re getting paid if you’re late you get paid overtime, so what’s the point of Russian? Take your time as they instructed you to do the job safely incorrectly and you have no problems at all. That was my experience for 40 odd years thank you

Someone people dont even put their hands up to siganl the buses to stop, they expect the bus to stop at the bus stop, in other words, they judge the bus drivers.

The big issue is the lack of running time you get on some duties i.e early mornings and late evenings especially when your meal relief is approaching 😂😂😂. On top of that “customers” don’t put hands out anymore fingers are too busy with their smartphones, last but not least you are expected to drive 20mph on duty designed for 30mph.

Your own fault. You drivers dont unite, if every driver stuck together you would get more running time. Like this prat doing videos, your all too busy stabbing eachother in the back

This brings me back to the covid non-school/school service days in 2020, my bus route has 6/7 buses on it and it's every 20 mins. Only 1 of those 6/7 buses was a school service bus and I'd have to wait 2 hours for it. Most drivers were decent and let people on but there were quite a few which didn’t, technically they were doing the right thing in the rulebook but when you see an empty bus at school hours and get refused in the rain and you know you could be waiting there for up to 2 hours it was a complete shambles. I'm pleased I'm 19 and don't have to put up with before/after school times anymore😂

It's always been the case that there are a minority of drivers who want other drivers to do all the work, it used to happen even more in crew (driver/conductor} days. My experience of this goes back nearly seventy years, and in my youth often involved Catford buses on the 160 and 124, as I lived in Eltham and attended St Dunstan's College. One particular crew took this to the limit and made us late for school on numerous occasions. A schoolfriend's father was a bus inspector based at Well Hall Station. Eltham bus station and arranged for the newly-introduced Ford Anglia mobile control vehicle to park at Eltham Green one morning and catch the crew of TL9, running 8 minutes early. pushing the one minute late TL8 on the 160. I never saw that crew again, either together or individually, and even in those highly Unionised days suspect they were sacked as they were probably despised by other crews.
