She has such a nice smile...and a very good sport for listening to something she doesn't like...but how can you not like metal??🤪
Easy.
I have found metal music that I do like, but it doesn't come from the US. Namely the Hu Band and Celtic Metal.
It just doesn’t do anything for a lot of people, myself included, aside from a sparse few examples. Iron Maiden is one I do like. But I love punk. I couldn’t tell you why I like one and not the other though. I know they’re not the same, but they have a lot of similarities. Maybe it’s just the dark, brooding vibe of metal vs the upbeat, energetic vibe of punk.
I can say for sure that I don’t like the growling/screaming, and I don’t like the guitar in metal when it’s doing the percussive “DUN DUN DUN DA-DUN DA-DUN DUN” breakdown stuff, like it is when she’s screaming early in the video. I do like the wailing guitar solo stuff that older metal bands did. 3 Inches of Blood style.
I also like the crossroads where the two genres meet, like thrash metal and hardcore punk. But most genres of straight up metal just aren’t enjoyable to me.
No matter where someone stands on vocal fries or guttural screams, you gotta respect her transitions. Flawlessly going back and forth like that without vocal damage requires so much more technique than most people realize. Now you guys need to check out the Holy Roller official video.

Glad you enjoyed it! You should listen to their song Perennial. It's my favorite. You cant go wrong with any of their songs. Holy Roller is still my least favorite though.

Huh, I’ve heard of them. Was she really young or something? I remember hearing about them like 15 years ago. She doesn’t look that old.
Good thing you didn't start with Holy Roller. She wouldn't have wanted to watch another one. Next one go with Constance, Secret Garden, or We Live In A Strange World before hitting her with a heavier track.

I think these ladies are fierce and strong! People I know we all think that life begins with all the cookie cutter stuff that is playing on the radio. Today it's who popular who's wearing what; hey there is life beyond that. Symphonic metal is so underrated there is growling yes but listen a little more these REAL music🌹

Screaming is just another vocal technique and multiple types of screaming techniques but is given a bad name in the vocal industry until recently, there should never be pain or soreness associated with vocals Weather screaming or clean
I'm seeing Ghost in September and the first band is Spirit Box... I guess the wife and I will have some extra time for drinks before we settle in our seats.
Spiritbox is the hottest band in metal and has no set genre it plays to.. Listen to Spirtbox's "Constance" --will make you cry. .
I’m driving 400 miles to see the Ghost tour (I like Ghost), but the only reason I’m driving that far is to see Spiritbox.

I don’t like metal almost at all, so I’m certainly not gatekeeping shit, but most metal fans aren’t going to hear “this song will make you cry” and think “golly gee I should listen to that!” The draw to most genres of metal is how heavy they are. Beautiful, emotional melodies are the last thing people would associate with metal, and would probably make a lot of metal fans want to gag.

@@dmphax Maybe. Maybe not. Lack of proper technique will fuck any singer’s voice up in the long run, and screaming is no different.
But as someone who used to scream along to music in junior high/high school, it sounds a lot more painful than it is. It doesn’t hurt any more than singing at the same volume, as long as you’re not pushing your range too hard.

I don't like the screaming metal then again I'm 53 years old almost I don't mind old fashioned headbanging and thrash death metal though that's some good shit.
