I saw Liliac in Columbus, Ohio in October 2023 and they played this. It hit _hard_ and as far as the vocals go, if I remember correctly, Sam did backing vocals and Melody . . . well, I can't remember if Melody had any live effects on her voice or not, but I remember her going low into her range just like on the song. Melody is a great frontwoman who takes time to get set up for every big vocal moment of every song and stays nearly as still as a statue when that moment comes. Can't wait to see them again in February.
The effort that they go through too get the studio recording just right can be seen in their series of live streams currently on their channel . Their live stage shows ,obviously can't incorporate all the effects of a studio, but from what the Fangs report on being at their concerts, no one comes away dissapointed from theirstage versions of their songs . MADNESS is the title song off the album of the same name, which has another 9 songs all following a theme but all distinctively Liliac's sound , well worth sitting back with a good set of headphones and an adult beverage for a pleasant listening experience. This fits in well with their entire new album (which is yes 'Madness'). However, while it does fit in well to the entire album theme, NO the rest of the album is nowhere near as heavy as this song. This is the heaviest song they have ever done including on this album. But the entire album is more edgy, more current including this titled album track Madness. Another good one from this album is 'Somber Cry' more of alt rock ballad. So as different from this that you could get, but it highlights the lead guitarist Sam as the singer, who before has only done backup vocals. Live still sounds very good, her whispering part live actually stands out as being off more so than the rest of the singing. Guess it is just hard trying to whisper and yet still be heard over the rest of the band which just simply can not be reproduced as well live.
Yeah, I got chewed out by some idiot for admiring her range! Ranting I was trolling???? I'm no producer. I've never seen a wa-wa bar on a mandolins or banjo!!! I was raised bluegrass. But, LILIAC rocks, whatever her opinion is!
Actually, this is NOT how the rest of the album is. This, and Carousel were really the onky two bangers on the album, the rest were more Alt Rock sounding to me. However there new cover of Heaven and Hell is pretty awesome.
Hey good to see ya again.. I love this band.. I think it's time for them to find a record label who'll let them be them, but help them elevate to the next level.. I understand it's hard to trust a label.. Maybe LAVA RECORDS.. Like The Warning.. I think they've been independent long enough.. it's holding them back from super stardom... That's just what I think.. could be wrong... 🤟🎶☮️
Pretty doubtful that they'll sign with a Label as Labels own your ass. Liliac dropped out of America's Got Talent back in 2020 once they read the fine print that states that for the first 5 years, the company gets 95% of the proceeds.
This is the first time I've heard true screams from her. I think you may be referring to the screeches she likes to do. I agree. Those do get old the more it happens throughout the songs
