This test doesn't match my experience. I own these two earphones, I bought the evovle2 85 since it came on the market, and recently I switched to the evovle2 75. The microphone of evolve2 75 is much much better than the evolve2 85. When using the evolve2 85, the listener can clearly understand every word spoken by the person next to me. But when using evovle2 75, only a slight noise is heard. Especially when I'm not talking, the evolve2 75's mic does block out background noise. but evolve2 85 does not. But evovle2 85 is much more comfortable than evolve2 75. So I think that it depends on your scenario. many phone calls and using in noisy places, evolve2 75 is better. Long time wearing for listening and not so much phone calls, evolve2 85 is better.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Jabra Evolve2 75 and 85! It’s always great to hear from other end users. And yes, the Evolve2 75 mic performs better then Evolve2 85, however in my opinion, the original Evolve 75 mic outperforms both. Again, much appreciated, Sean!
In each of these how does the noise cancelling in your ears compare? I am in an office with a lot of people, close proximity, how do they compare as far as cancelling or diminishing their voices while not on a call? Is one better than the other and what percentage would you say they prevent. It can be hard to concentrate in these work environments.
Clint Peitz, thanks for watching. That is an excellent question. I keep meaning to create an ANC Speaker Test for headsets with this feature, including the Evolve2 75 and 85. I have tested all the business-grade ANC headsets by Poly, Jabra, EPOS, Cisco, Logitech, Bose, and Yealink. They all perform pretty similarly. No headset I tested blocks out 100% of background noise with ANC turned on. It significantly reduces noise, especially ambient sounds like AC, humming engines, etc. However, you can still hear voices. Admittingly not as clear, but you can and will hear people talking. For me, the combination of ANC turned on with music/audio streaming made it seem like the background noise was suppressed. I know because my wife has had to physically tap my shoulder or stand before me to notify me she is talking. However, with just ANC turned on, I can still hear her. At some point, I'll get around to creating videos showcasing ANC headset speaker performance. Check out professional grade headsets with ANC speakers www.calloneinc.com/active-noise-cancelling-headsets/
Thanks Danny you're the man. Question I had regarding this test: was the dongle used for each the same? (Were they both USB-A,C, the same exact dongle, or specific to the headset)?
You're welcome and thank you for watching and supporting our channel! Please let us know what other professional/business grade headset comparisons you'd like to see!
I think that your reviews are the best, somehow you (or the way you setup your headsets) manage to remove way more background noise than other reviewers. (for example on this one, you can clearly hear that there is some background noise, and the db readings are nowhere close to 90db ua-cam.com/video/ziylIulW1wA/v-deo.html min 8). What do you do in terms of dongle/bluethoot/updates etc. that can be resulting in that big difference? Why do you think we can hear background noise on almost every other review out there (at least for the Jabra Evolve2 85)? I really want to get this headset, I just want it to sound as it does for you, not noisy as for almost everybody else.
Hi Mateo! Thanks for watching and your feedback! This is a frequently asked question. I don’t do anything special. I charge any products that require it before connecting to my computer. If a corded USB device does not require charging, I connect directly. I download any recommended or required software. I ensure the software and firmware of the devices and dongles are up to date. I've had the Evolve2 75 for almost two years. It's a great headset for all day call work. I have no complaints about the audio and mic quality. The audio quality especially for listening to music has gotten a lot better--with the regular software updates. To the point they're my go-to headphones for listening to music. I do have a problem with the fit. I have a big head and I found the headset half a size too small. And after a couple of hours it would feel uncomfortable and a little hot around the ears. I'd need to take it off my head for a minute or two, stretch it a bit--before putting it back on. Another thing. I wonder if the regular updates have affected the microphone ANC. I feel that it's less effective at blocking out bothersome ambient noise now--then it did when it was new.

Hi @richardpalmer8478, here is the response from Jabra: Hi Danny, Thank you for the share. Concerning fit & feel we acknowledge it is subjective. We will continue to strive to fit most head sizes. Regarding microphone performance, since the customer indicated they update firmware regularly I offer the following insights. With the latest FW release 1.8.13 we have improved the microphone audio performance to address issues reported from the market. We have enhanced microphone audio robustness against various reflections caused by head and hand gestures as well as certain environmental limitations. However, we still acknowledge that there are some corner cases: · Microphone audio fluctuations when the listener hears voice level differences. · Background noise pickup from surroundings by microphone in some rare cases · A close surface reflection issue when headset is worn very close to a wall/partition, etc. Jabra does recommend that the Link 380 also be updated to the latest version. If they do not find headset firmware 1.8.13 as an improvement or experience some scenarios working differently than the previous firmware version 1.7.4, we suggest downgrade of the headest firmware. To downgrade, please follow the instructions here: www.jabra.com/supportpages/firmware-update-recovery The firmware is located here: www.jabra.com/supportpages/jabra-evolve2-75#/SOFT To avoid getting prompts to update to firmware 1.8.13, open Jabra Direct, click settings and turn off Firmware updates and device information. We are continuously working on improving the overall audio performance, thus with no exact timeline for releasing updates yet. We do though appreciate and take all customer feedback seriously and will try to incorporate as much as possible in this product’s future updates.
Hello! I have the Evolve2 85 and there are a few bugs which are leaning me into buying these. Just wanted to make sure these also don't have the same. 1. When you're listening to music and you take off the headphones, is there a noticeable lag between it pausing? The 85 usually takes about 3 seconds. 2. When there is nothing playing and you click on a video, the first few seconds get cut off because of the headset going into "sleep mode". This is a jabra evolve2 85 feature which they refuse to fix or disable. Wanted to know if this is solved on the 75. Thanks in advance! Nice video!
Hi Parth, here is response from Jabra: Hi Danny, We'll want to determine if customer pairing to native BT on a computer or using with cell when "lag" occurs. Same for their comment 2. I felt like the 75 won especially during the dog barking. I now I have to go checkout the old 75. I have the new 75 and I really don't like the on year. Was the old 75 better than the old 85 as well?
Hi H, my personal opinion, the original Evolve 75 had a stronger performing mic across both the new Evolve2 75 and 85. Jabra didn't have a comparable original "85". They had the Evolve 80 which was one of the first professional grade headsets to include Active Noise Cancellation speakers that completed enveloped your ears with the speakers. However, it was a corded USB headset. The new Evovle2 85 is wireless and gives you the option to use as corded USB device as well as gives you the option to use with boom mic arm down or up.
Is it possible to compare that is not bulky since it is going to be normal condition soon so people are going to roam around now but we need with good mic. Love your review
Hi Rocky! Thanks for watching! Bulky is matter of preference. Some people like headsets/headphones with the large earcups that cover the ears completely, like the Jabra Evolve2 85, EPOS Adapt 660, Bose 700 UC, and Poly Voyager 8200 UC. Some prefer a more discreet look. What is your preference? For example, here in my home office, it's fairly quiet. I can get away with with using my Yeti mic or USB speakerphone. In an open office environment, I would opt for Jabra Evovle2 75 or Poly Voyager Focus 2. In an airplane, definitely the EPOS Adapt 660 or Bose 700 UC. When I'm on the go walking city streets and taking Uber's, the Poly Voyager 5200 UC.
Hi Danny, Appreciate your review. Couple of questions if you could kindly answer, it will help me to choose between these 2 headsets: 1. In terms of listening music with high bass, which one performs better? 2. In terms of build quality of the Boom mike, which one you felt more durable? 3. I am doing home office...my house is on a busy road in a typical old city area in India/Bangladesh...so i have lots of noise in the background with horns, car and other vehical sounds , but the sound sources are from outside of my house, not from within my room. In this context, do you think evolve2 85 is sufficient enough for a very good microphone and call quality for conference calls? I have a strong preference for evolve2 85, but just wanted to get your opinion whether it will be wise to ignore evolve2 75 considering my above contexts. Really Appreciate your kind support here.
Hi Ahmed Imran Mahmud! Thanks for watching! Here are my (Danny Hayasaka) responses: 1. In terms of listening music with high bass, which one performs better? --> Based on my tests, both Evolve2 75 and 85 provide excellent audio quality. I may give an edge to the Evolve2 85 only because the speaker completely envelopes your ears. 2. In terms of build quality of the Boom mike, which one you felt more durable? --> Same manufacturer so both are similarly durable however, the Evolve2 75 appears to have less moving parts so over time they may prove to be more durable depending on how often you move the mic. --> Great question, I have not tested these mics against car horns. (Although now I'm thinking about adding that to my list of tests) Extremely noisy environments are challenging for any headset. If you listen closely, you will find no headset blocks out 100% of background noise. However, they do a good job of suppressing it. Either the Evolve2 75 or 85 should be sufficient. However, the Evolve2 85 may relieve the background noise you hear a little better than the Evolve2 75. I hope this helps. Please keep us posted!
Hi Danny! Really good testing on how you sound to other person. However, when comparing both, which one seemed to cut out more noise for you? I'm assuming the 85 since it is over the ear, so additional passive noise cancellation, but would like to confirm.
Hands down the Evolve2 85 has stronger ANC speakers compared to Evolve2 75. If your looking for a headset to that suppresses and blocks out the noise you hear while wearing the headset, the Evolve2 85 is a great choice! Thank you for watching!
Also were these the UC or MS versions?
Hi Michael! Thank you for watching! For these tests, I used the same USB-C Link 380 dongle for both.
Damn, that's a good headset
Thanks for sharing your feedback Wang! Do you use headsets for work? We love learning how people use headsets!
Thanks
To select an audio device, I go into Windows 10 Settings --> Sound and select the device I’m testing for Output and Input audio.
For video recordings, I have primarily been using the Huddly IQ www.calloneinc.com/huddly/ using Windows 10 Camera App www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/windows-camera/9wzdncrfjbbg#activetab=pivot:overviewtab

@@CallOneInc Thank you for your reply. A couple of years ago, one of your reviews helped me making the decision of buying the Logitech Zone Wireless (still rocking), but now I want something that cover my ears completly, and it looks like I'm going for the Evolve2 85s.
Please, keep up with these great reviews.
Thanks for the review! Well done!
While noise cancelling works fine and as expected, it seems to compromise the Mic quality especially when the noise is kinda high. What do you think?
Hi IAMASUPERUSER! Thanks for watching! Can you please share what specific loud noises you are referring to? I'd like to recreate scenario and record to share with Jabra to see if they can correct with software update.

Hi @richardpalmer8478! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and feedback. Based on my tests, I haven't noticed a lack of performance in the Jabra Evolve2 75 NC mic. Our CEO uses the Evolve2 75 when in her home office and it's able to help suppress her dogs, husband sitting next to her, and her kids. I'll ask Jabra if there have been any changes that may have impacted the mic performance.

Hi @richardpalmer8478, here is the response from Jabra: Hi Danny,
Thank you for the share.
However, we still acknowledge that there are some corner cases:
· Microphone audio fluctuations when the listener hears voice level differences.
· Background noise pickup from surroundings by microphone in some rare cases
· A close surface reflection issue when headset is worn very close to a wall/partition, etc.
Jabra does recommend that the Link 380 also be updated to the latest version.
If they do not find headset firmware 1.8.13 as an improvement or experience some scenarios working differently than the previous firmware version 1.7.4, we suggest downgrade of the headest firmware.
To downgrade, please follow the instructions here: www.jabra.com/supportpages/firmware-update-recovery
The firmware is located here: www.jabra.com/supportpages/jabra-evolve2-75#/SOFT
To avoid getting prompts to update to firmware 1.8.13, open Jabra Direct, click settings and turn off Firmware updates and device information.
We are continuously working on improving the overall audio performance, thus with no exact timeline for releasing updates yet.
We do though appreciate and take all customer feedback seriously and will try to incorporate as much as possible in this product’s future updates.
@@CallOneInc, thanks man. That's good to know. The ANC issue is a minor quibble, really. I really like this headset.
Nice video!
Hi Parth, here is response from Jabra: Hi Danny,
We'll want to determine if customer pairing to native BT on a computer or using with cell when "lag" occurs. Same for their comment 2.
Jabra supports use via BT to devices running only mobile o/s, if using with computer connection via either usb wired or via Link 380 dongle is supported and recommended to determine if "lag" is present.
Parth, have you contacted Jabra Support directly? Contact them and let me know how it goes.

Hi Danny,
Appreciate your review.
Couple of questions if you could kindly answer, it will help me to choose between these 2 headsets:
Here are my (Danny Hayasaka) responses:
--> Great question, I have not tested these mics against car horns. (Although now I'm thinking about adding that to my list of tests) Extremely noisy environments are challenging for any headset. If you listen closely, you will find no headset blocks out 100% of background noise. However, they do a good job of suppressing it. Either the Evolve2 75 or 85 should be sufficient. However, the Evolve2 85 may relieve the background noise you hear a little better than the Evolve2 75.
I hope this helps. Please keep us posted!
@@CallOneInc Great Danny...it certainly helped a lot...much appreciated...
Are you sure, my kids banging, jumping and screaming in the living room will not be heard on this? I have the Evolve 65 (Version 1) and people can still here them. Thinking about upgrading for sure.
Hi Jeff, no headset mic blocks 100% of background noise. For the best performance, I recommend a headset with strong NC mic like the Jabra Evolve2, Poly Voyager Focus 2 or Yealink BH72 in conjunction with the Noise Suppression options available in Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, Google Meet, etc.

@@CallOneInc Can you Tell me, when should i buy the 85 and when should i buy the 75? Which situations are they more suitable for?
@@oliverjungwirth4596 Both offer ANC speakers and good noise-canceling mics. The primary difference is wearing style. The Evolve2 85 completely covers your ears, while the Evolve2 75 speakers are on ear. It comes down to your personal preference. For example, in an airplane, I prefer to have my ears completely covered with ANC on. For daily use I prefer on-ear style. If you’ve worn headsets in the past, what is your preference?
