From short local walks to long distance trails, sounds like the perfect jacket for when the weather takes a turn for the worst, and if it’s anything like my 23year old ME waterproof trousers it’ll keep me dry for years to come.
Love that it’s a more eco-friendly jacket 🙌 I once bought a ME jacket for £10 in one of the Outside tent sales many many years ago. It went everywhere with me, to crags, in the mountains, and on muddy bike rides, before it got relegated to the garden. One day, I finally admitted it was time to say goodbye 😢 Maybe the Makalu can replace that old blue jacket for all the new adventures still to come 😍
I'd love to wear this out on hikes in the Yorkshire Dales and on rainy day adventures in the Peaks!! Would be perfect as my rain jacket is very much worn out now!
Living on the west of Scotland this jacket would be a saviour. It’d come on any trip from wild coastal walks to hiking through the glens and forests. My last raincoats racked up some serious mileage but has definitely seen better days!
Had my eye on this from Outside for a while - looks awesome and a perfect coat for the dog walks and hikes through Lancashire and Yorkshire - fingers crossed!!
It’d go absolutely everywhere with me, from local footpaths with my daughter and the old foul weather trail run to Ethel and Wainwright bagging with mates. A nice strong jacket like that will last for many adventures.
This jacket would become the daily grab and go waterproof for every wet weather event sheffield has to offer! Will always be in my bag from daily commutes to sport or bouldering trips abroad
It would get used on my weekend walks find new local hike trails and beauty spots to be used on every adventure we take the scouts on. A good waterproof is a must for camp especially when its time to either pitch up or strike down as the weather is normally relentless.
I used to love taking long walks in nearby parks in Kent - they were my means of self care and mindfulness. But for the past 4 years I've suffered with back pain and am lucky if I can manage a walk around the block. I finally at the point of being able to go for those longer walks and treks again and some wind and rain aren't going to stop me, so I'd wear this lovely jacket for just that :)
We are usually out walking all weekend, wherever we can with our dog Luna. Always take a waterproof, never tempt the fates, it would go everywhere! Local walks and in our National Park holidays 😊
I have a green one but would love one in another colour, they are fantastic, completely waterproof and lightweight. I wear mine everytime its pouring with rain whether on a long walk or down the shops!
Perfect for day to day use in town when it's wetter then an otters pocket, through to outdoor use in the Peak and some mountainous wanders, when conditions are too full on. Though it looks like it would probably deal with more than you'd expect!
From short local walks around the eternally wet Buxton and the Peak District, to bigger adventures in the Lake District and Scotland, this jacket would see it all!! ❤
Love the brand. I think the first place I would wear it would be to go to outside on a rainy day to put some gear that the jacket is replacing into the Re-Action bin. And maybe pick up a new Fitzroy Jkt or kryos
Great video. I would wear the Makalu when going up peaks in the Yorkshire Dales and Peak District. I'd also wear it around town during the colder months.
It’d go everywhere I go, these technical garments are no longer just worn by hardened “outside” types in the wilds, but are increasingly sported by those less hardened that can make day-to-day life that bit more comfortable in these winter months.
I'd wear the Makalu Jacket from the top of New Mills down to the crag under the bridge, whilst looking for the only dry rock within 150 miles after 6 days of rain. I'd wear it on the way back to the car too, not forgetting to stop at New Mills kebab shop for an XL Doner kebab and cheesy chips. Days like these are rare and deserve to be cherished.
I've been absolutely soaked on walks in the Lake District with a lesser jacket so much so I had to curtail a few walks. Would love to return with this jacket and finish a few uncompleted walks.
I'd wear it ticking off a few Monroes up in Scotland. It definitely had the credentials to stand up to the worst of the Scottish weather!. And some wet weekends in Wales too.
Being used a lot in grim weather, well count me in for any adventure in any place in the UK. I think that type of weather happens where ever you go at any time of the year here!! Beach or Mountain!
All ready have one mountain equipment jacket and it’s amazing, would definitely use this one for when outdoor climbing would especially be useful for the walk in’s.
I love my ME down jacket so this would be a great accompaniment ! I would wear it to finish off my winter wainwright challenge as a local Lake District dweller!
If I had the Mountain Equipment Makalu jacket, I'd wear it on all my hiking adventures around the UK, especially the fells of the lakes and munros of the Highlands!
I'd weared my jacket over the Christmas holidays walking in the beautiful Peak District. I love walking around Hathersage and coming into the shop for a well en coffee . I never walk out of the shop enter handed lol
This coat would be used for daily wet dog walks along with using it on the many adventures I have planned this year including the Yorkshire 3 peaks and amwa copper, bronze and silver backpacking!
Planning on walking The South West Coast Path in 2024 and I would wear The Mountain Equipment Makalu Waterproof Jacket when the rain pours down. The path is 630 miles long and runs from Minehead in Somerset in Poole in Dorset. The weather can be quite changeable and important to carry a waterproof jacket with me. This quality one would stop me getting sweaty. My current waterproof isn't goretex and I can over heat in it. This one is comfortable and stylish
After having failed the hike to the mueller hut in Mount cook village. I'll be taking this jacket straight back there with me to give it another whirl. Let's see if we can take it to 1700m!
If I was lucky enough to win the Jacket, I would pretty much wear it on most occasions, the work commute, the Sunday rambling group, around town, looks fab 👍🏻
With the new jacket it would firstly replace my old, dusty Columbia jacket and become my new everyday use jacket. Hopefully take it with me when I go travelling in Asia through the monsoon season in August!
Lots of places! Mainly in Snowdonia. I am not getting any younger and living with Bronchiectasis I need reliable clothing to make my walking adventures enjoyable.
I’d wear it when I was manning checkpoints/chasing the kids around on the next crazy adventure (this years was the Hope Valley Round to raise money for Edale Mountain Rescue!)
Looking forward to my trip to north wales this January, and it would be amazing to bring this jacket with me! Hoping for some winter conditions, fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞
From short local walks to long distance trails, sounds like the perfect jacket for when the weather takes a turn for the worst, and if it’s anything like my 23year old ME waterproof trousers it’ll keep me dry for years to come.

Just purchased one of these. Can't wait to take it to Scotland and Wales to try it out!

The perfect jacket for strolling around the Edale skyline this time of year. 😊
Love the mountain equipment brand. I’d wear it on all my hikes in the peaks, lakes, wales and Scotland ⛰️
Just be outside!! From walks to watching the local rugby club! Fresh air is our best medicine!

Oooo, that will be the perfect coat upgrade for some winter climbing in Scotland early next year
We are usually out walking all weekend, wherever we can with our dog Luna. Always take a waterproof, never tempt the fates, it would go everywhere! Local walks and in our National Park holidays 😊
I'd enjoy wearing it on my family walks around the High Peak. Looks perfect for a spot of rain!
100s of wet days here living in Scotland I would be so thankful for this!
I’d take it up to Scotland if I get a chance to go up this winter for some winter climbing!

This is so needed, I want 2024 to be a big year with me and the outdoors pushing my limits and living life to the fullest! Great prize 🥳
Great video. I would wear the Makalu when going up peaks in the Yorkshire Dales and Peak District. I'd also wear it around town during the colder months.

I'd hopefully getting up to Scotland this winter where it'd come in handy!
Brilliant for my local area in the Peaks, the Dark Peak especially. With the claggy and wet weather on the plateau, this would keep me dry 👌
