I was there in the crowd watching this. This skit got mostly zero reaction, no big laughs at all. "Cringe" is too strong a word, but it felt awkward and random and painfully unfunny. Comedy is an odd thing, and this was a major miss. The jokes didn't land, and the acting was off.
"Support Support - The Giver Within" last year was beyond godlike, the greatest skit in the history of Dota 2, feels like they were trying to capture that same energy but failed miserably. 2nd place would be "Overwatch Detective" with the film noir vibe. This one is officially DFL.
Im so glad its not my job to come up with creative dota2 content that appeals to the community.. Seems like a nightmare lol
@@Shellll ha oh no doubt! Everyone's a critic, I can't cook well but know when the food tastes not so good. Slacks almost always has a pulse on the community, it's telling that on Reddit he says he wasn't involved with this one, it clearly shows.
I think if they skipped the animation and had a different quicker way to get to the punchline of the new counselor it had potential and the meepo gag was too subtle. Sometimes comedy misses and making dota funny cant be easy. Shouldve went with a serious tone animation, nerds like us eat that shit up
