  • Everyone knows Cancun as the ultimate paradise destination with its white beaches and
5-star hotels. However, there is a barrio (neighborhood) called Villas Otoch Paraiso that is literally the most violent and dangerous place in Cancun. They say there isn't a day that goes by when you don't hear gunshots or police and ambulance sirens.
It's not that I don't trust what the media says about this area of Cancun.
It's that I always feel like I want to see what such a place looks like during the day and what the locals have to say!!
So I decided to take the risk and go to Villas Otoch Paraiso!
    Let's gooo!!

Born and raised in North Carolina. I’m a convicted felon that has never spent a day in prison. I say that to say that NC is lenient af when it comes to sentencing. Murderers regularly get less than 20 years here. 15 years is a SERIOUS crime, and what he described would never warrant that time. He either killed his daughter or is lying about the whole situation and did something completely different. Be safe Tim

I live in NC but know nothing about sentencing norms. Looking at his body language and story inconsistencies, he did time for something else. Maybe he killed his daughter accidentally (probably less time, though), or they went back to his apartment and found a serious stash of drugs. 15 years + deportation sounds like a plea agreement..

I love the Greeks and Greek language! I spent a month in 1995 wandering all over Greece. I’d learned the alphabet and phonetics before I went so that I could catch buses and read signs/ etc. in 1995! Much less was in English then AND it was the best time, we could still walk in the acropolis! Delfi! All the places with ancient temples and ruins. Not the same today, I’m so glad I spent that time, years ago in your country! I might hop over to Greece for a few days in March when I go to travel with my 21 yr old. We are gonna “wander” in Italy! That's what Cancun looks like almost everywhere once you leave the touristy areas. My father lives in Cancun and all the houses look like that almost everywhere. I've always said Cancun looks ugly once you get to the real Cancun. It doesn't have the charm that other older cities of Mexico have. It doesn't have that nice layout. It's literally a city that was slapped together and grew so quickly due to the tourism that started developing. I grew up in a really bad neighborhood and I've seen people die in front of me and lots of terrible things. So I have a different outlook when I travel to neighborhoods that other people don't go in. I usually get along with everybody fine. You treat everybody with respect so you have a less chance of getting disrespected. Awesome videos bro! Can't wait to see more

@@TS-mf6ff you're right. Its not always as simple as "respect". But when someone grows up in a neighborhood full of killers, you have a better understanding of a "killer" environment, versus somebody who has no idea about that side of life. It's like the saying goes, "you can't scam a scammer". That's the concept I'm getting at.

    • @JoeShepardsLife
      @JoeShepardsLife Рік тому +4

@@SoWellDunn just remember that 90% of the world is afraid of their own shadow. I grew up in a terrible neighborhood in Detroit where people are being shot and killed everyday and overdosing on the front lawn. And I will tell you that everybody would say not to go to that neighborhood, everybody would say that's a dangerous neighborhood. It's just like Chicago, everybody I talk to is afraid to go to the outskirts of Chicago especially at night, Tampa, Miami. But yet I've been to all those areas. All the areas that people say are dangerous, don't go there. I've been to all of them. Obviously most importantly you have to have wits about yourself. So just because somebody is afraid to go to a neighborhood doesn't mean it's a bad neighborhood. I mean I know so many people in the United States who are afraid to go to Cancun Mexico because they think they're going to get kidnapped and robbed. Come on. If you let people's fear dictate your life then you might as well not travel anywhere. You might as well stay in the house and not leave.

1 i did not call the ambulance
2 i left my other 6 months old baby at home alone ( with the Baby sitter who say'd the baby was sick and did not wanted to eat and then 10 min later he rushed to the Hospital ) so the 6 month old baby was not alone
3 we have some technical problems confirming number 3
      your wife..?

it is like me telling you : Yo man... listen up ! i had jumped of a 6 story telling building trying to save a Cat that jumps of the roof... it was like crazy br0 ! for real... i catch the cat mid air and when we landed on the roof we went straight trough it and killed the old lady who was just watching tv ow and the cat also died... they gave me 25 years man trying to save the Cat and that i did not call a ambulance...
This looks more like paying the victim Card... because why would they charge you when you drive your daughter choking to the hospital to save her life ? that is such a weird story... absolutely 0 empathy from the judge or jury what so ever... just because your Mexican and that is the reason. everyone hates you because your not American after something like this horrible happens they will give you 15 years just like that. Nou that sounds like some true HOOOORSE SJIIIIIIIIIIIT to me booooooooy
that evening : ajajajajaa that gringo ! he believed the 15 year old story AJAJAJAJAJAJAAAA guns shooting in the air drinking Tequila
shitty situation : so they could have let you go to mexico but in stead hold the Mexican guy for 15 years witch cost allot for any American citizen and in that process they know for sure breaking up the family and destroy everything he has that he is so depressed ( The guy wanted to kill him self for god sake ) they know for sure he would be happy to be free even moving back to Mexico... so that must have been the main reason rather just deport him back straight away. was it bad in prison ? Mexican was like owww nooo nonono the air was nice and the men oee laa laa it was like a walk in the Park in the weekend.
i would be probably dead the moment he told me that story, hahahahaa funny joke the Mexican guy would have say'd : here eat some free lead Puto

I grew up in a neighborhood where most people don't suffer economically, so I haven't seen a crime or anything crazy there for 11 years. It isn't safe because of the police, the police have easy jobs there because few residents feel the need to commit crimes out of necessity.

I don’t care how tough you are … but when a bunch of masked up men hop off a pick up truck with automatic guns while you’re strolling, or driving in a foreign country (Their Back Yard) it will make anyone crumble. Stay in groups of 2 or more. Like I said I’ve seen way too much crime here. Keep in mind the average Mexican only earn on average of $10USD a day! That’s 140 pesos. It is still a very poor country.

They will put u in jail for your kids dying in your hands and for leaving a 6 month baby at home by her self is another charge he admitted that it’s called child endangerment for the 6 month being at home by her self and the other charge was not for the ambulance not being called it’s because he waited to long to take her to the hospital and I’m probably sure he did not want in ambulance bill so he decided to take her but she was probably already dead so he got charged for involuntary death that charge alone is anywhere from
3 years to 10 years in jail plus the time he got for leaving the 6month baby by her self probably gave him the extra 5 years. He fucked up but he ain’t saying he didn’t

I enjoy your videos and and I will tell you the same thing that I’ve left on a Kurt video. When locals tell you to be careful and that it’s dangerous they don’t mean that the second you get there you’re gonna have 48 holes in your body. You are watched. Day and night by many. Especially when the local gang members that usually control those areas have people you don’t think otherwise to be informers. And when you feel most safe, you wake up tied up or don’t wake up at all. Just always be careful. You guys are all too young to lose your lives over an ego trip.

Thats the comment I was looking for. Totally true, 24hs in dangerous places mean nothing, the real problem is spend a entire life there.

Damn. I genuinely feel sorry for that guy u spoke with. Robbed 15 years of his life unfairly right after he lost his precious daughter 😓Then gets deported away!! I truly hope there are some great lawyers out there with a huge heart that would reach out to this man and help him out because it seems to me his humans rights have been violated greatly. Thank you for listening to him and giving him a voice. That was very heartwarming and thanks for being YOU.

When I was in Cancun when it first opened in 1977, there were snakes in the streets.
The local banditos rode down from the mountains and robbed everyone staying at
Club Med. I got terribly sick from something I ate. Tulum was just jungle then.

First "opened" ?? WTF are you on about ? It was founded in 1970.. and even then, there were still people living in the area beforehand. There are no mountains in Cancun. WTF are you telling stories for ?? 🤣

Mountains? That area is allmost as flat as Florida. I think you are confusing this with perhaps Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan or Acopulco?
