    I am full-time and I very rarely stay in any RV parks because I have 1100 W of solar on the roof of my motorhome and 800 amp hours of lithium batteries. I very rarely ever have to start my generator and my motorhome really is a power hog with a portable freezer and a compressor style refrigerator freezer plus all the goodies of a projector TV and air fryer. You will enjoy the batteries.

    As I never heard you mention your cost for these batteries, I must assume you got them for free. I also heard you talk of getting solar and you have probably already been contacted by some company looking to do that for free if you will do an infomercial video for them. I have been following you since the beginning and hope you don't become another UA-cam channel that constantly pushes the items that are given to you like so many others have done. Pretty soon your credibility is gone and you become nothing more than a sponsored mouthpiece. You say solar would be beneficial over running your generator as the generator requires fuel. You generator is paid for and solar is extremely expensive unless of course it's free. When you do your solar video, be honest about the true cost.

    • @oureverydaygetaway
      @oureverydaygetaway  Рік тому

      No, we have not been approached by a solar company. We have been offered many items to review but have only went with a few that we have researched and truly believe in. It takes a lot of time and energy to have a UA-cam channel (which we love) that doesn't really pay much of anything. We don't receive these items for free. We work very hard to give our honest review so hopefully it helps others make a wise decision if interested in the same product.

    Please remeber without an inverter your new Batteries will only run 12 volt items. I have Lithium on my RV and I never worry about waking up cold because the batteries died running the furnace. I was dry camping once and it was cold at night and my two Lead acid batteries totally drained running the heater! I and my family woke up cold(very cold) and no lights or anything. This issue has never happened again with my Lithium batteries. Enjoy them and use the heck out of them. the joy of not running your generator all the time will be worth it. Remember No hair dryer or any 120 volt systems work until you get an inverter. Here is a pro tip. #1 generator #2 Lithium #3 inverter #4 solar ( this order will help you determin how much energy you use and to size your solar better). Happy camping ( or living).

    I'm currently trying to add a portable 300W solar array to our 2003 Monaco knight 34PBD class A diesel pusher. I've got the panels, and a Victron 85/15 charge controller. I'm getting a disconnect and a Lynx distribution panel next. I want to upgrade from the four 6v golf cart Lead acid batteries which are connected series parallel. I'm thinking one or two Enduro Power EN300Baja 300AH batteries. I'll probably have to change my inverter/charger and add a shunt, etc. to the mix. Looking forward to more info from you.

    check your refrigerator for how many amps it draws from your batteries. Assuming it's 725Watt Residential 120 volt AC refrigerator, that would be 6.04 amps from AC circuit; 120x6.04= 725watts However, for DC to make 725watts, 725w/12v = 60.42amp. So, 4 100AH batteries will run the refrigerator compressor continuously for (400 x .9)/60.42= 5.96 hrs.. You can easily verify this, by looking at the victron 712 amp draw when you have the refrigerator compressor running.
    We have a Winnebago Navion which I replaced the Norco 3150 three-way refrigerator with a NovaKool 6400DC only 2 compressor refrigerator. Each compressor draws 4.4 DC amps or 8.8 DC amps when both compressors are running. We have 600 Watts Solar on the roof with an additional auxiliary port for ground solar up to another 500 Watts. However we found one 100 w panel is sufficient to run the refrigerator and the rest keep the batteries charged at 100%.

      I (Chris) hear ya. But try to understand our point of view. We are content creators trying to get reimbursed for our time and work. It really does come with the territory. Not complaining, but it does take a great deal of time to create a video. And you make no $$$ from YT itself. When you grow as a channel, offers come your way. And the vast majority are junk. The 3 that we have done, we love them and believe in them. So, what should we do if said company makes you an offer? As long as the companies are legitimate and we do our research, should we not try to make money for our services? I respect and understand your opinion, but really, what should I do?
      And Mary, you would be surprised how many people like these types of videos. They're informative and do well across the YT spectrum for many RV niche channels. That's why so many channels do them. And as a YT content creator, views and analytics will drive your decision to make these types of vids. They are in many ways a "necessary evil' if you want to grow and expand your audience. We love doing the "travel" vids (they're my favorite because they inspired us when we watched others) and will continue to primarily do those. I hope I gave you some insight and if you chose not to watch, we understand. No hard feelings and we totally respect your decision to do so. Like I said before, we truly hope to meet you someday. ✌

    Nice batteries. I like that they are bluetooth too. We really enjoyed your video and will be following you on your journey. We're retired FT RVers who love to boondock most of the time (we're off-grid now), so we decided to build our solar/battery system in 2 phases, a 12v phase for our basic 12v needs and a 48v system for our AC high power needs. The main issue we faced is we are retired and living on social security and a small pension, so have to do everything on a tight budget forgoing name brand components like Battleborn and Victron for lesser-known brands and must do all the work ourselves - which keeps getting harder as we age.
    We just completed the first phase in January, with the addition of a custom built 560ah of LiFePo-4 battery, made with 8, 280ah prismatic cells (which is the same kind of cells Enduro Power uses in their batteries. Think of it like 5 1/2, 100ah Enduro batteries. We used a Heltec 350amp BMS, to start the onboard 5,500watt generator in our motorhome, along with a 5a active balancer to keep all the cells synched up. We built our 12v battery with grade "A" LiFePo-4 prismatic cells having a 6,000 cycle manufacturer projected life at 100% DOD. This means that if we cycled them 100% every single day, 365 days a year, they would last over 16 years! So they're obviously going to wear out from age before they wear out from cycling. It only cost us $1,500 to build this 560ah battery, including the high amp BMS. The main reason we chose these cells (other than their price and quality) is that they fit perfectly under the steps of our motorhome where our old pair of GC-2 golf cart batteries used to reside, saving 35lbs while having over 5 times the energy storage capacity. We insulated the battery compartment, cut a 1" hole in our step risers and installed a tiny computer CPU fan to keep this space at close to room temperature, so we don't have to worry about the BMS shutting down charging if they get too cold - or their life reduced from getting too hot.
    We started our build 4 years ago with a 620-watt liftable array mounted on the side of our motorhome. It serves as a nice bedroom window awning too. It practically lifts itself to the desired angle with a couple gas struts and it's easy to clean with a windshield squeegee, standing safely on the ground. Lifting an array to the correct angle for latitude and month, produces 25-30% more power than a flat mounted array - even more in winter when the sun is low on the horizon. We typically use about 15-20% of our battery's capacity each day, running a desktop computer and a 55 " UHD TV most days till midnight. We've found they charge much faster than our old lead acid batteries did, and are typically full before 1:00. This first phase, including the liftable array, wiring, breakers, a new Progressive Dynamics 80a Li compatible converter/charger (we had an older converter/charger that we couldn't reprogram like yours), a 600w PSW inverter (to run our TV and PC), an Epever 50a MPPT charge controller for our solar panels, a Lnex battery monitor/shunt, and a Renogy battery to battery charger (to protect the alternator) cost us around $3,600.
    By mounting our current solar array on the side of our MH, we left the roof free to rack 8, 460W bifacial solar panels down the length of our 35ft Class A. The front side of these is rated at 460 watts with up to 25% additional wattage output from reflected light on the back side, for a total of up to 575 watts, depending on how they are mounted. We will be racking ours about 13" off the roof to clear our front AC shroud and vents. This clearance should conservatively produce another 10% output off the back of these bifacial panels, from sunlight reflected off our white roof - more during off-peak hours and in the winter. It will give us some nice shade too, reducing the heat load on our air conditioners. Our MH is only 11' 9", so we will be able to keep the RV height to about 12".
    Rather than buying individual components, we will be using a Sungold Power all-in-one 48V, 5,000W, 120V PSW Inverter, 80a MPPT charge controller with a 40a ac battery charger. The reason we chose this all-in-one is because the idle power consumption is only 25 watts - and it's only $800. Most this size have an idle power consumption over 70 watts and cost at least $1,200. Our 48v battery bank will use 16, 310ah prismatic cells (15.9Kwh.) So together with our 560ah (7.1 Kwh)12v bank, we will have a total of 23Kwh of batteries onboard (the equivalent of about 18, 100ah Enduro batteries. We will be replacing our old rear 13.5k btu rooftop Dometic AC with a super high-efficiency 12k Btu 48v DC mini-split heat pump that only draws 750 watts at peak output and less than 500 watts when it's cooling normally. This second phase will cost about $10k, including the heat pump, as we plan on doing all the work ourselves. Our 2nd phase will provide 24/7 off-grid air conditioning and supplemental heat from the heat pump and allow occasional usage of our front rooftop AC to cool things down for peak afternoon demand, as well as give us whole house 120v ac power. This will give us total off-grid electrical independence, allowing us to keep our generator in reserve for emergency use only. Our complete system will add about 900 lbs. which will put us just under at our MH's weight limit. Our gasser only has 3,700 lbs carrying capacity, but I'm sure your diesel coach has much more capacity than ours. It would have put us over, but we sold a couple electric bikes, replaced a heavy glass shower door on our tub with a curtain, moved all our heavy tools to our toad and made a couple loads to the Good Will to get us under.
