The concert (Can't Wait Till I'm out of K-12) was AMAZING by the way. She had these amazing, high fashion outfits, really unique/conceptual sets, and she sang just as well as she did on the studio versions, even better sometimes. I missed the experience of being there in person, but I didn't miss the experience of standing around waiting, getting sucked into a mosh pit, or holding in my pee for hours. I kind of hope this virtual concert trend stays LMAO.

I’m tired of this story I just wish it hadn’t happened, it sucks to be a survivor and to have this kind of thing happen and believe someone on principle only to have it be a gross lie. I have some issues with Melanie’s content but this shit, no one deserves to go through this. I hope they’re both getting the mental health support they need.

Sure she apologized but it’s honestly far too late for it, even if she does feel sorry. If she feels sorry then good. She should be sorry. In honesty this doesn’t change anything, Mel has moved on. I’m not surprised though, we figured out it’s fake like what, a good year to a year and a half ago? Like i said, yeah she apologized, but there’s no point anymore unless she just does a quick apology.

I also agree. It’s never really too late to do the right thing and while it initially doesn’t do anything, it sets the person who did the wrong on a path to becoming a better person.

It's extremely hard to forgive her. But I a willing to if she really does want to change, and regrets her actions.
For me, she just needs to release. Timothy has wasted years just trying to bring this case back to the surface, but for what? Her apology was definitely fake the first time, but this one seems real.
But also she has yet to make a public apology. This one is a private one that she can claim is a fake photo made by a Melanie fan (again). I’ll believe she’s sorry when she makes it public for all to see and not do a quick delete so people can be accused of faking screenshots of it.

Maybe this is a bit far fetched but what if sending that message was something her therapist suggested she do? And she’s like working her way up to a public apology. When I had to cut off my very toxic friend my therapist would advice me to like slowly cut her off. So first send her a message saying I needed space, then slowly spend less time with her. And so on.
I can completely believe that. Even though she had no right to do what she did and she took far too long to admit or apologize, I do feel at least a little sympathetic towards her. I have recently been researching BPD (a disorder that she has) and have concluded that she was probably acting on her mental illness. Although that doesn't give her a pass for what she did, I can now understand a little more. I dont know if Melanie will accept any apology from Heller, but if she does, then I will do the same.
I'd like to add: i hope that she does come out with a public apology soon, because Melanie deserves that, and the general public should know the truth. Using SA to tarnish someone's name and "get back" at them is pretty damn awful and Heller should be ashamed by her actions. Hopefully she is taking the necessary steps to be better and is getting the help she needs.
This is actually not far fetched at all, it was exactly what I was thinking when I made that commentary. Because no therapist would say "jump in and apologize to 8,000,0000 people who hate you, a scenario that I couldn't imagine myself." But apologize to one person, that's far more digestible.

The woman who was most affected by this encourages empathy and love, so I will do the same. No one is entitled to your forgiveness, but I recommend keeping it an open option, because otherwise there's little motivation for people to do better for others and themselves. So I encourage everyone to give Timothy positive reinforcement if she does do a public apology, rather than to tear her apart, even if it's not a perfect apology. If this is really a baby step in the right direction like I think it is, I don't want to see #TimothyIsOverParty trending if she decides to do the right thing. Instead, I encourage you to thank her for apologizing/ retracting her allegations. This has been going on for 3 years, and it's time to end it.
yeah I agree! it's the people who have falsely been accused and Melanie to accept or deny this apology. not anybody else. I just know that I could never support somebody who can fasley accuse people that easily.

I will never have empathy for people who faked/joked about ræpe. This is such a intimate and fragile topic and she even used it to ruin someone else’s career. No therapy will help someone who was fucked up from the start and never felt sorry for it in the first place, until they were called out.
You in no way have to have empathy for anyone if you don't want to, but please don't spread the idea that people who do this type of thing can't be helped. It's medically inaccurate and incredibly harmful to other people with BDP or other stigmatized mental health conditions.

I used to exhibit harmful behaviors towards others as a result of my symptoms and how they made me feel/think before I started to really get a full understanding of my BPD and how to cope with it in healthy ways. I still have my days, ofc, but I have done a hell of a lot of research and therapy; learning about BPD itself, the schema modes, cognitive distortions, DBT skills like effective communication, etc to get me to the much healthier place I'm in today. People with severe mental illness and personality disorders are absolutely not beyond help and while yes it's important not to excuse toxic behavior, everyone deserves empathy. There is a big difference between making excuses to rid yourself of guilt and providing the context behind behaviors that you're still guilty of regardless. How do you expect someone to learn and do better when you tell them they can't and refuse to acknowledge any progress?

@@petrauhrakova I understand your reasoning and your feelings are justified, however a person doesn't need a personality disorder (tho, yes, Timothy has BPD) in order to be able to get help and improve themselves. People don't just do bad things for no reason and the notion that some people are just "fucked up from the start" is a harmful one even if your reasons for saying it are understandable.
She said she did it because she was jealous of her career..and I absolutely thought from the jump that is why she lied... She should be criminally charged. She can be forgiven..anyone can..but she accused Melanie so very publicly so why didn't she apologize just as publicly..because she is still worried more about her own reputation. If she can't own up to the public has she really changed? I doubt it. Regardless I hope she is getting the help she needs. Falsely accusing someone of assault especially because you want their career is disgusting and puts a strain on real victims of assault coming forward. That is just the very unfortunate truth.
So as a teen i really liked Melanie Martinez and I believed her, but “body language analysis” is not something backed in science and is actually very ableist and oversimplified. Yes you can use your basic social skills and some critical thinking skills to come to a conclusion, but to pretend like it’s something that an expert can just look at and say “yup, shes lying” is VERY harmful to victims of SA and has been used to discredit women.

Yes, me too! I still get very anxious when making it known I'm a Mel fan. Wearing her merch, playing her music, even talking about her. I don't get attacked online much, but I get a lot of "Do you know what Melanie did?" "Why are you supporting a rapist?" etc. comments and it really dulls my day, y'know?

I used to be a diehard crybaby when I was a kid but what is this? I'm really sorry, but this ""evidence "" feels very dubious at best, and false at its worst. Its just not adding up, especially for such serious accusations. Why would someone dm a random person as an apology for SA allegations instead of a public apology? I think you might wanna reconsider this one, Crow. I'm not trying to come from a place of hate, please understand. Mel's career was not ruined, Timothy's was. No one will ever come forward with anything if it's true if the community responds to it by immediately attacking them. Please do better 🙏🏽

I don’t believe Timothy, but that message also looks completely fake to me. I could be wrong, but that response was just worded so unnaturally. Typing Melanie’s full name was weird within this context, since the person she was replying to should know which Melanie she’s referencing. @@kisskill9438 obviously, but if anything, her therapist is probably recommending her apologize privately first. my point was that no one actually knows if she did or didn't apologize, so no one should assume she did or didn't. if she did, that's between timothy and melanie. we've gotta remember who was the most hurt by this. if she didn't, she'd better do so at some point, because melanie was deeply hurt by this.

I can't imagine being a victim to SA, coming out with a detailed story of your experience, your rapist confirming it happened publicly and avoiding any empathetic engagement with the situation ('She never said no to what we chose to do together') and then Melanie stans create FAKE a screenshot of your supposed 'confession'.
I think a popstar releasing a 'diss-track' in response to allegations is also one of the most crazy things I've ever seen a popstar do. Especially considering that her fanbase wholly accepted it and saw it as a rally-cry to harras the victim and conjure up the narrative that the victim was just 'fame seeking'. How many times will victims of famous people have to endure that narratve?
My heart hurts for Timothy and any other victims of SA who have gone through something like this in such a large scale way

Whether this apology is real or not imma just state my piece on the whole Mel vs. Timothy thing:
First off, the miscommunication done willingly by Timothy supporters. Mel didn't say "She never said no." Mel said, "She never said no to things we did together." Meaning if they DID have sexual relations, it was all consensual. Purposely misconstruing Mel's words doesn't make y'all or Timothy look any better.
Second, Timothy's "evidences" didn't add up to me. Mel was the one with the blindfold and handcuffs on in one of the photos. If Mel was making inappriorpriate remarks towards her prior to playing a Valentine's day game with her, then why would she still play?? The date she claimed it happened got debunked cuz Mel's fans went back and saw that Mel was in another state and been there for a while, in which Timothy replied with "Of course I wouldn't remember the date. It happened long ago." If you knew that the date wasn't going to be 100% correct, then why did you give a specific date to begin with? 🤔
Then, suddenly, a friend of Timothy's was also SA'd by Mel?? The allegations just felt forced IMO. Hard to tell whether Timothy is telling the truth or not when her evidences were so jumbled (not to mention the constant changing of dates). As a CSA victim, I don't remember the time nor month of my assault, all I remember was that I was the place and that I was very young. I can prolly make a guess around the YEAR or my own age, but not the month specifically.
Body language isn't reliable enough to decide whether someone is lying or not. Just putting that out there.
Yes, it's true fans will disbelieve the victims and make excuses for the celebrity, but honestly, this whole allegation just felt off to me. Again not here to say it did or didn't happen. None of us were there. The truth will come out soon.
Also Timothy making light of her own alleged assault (by making memes and jokes about it) rubbed me the wrong way. I understand everyone copes differently, but I've yet to meet a SA victim that keeps reminding themselves of a traumatic event and joking about it happening and no one believing them.
All Timothy wants is to be in the spotlight, she doesn’t care that she damaged Melanie’s Career with false allegations. I’m glad that she apologized but she’s dug herself down a hole she can’t climb out off.

I don't think an apology changes everything. It changes the way people view the situation in the future but it doesn't change everything, Timothy making that *fake* accusation from the beginning makes it very hard for future SA victims to come out. Even if it helped some at the time, people will point fingers and say "see, this is just jealousy." So sad :/
Very true as I'm a victim myself and was very disappointed in Timothy when this was first going on and everyone found out she was lying. However, at least this can clear Mel's name even more and I think that's something. Timothy wasn't the one who started the lying thing unfortunately :/ but I hope she learns from this and grows as a person

I feel like it's not our place to decide whether we forgive Timothy or not, just whether we support her. At the end of the day, Melanie was the one most affected, and I dont just mean reputation. It was probably a big hit to her mental health, so it's really all her choice to accept Timothy's apology or not (If Timothy ever makes a public one).

Just a note, but I will say that it is incredibly easy to fake a post online and take a picture of it. All you have to do is pull up the inspect tools for the site you're on and then select the element you want to change and remove and write whatever text you want. Pull out your phone, take a photo and 🎉 incriminating post.

Well I mean forgiving others it's more for us than it is them. Even if we deem that a certain action is unforgivable, we should forgive anyway to lighten the burden of carrying around baggage or malice towards someone

I know that this was awhile ago but these accusations against Melanie hurt alot
Being a survivor SA, when I first saw the accusations, I was honestly pissed. I didn't think Melanie would do something like that, but I will always believe the victim and so I stopped listening to Melanie for years honestly, I didn't completely stop I had a separate playlist of just her songs so I'd listen to them occasionally, but Everytime I remembered the accusations I couldn't listen to her. I got back into her this year because my cousin told me that they are fake. I still don't know 100% if they are fake because one one hand, I don't think Melanie would do something like that, but on the other hand nobody though my abuser would do that either, so I'm very conflicted, although I continue to listen to Melanies music and hope that one day Timothy apologizes publicly and admits that the accusations were fake.
@@dudeperson7858 but she could have just guessed the date and didn't remember the real date. Maybe she was scared to admit she made up the date or guessed it cause everyone would call her an overall liar about her experience.
She included pictures and had about 2 years to conclude her evidence and statement. I call bs that she guessed and if she did guess she should have disclosed that. She did a lot of stuff that falls into 2 categories. She truely forgot.. could be… but then she had pictures with dates and could recollect only after fans investigated for her. But… if fans can disprove you in 3 days but it took you 2 years and you still got it wrong… you either don’t really care.. or…. YOU LIED! She lied. About that at least.

These pictures dont make any sense. I dont think its real. Like she messaged a random user just opening up about lying and making sure to be super specific with what she’s talking about as if the person she was talking to doesn’t already know what has happened. you can temporarily edit text on a webpage by right clicking the words, hitting inspect, and typing what you want into the text box so a photo of a scream doesnt mean much but the fact the page includes timothy's pfp, deactivated handle, and a text bubble does mean she had some kind of interaction with this person so thats what i believe this for

The fact that only one single, random person on Tumblr has received a message like this, this isn't substantial or reliable evidence and yet piper is treating it like it's super legit. Incredibly irresponsible given their platform.

She should release a public statement. I understand that it’s frightening to do so but it’s the best way to clear the air and would be far better received than private admissions in DMs. Plus, there are still people out there who believe the allegations and a public recantation of her statements would help to heal Mel’s reputation completely.
