When my husband and I were first dating back in 1980 we saw Twisted Sister at this little club in Brooklyn. Great show!!!!!! My husband just died this past September. Life will never be the same but this song will always make me smile.
So sorry for your loss! I hope this helps... Those we love, those who make us who WE are, never die. They go on living in our memories to continue making us who WE are; Love is everything. Take good care of yourself my friend Xx
As a former band geek, I can honestly say that the arts are WAY more important than sports. This performance was epic af and should be our universal battle cry.
As a former D&D geek since 1980 who became a kickboxing and mma champion I can honestly say both athletics and the arts and having exposure to both is WAY more beneficial. I was a long haired 15 year old kid watching Dee testify before Congress. He showed me we could fight back even against the largest bully the US Federal Government. If we keep scholars and warriors apart, all of our thinking will be done by cowards and our fighting done by fools.
When I was a band geek, back in the late 1980s, it always seemed like the the arts were underrated and under-supported. I even wrote a "letter to the editor" to the school paper about it. Of course, I was ridiculed for saying anything. My fellow band geeks were in total support.......
Dee, you legend. Winston Churchill was told by one of his advisers during World War Two, that they should cut funding to the arts to assist with funding for the war. Churchill's reply was, "if we do that, then what are we fighting for?"
I never really got into Twisted Sister or Dee Snider when I was younger. But I got to say my hat's off to the guy he's got some mad respect for the Arts.
30 years later and I still love this song. This has to be the most awesome version ever. Dee still speaks the truth. Fight for your rights always or they'll be gone!
over 20 years ago the geman punkrockband "donots" made a cover of this masterpiece. and they are playing it on every concert. it doesnt matter if it is in a small club or on a big festival the crowd goes crazy. you have to check out this cover
This is crazy, it's literally like something you'd see in a movie where the misfit band class rallies together to put on a benefit concert to stop the school board from firing their band teacher or cutting the band program all together.
This performance just gives chills. The legendary frontman of one of the great bands of all time from Gotham, NYC: Dee Snider of Twisted Sister rocking his classic with these kids for a school performance bringing awareness to the plight of school programs suffering from government cuts. SUPPORT ALL SCHOOL PROGRAMS! = )
His melodic version for the Criss Angel Childhood cancer foundation is so outstanding. Speaking of the government, they owe him and TS royalties because the military blasts this as a fight song all the time, even now.
Music in school actually helped my son get a college degree in chemistry. It helped him focus on his studies. I can tell you what would happen if schools dropped sports programs. The welfare system would break.
Fine Arts, like music, can help kids build and develop that part of the minds to think, helps them develop that appreciation for the many forms of art, and helps develop that craft part of the brain.
The problem with pitting sports against fine arts is that, other than facilities, very little of the money spent on sports comes from the school's general fund. It is a question of emotional priorities, not fiscal ones.
I absolutely love it when successful musicians give a crap! These kids will always have this moment and will motivate them in music for decades! Your musical passion and influence is totally on your sleeve, Dee! Love ya!
Thank you Dee Snyder for being part of the solution! Great job! What an experience for the kids to have a professional come and show them how to rock! First Class Dee, First Class!!!!
Gotta be a major trip for those kids to be on the same stage with that caliber of star! And then to have him give them and their program such high praise and support has got to be the single biggest moment of their lives! So cool, and Dee Snyder is a top notch rocker!
This actually sounds better then the original! Dee is the man! I've actually had the pleasure of meeting Dee at one his Van Helsing shows, great guy very humble and so down to earth! Respect!
The day the arts die will be a sad day for humanity. Played trumpet my entire school career, picked up guitar drums and piano because of it and I couldn’t imagine my life without music in it. Keep fighting kids, there’s generations of us that are behind you!
I love it I am 52 years young and I shtedf on my guitar every day and will until I can't anymore man that was rocking out this music now days sucks bring back rock n roll well to me it never left but Rock on baby
For many years my old band practiced in a storage unit, You may think its crazy but I dont. I hope everyone invests in storage units like 100 for musicians to practice in. Have them in every county in your State. Bands can be forever that way ! Best investment ever ! Take care next generation !
It be a great day as a parent when your kid comes home from school and says, "mom dad I will performing in an live recording orchestra with Dee Snider singing, Where not going to Take it." wow !
Can't believe I have not come across this clip before! 11 years old! Amazing! I played in the school band, Orchestra, wind band and a quartet whilst at school in the UK (over 40 years ago!) plus I saw Twisted Sister three times in London back in the day and Dee is just the best rock singer out there. And what a genuine nice guy as well. I can never get enough of clips like this. Thanks for posting - and your playing is amazing too!
I'm glad to see young musicians play and enjoy classic rock and not today's junk music. Much respect to them and Dee Snider for this awesome tune. Recently I got into symphonic metal and rock with orchestra backing. This video is great. I'm in my 60's and when I was around 19 there was a bar in Monroe Township, near Jamesburg, New Jersey where they offered $1.00 Heineken Tuesday night with no cover charge. They had a band called Twisted Sister playing. That was around 45 years ago. Dee Snider still rocking and so am I. Friends, educate and encourage your children about real music like this and not the trash the media and music outlets expose our children to.
Marcella Ruso they better not dare cut sports! This country has an obesity issue and cutting sports will just add to that. It's sad, but sometimes arts have to be cut for the more important things in life.
Marcella Ruso That's not right to say cut sports instead of music. For some kids, sports is just as much a release as music/arts are for others. Neither should be cut. Maybe more federal funding should have gone towards saving music/arts than putting it towards Obama phones.
Why cut either one? Music gives kids the creative freedom to express themselves and sports give them the chance to create lifelong relationships and help them learn to work with other people.

The absolute best version of this song ever recorded.
Those high school choir kids will remember this day for the rest of their lives.

Nah, they wouldnt know who Dee Snider is so they will not process it too much
As someone who was on that stage that day, I still remember it and always will 🥰
@@biggestmistakes I got to meet Dee myself, when he performed on the USS Nimitz for a USO show.
Dee is an amazing human being!

Such a great memory, sorry for your loss.
Even at 60 his voice never changed God bless Dee Snider

amazing he still has a voice after screaming rock tunes for forty years
I heard him crack just a little near the beginning but he recovered awesomely. He sings much better than I ever did .
Dee is an outstanding man. The House Of Hair Rules man!
“We’re Not Gonna Take It” had to be the teenage anthem of the 1980s. I definitely credit Dee Snider for keeping the music alive!
Para mis amigos y para mí lo era
Dee Snider been living close to the fountain of youth. He hasn't aged at all

Why does this feel like the climax to a particularly great movie?
because it is, they used it in Ready Player One
This should be on school of rock soundtrack.

I’d love to have this played at full volume outside Parliament with everybody singing it

That electric violin was awsome!!

I so agree...I am glad the solo was done by a violin and not a guitar
I agree, it was actually cool to play a violin and he rocked it!! Never heard one do that before!
he nailed it times two.
I was going to point that one out as an "electric twanger".
He is a true live performer he puts a smile on your face
That's my childhood hero, still telling it like it is. This song is still so relevant.

Cut scene the head of the council fires the princble that is trying to cancel the music programe then keeps the music programe open.
