Was a snowmobile mechanic for 7 years back in the carburetor era,, easiest way to get fuel to the pump/carbs= find vent line for tank, plug it or hold it folded over to seal off, blow in tank with your mouth sealed up against the fuel filler opening, when you feel pressure build, hold it there, it is pushing the fuel through the lines, usually takes less than a minute. You can also use an air compressor ,air chuck and a rag, use rag and chuch at fuel filler, hold rag to seal with air chuck at fuel opening, lightly preqserise the tank that way. Works evert time. Yor problem is you haven't payed your roTAX lol,, also make sure pulse vac line from crank case to pump is good. Great videos!
So glad you are back in action this year! Your content makes me feel like fixing things, getting outside and enjoying my life more fully. Thumbs up for the MXZ 670 make it your main sled (similar to my Formula SS 1995 670). Lets both mod the sleds this year!
@@rumplestiltskin1056 I had a 97 670 once I did a top end rebuild that sled ripped hard but didn’t quite have the looks to me at least of the next generation sleds. I sold that one and now have an 05 renegade 600.
picked up a ‘96 mxz 583 this past fall, just waiting for the snow to fly now! I had a bunch of issues with my recoil too. Still doesn’t work perfectly and sure it will break at some point this season. Seems like they weren’t designed to last 25 years 😒 she runs like a top though! Hope you get yours working
Just came across this channel. I just picked up a 1996 mxz583 for free. Not getting fuel, fuel pump rebuild time. Was sitting since 2017. Carbs are super clean. Guy said he had to prime it a ton to get it to start, yeah that’s fuel pump. Replacing the primer too.
Its so nice watching your videos. You make my day even better. And i can see you dont got any snow yet? We have lots of snow here in Sweden. I can send you some if you want? haha, but i think it will melt....Keep up the good work, waiting for the snow coming to you and some snowmobile action!
Crazy, I was just coming to your newest video to ask you an Mike or anyone else who wants to answer. How often do just replace the fuel pump vs just taking it apart and cleaning it. I work on outboards and usually just buy new ones without even looking inside the old ones. Engines are usually 1970 to 1990 though. Super old. That being said I see you an Mike just clean em an slap em back in.
This year I got a '97 Arctic Cat 580 powder special! I bought it last year and thus far the only maintenance i have had to do is throw in a new Stator. I am not the well educated into the sled game yet (2nd year) so I have had a friend of mine help me out when it comes to changing parts and etc
A quick way I prime up my sleds is to take the fuel shut off line that goes to the tank off, and then blow into it. When you hear it blowing out of the tank vent, fold the line and slap it back on and fuel will gush out. I'm riding polaris by the way. '92 440 sport and 500 efi sks, and a '97 xlt 600 that ate its crankshaft two days ago 🤘 rock on buddy!
Keep it - it's a great sled. Myself, I have two Arctic Cats. One is a 2003 ZL600 and the other a 2006 Panther 660. Growing up in Southern Vermont we always seemed to have Artic Cats and to this day I remain 'brand loyal' even though I admire other makes and models.
Riding a 1992 Polaris Indy 500, it’s in near mint condition. This my second year with this machine and absolutely love it. Been watching for a season or two and have caught the snowmobile bug
Pro primin tip. On the skidoos usually they stop priming, but I found a bypass. Take the line that comes to the fuel pump from the tank and put it straight on the primer T then connect the lines going from the T into the carbs again and blow in your gas tank. And boom both carbs primed with no primer. Happy riding! Added make sure to disconnect the lines after starting, it bogs very hard when they are left on.
When it doesn't start like this? I take a small twig from a tree about a 5/16 inch diameter. And put it into the thumb throttle to hold it open? It seems to do the trick. You just have to remove it quickly or the sled will take off on you.
Here I am trying to climb my way out of owning an old sled and you are wanting this old sled as your main sled... I just got a 2013 Polaris pro RMK 800 and no way in hell would I sell it to ride an old Ski-Doo ! Great content though !
Gotta watch those mikuni slide carbs. If they sit without fuel, the o ring around the float assembly will shrink and fuel will not shut off flooding the sled when running. have to remove the 2 phillips screws on float assembly to get to the o-rings. Also its a pain in the ass but check on the isoflex if you have over 3K miles. I found bad bearings on the mag side. All the grease had been sucked into engine. Wouldn't have lasted long had I kept riding it. I replaced the bearings and all gaskets
if you find the mxz x they are spring model only sleds they are really hard to find alot of them got totaled or hidden away usually red in color or black and yellow
My brother just bought a 1980 blizzard 9500 with the sc10 suspension and front suspension from an mxz, and they retrofitted the 583 rave motor also.. it’s a bad mother fugger
I love these type of your videos always click when I see it, keep doin what your doin you should defenetly keep the MXZ its cool i wish i had one also I got a 03 rmk 550
Best way to test for water in the fuel is putting a few drops of food coloring in. The dye will not mix with the fuel but will dye all the water that color otherwise it will sit in little beads in the tank.
Hi Jeremy. I've recently found your channel while as I've been learning how to work on snowmobiles. I have a 2001 Skidoo MXZ 600 2 stroke that I just started having a problem with. I swapped out the spark plugs and found that even with brand new ones I'm still not getting much spark (maybe 5 sparks out of 50 pulls). I'm trying to figure out if the problem is in the ignition coil or the stator coil (I'm assuming the wiring harness is fine). Do you know of any good way to test them?
Awesome video I get super happy when you uppload new awesome videos to your youtubechanel you are awesome jeremy in sweden it is full on winter right now and it is about 4" of snow out side and i might buy a yamaha vmax 600 xtc becaus they are cheap to own and cheap to ensure
Jst to let u know u aren’t using the choke right u pull it out and then start it till it starts and dies then u push it in and then u pull the rope , also it should take 7 pulls after u empty it also all tht junk in the pump u should of clean ur carbs they probally have jet full also a trick is there a hose tht goes into carb suck on it with straw or mouth untill u see gas tht means u primed it all then hook it up to carb it should start on first -secound pull everytime
I want to see down below what YOU are riding this year!! Let's hear them sleds!! Thanks for watching! I appreciate every single one of you!

I miss your early 2000s MXZs those sleds are the best.

Definitely ride the 583 , those motors are bullet proof mine sat on the bottom of the lake for a month and has been running strong for 3 years 😂
I like that sled, you should use that this year
You should definitely keep that sled for the winter. I ride a 1997 Mxz 670 and there fun sleds for sure !
You got some Kool videos to love the 670s 🤙😎
LETS GOO THE BEAST HAS UPLOADED
Thank you, sir! :) I'm not going anywhere.
@@JeremyRhydes of course, I started rewatching all the old videos but thank you so much for putting all this great content for all of us!

My 3rd year riding my 98 Mxz 583 only 1700 miles runs and rides like a champ

2006 polaris fusion 600. Buy one of those so I can learn how to fix it..... love the videos. Wait all year for the sled content
Can't wait for lots of snow for sure
That sled comes from Quebec!
2020 850 assault. Love it. Your assault is your best sled.. unless your getting good money, don't sell it

I'm riding a 2004 rx1 I bought last year but it's a warrior version wich means it has the extended track I'm up in Michigan and am ready for snow!
Working on an MXZX 440 myself. No gas led me to the carbs right away and then I found a leak underneath the carbs on what I think is the return line.

I’m so happy your making videos I thought you disappeared! And I currently ride a 2000 mxz 700

Me and my buddies found this out on his skandic 503r on its first start in 9 years
keep it
Love to see that as ur main sled or an mxz700 zx chassis
I’ve always pulled the plugs out & poured a little bit of fuel down the plug hole(s). Saves time and your pull handle.
Just purchased an 05 polaris 900 rmk! Got the old 93 arctic cat cougar 440 in the shed until I can fix it this summer.
check the fuel inlets in each carb from the pump. they have little screens in there that can clog. most have been removed but worth a check..
that sled is a score. To find a 96 mxz with the factory exhaust and tunnel boards not bent is really hard to find.
i have a ski doo MXZ 600
Thats cool, you got the same chassis as one of your first sleds but faster.
I have the same sled , it’s a beast
This Video has everything. SMOKE, FIRE & HOT SAUCE!

Yes you should keep it. Bro
Thumbs up..what's the best line to replace your old fuel lines with??
cant wait too you ride this winter dawgggggg
Jeremy's back at er we are too waiting fir the snow in pei
Glad to see I’m not the only one who about dies when trying to crank my sled over lol. First few rides of the season my body hates me 😂

Big adventure over here and that's awesome ! keep up the good work bro
i also love the formula 500 its my first sled and im gonna be driving this season im stooookeeed
Nice. The KLR brought me here a while ago but enjoy the sled videos as well. No sled now but next year maybe a new Skidoo Tundra.
My 2002 Polaris edge x 600 ,had bout 4 years ,so far been a good sled
Awsome video as always, you need to have mike back on and work on some old 70s and 80s sleds. Especially a Elan or Citation
Picked up a 91 Arctic cat ext 550 last year and got it running the end of last season

Yes, keep the old girl 😎👍. I wish I still had my old 99 Formula dlx 500
Keep the sled, i ride a 1989 formula plus LT. Like you said easiest sleds to work on, but parts are getting hard to come by.

I had to readjust the bowl air screws lil bit.from 1 1\4 to 1 1\2 . Got power & hook up in return as well as idle
I am a beginner and I have a ski doo formula 583 with a built motor and I can not wait to rude it this year
98 mxz 583...97 Mach 1. But the USA built primer on Ebay.
Love it man, the new sleds are cool but the old mystery sleds are way more entertaining.
Good videos man good to see a local guy making good content would like to ride with you sometime
She is a 96 not a 97! Convert that recoil to a newer zx style pulls over way easier. Braaaaaaaaap
I’m riding my 1992 ext 550 with a 159 long track on it and a bone stock 1997 Polaris xlt until it sells. Just need more snow around here !

I’ve had to put some oil on the primer shaft to get it to squirt.
You should put a mean can on it if you use it as your main this year
Last couple of years I did same things on same sled. I gave up. Hurts my shoulder watching you pull that thing over.
My first sled, which is still my only sled is a 1995 formula 500! :)
It’s amazing how a 20 minute job ends up taking days. Just when you think you have it done, you find another problem. We’ve all been there.
that's what you get when you have a snowmobile .. problem but it is so fun 😁
Also those doos are notorious for peimer line getting a leak and blowing the motor
kink the gas tank vent like and put some air psi to the tank, seal around the fill. It will prime the fuel lines....
