Here in sweden i was reseller and importer of another russian brand of "dogs" before and i noted that it was extremely hard to use it properly in other than flat terrain.. the slightest sideway angle for example if you drive on an open field with a slight banking angle and the dog will always strive to go downhill making it extremely physical to drive. Also due to solid suspension on both sides of the track it resulted in if for example you hit a treestump or a stone under the snow on one the right side of the machine it will turn directly left and there is nothing you can do from the drivers location to keep it from turning.. and if there is a tree to the left.. well.. you know.. This together with the regulations in sweden and europe that are much harder to cope for made me loose interest in this type of machines. BUT this video showed me some improvments for sure. Can you please tell me if you noticed any tendencies like i listed above on this machines?
I live in Minnesota and I would LOVE one of these!! Awesome! I love the Russian mentality to build a tough, affordable machine to do a job. In the US .......... it'd have to have built in child safety seats, backup cameras, turn signals, and cost 10 times as much and be half as durable.
I'd like to see a more in-depth testing of it's fire ratting. I often have my off road machines on fire when I run them off of cliffs.... great review though.
People falling off towed cars, clear taped phone to the sled, jumping, pushing the sled off a cliff while it's on fire, you only see these in a Russian test, love it
There were a few snowdog dealerships in the US last year. The cost was between 3 and 5k smallest is a 7hp and the biggest is 13 and has a reverse gear. Theyre built like gocarts, easy to work on.
I had a Bolens Hus-ski when I was a kid, not a fast machine, but it could tow a half dozen kids on super slider snow skates around the fields for fun all day long, we took turns driving so everyone could have a go at it, would love to have one of these rigs again.
I've got a snow dog for the deep snow in Alger County. It's a gas! Tricky, yes, upper body work out and occasionally diving too deep and getting stuck. Don't hit a stump or stone on ANY snow machine dum wit. Nothing like floating on deep powder though, but does like a previous track.
These machines are very nice and useful. I’m not sure what’s considered new about them though? I know even 40-50 years ago we were using them in Wisconsin to snake pulpwood product out of the woods/swamp in places it was impractical to use the skidder. However advantage snowmobile for having a suspension for the rider.
Snow dog is the only brand available in the United States i hope im wrong. I looked it up last year ready to buy one and thought to myself I wish i had the "freedom" to chose from 8 brands like in Russia.
@@jasonstewart3748I don’t think I would want to be on this thing on a muddy or dusty trail. I’ll stick with my Widetrack snowmobile and side by side with a windshield and top for rainy days.
I also had a Bolens Hus-ski and can see simularities in the two. The hus-ski could manouver very well in deep snow with the wooden cleats and angle iron for the ice. The Tofalar does not have this feature. With the Hus-ski I could put my shoulder against a tree and circle the tree. I find that this type of motorized sleds are more usefull in the woods then on an open lake or field. There is the snowmobile good for. I am inpressed with the test, however a test in the forest in deep snow should really tell if it is better than the Bolens Hus-ski. Is there an option to add the wooden cleats for deep snow traction?
Can't replace snowmobile what comes to riding experience and speed but I can see the simplicity of the design and benefits it brings. Definitely seems long life and low cost vehicle but hard to see any large scale use. It may be good for fishermen, but they are quite small target group.
One market it would reach is up North where they need work horses, if they can scale this up especially with the way it pulled it would be perfect for carrying 2,3 or even 4 trailers with logs tools etc
@@awsomegamer8277 it lacks weight for doing that. Disadvantage of pulling driver instead of carrying is quite big. Current showmobiles used for logging weights 300-400kg and they have more power. This one becomes very difficult to steer if the size is scaled up. These are simplier and cheaper machines with small engines. Can do small tasks but can’t see replacing current designs. These have been around for a long time and not done it yet.
Wow, what a nice vehicle. 😃. I'd be curious if the factory delivers it with wheels on the bucket for forest traveling. Snow is rare in large parts of Western Europe. Forest is plenty. 👏👏👏👏👏
snow is rare by you so you want to buy a snowmobile and have wheels on it?? An atv or sxs would be a MUCH better choice and the 4x4 ones go through snow pretty decently
Along the first snow vehicle designs in Canada many years ago that went through so many transformations. It will be interesting to see where this goes. Not sure why they lit it on fire though.
LOL, Put a built Predator motor with motor upgrades in it and some gear changes, and you'll have one fast machine! One that will even keep up with most snowmobiles!
My Can Am outlander is street legal...can plow snow, tow a trailer, haul firewood, hauls a passenger or my dog rides on the back. Let's see you ride one of them in and out of the back of a pickup truck!
ugh the autoplay function making it so hard to like this video luckily i was able to cancel the commercial hit the back button and rewatch that the long track was selling for 1600$ and the short track for 1400$ i gotta say long tracks got my money
Why no deep snow? I want to see it go in deep snow. I think you might get a big cloud of snow all around you and you're body weight would not be on the traction. You put the sled behind with all you weight on that. I don't know I would have to see it go in deep snow in that set up.

Literally nothing you said was true Go buy a used sled from the 90’s. Still better than this price of junk
Bolens made these in the early 70s here in the states.
@@dirkdiggler9379 plus he lives inn Minnesota. I'm sure there is no shortage of sleds. Especially since Cat and Polaris are built there.

How long do you think that plastic tub will last driving on gravel? Maybe a day.
I'd definitely put some of that truck bed liner on both inside and outside
Very cool, would be nice to see these here in the USA! It would make a great ice fishing rig!
You can import anything you want.

thats awesome. way to go. nice idea. the perfect machine for getting firewood in the winter.
Hate the footpegs being outboard of the frame. A broken ankle just waiting to happen....not to mention having frozen toes all day!
This is the funniest product review ever!!
it goes in a straight line very good looks like they are fighting it to turn
That's what I was thinking, they are just driving them in a straight line.
Said the same thing.

So this is a new Diablo Rouge?
No Way Bud ; That ain't no Diablo Rouge .
Very impressive. Are they available in Canada?
You can get them in Toronto for $3850
Thanks Lindy but it would probably cost more than that to ship one across this country to northern BC.

When will they be available in Canada . We have the winters for these units

These have been around for years.

This thing is absolutely genius, love it

We had one in 1967 in Canada, made by Bolen's. Was very versatile and maneuverable in the bush.
Yes when enough generations pass everything old becomes new again 😔
I had one 45 years ago called a Bolens Huski. It was old when I had it.

When they drove it off the cliff that was the selling point for me. Just awesome lol.
Back in the 60's there was a similar sled called a Diablo Rouge (Red Devil) made by Bolens, there are UA-cam Videos on it
I would like to see more testing in deeper snow. Do they make more aggressive track with larger lugs for deep powder
nice peaces of engineering work!

Can they be used to groom for a fatbike?

There used to be a very similar unit here in Canada back in the 60s. Can't recall the make though. Very versatile.
