Most developers at a corporation are, yes, however there is a huge difference between the attitudes of corporate and indie devs. Corporate developers make things that already proved to work, while the selling point of indie games is to do it different, experiment with new things etc. AAA games are handled as products, designed with "how will we sell this?" in mind, while indies usually don't focus on that aspect as much. Lots of very successful indie games started out as side projects devs were working on while having a day job for years, putting their everything into it, focusing on making it a worthwhile experience, less focusing on the "will it sell" aspect.
True! Still the Grey Mourner is a superbly designed character and the mask she gives you will probably get you the last health point, which is really handy.

Elderbug seems satisfied with his current life, and should be safe for awhile. It's interesting that his cowardly and reclusive nature is what saved him from the plague.

TheMichus actually in the ending where you kill the radiance, the Knight just breaks off into his true form (his void form) along with the Hollow Knight and either becomes one with the void or just joins the siblings. I don’t know 100% if he’s alive but he might have a chance of making a comeback
