a7siii does everything I need and its still an amazing buy. I bought this camera knowing I wouldn't need to upgrade for like 5 years, and 3 years later......might even get more life than that out of it! its a joy to shoot with and for sure a low light beast! Great video!
I also us e only my A7S III for photos. Sure more pixels would be nice, but clients have never complained that my images are not high enough quality. It is so easy to use this camera because of the amazing Auto-Focus for stills too. Before I got mine, I used a GH5 for photos and videos, but I don't wanna go back to manual focus, especially for photos, it is so nice to have good auto-focus :-)
yes it was a lot harder. Would never go back to it. I hear rumors that Sony will not make a A7S IV? That they are moving on fro mthe series and that the FX-series is replacing it. I hope that is not hte case. THe view-finder is so nice to have too@@TeppoHaapoja
And for Stills, it is not as bad as you say. It is easier to focus one frame. But it is useless in video. I have heard it is gotten better and wiht native glass, it is better, but still not as good as Sony imo@@andersistbesser
It's especially worth buying now that we are going to be getting DCI 4k and focus breathing comp!!! If you need a low light beast that has barely any rolling shutter and an amazing quality camera then yes you need to buy an a7SIII!!!!
Amazing review, I just got my camera . And I’m still figuring it out. Video settings from your channel helped a lot. Can you please share the setting for the photo???? . I’m a beginner and mostly want to use this camera for makeup tutorials and makeup photos .
Great video Teppo! :) It's funny - basically all point you made for the A7SIII you can also say for every other fullframe camera Sony released after the A7SIII. Only the high ISO performance is exclusive on A7SIII/ZVE1, but then you get more MP for stills on the other models :) Are you not tempted to switch over the ZVE1 (cost aside)? Your friend Peter Lindgren made the switch mainly because of the size. Why would you stay with the A7SIII instead of the ZVE1?
I didnt like the ZV-E1 for a few reasons. I didnt like the lack of dials for shutter / aputure / ISO. Also I felt like it wasn’t comfortable in the hand.
Electronic ND, false color and better placement of the mic and headphone ports. Honestly, the tilt screen from A7rIII would suit me better (I don’t vlog) and wouldn’t get in the way of the mic/headphone jacks. Oh, and make it possible to unlock the mode dial like the exposure compensation dial. :)
Thanks for the update Video Teppo. I keep wanting to get another camera and I was thinking the FX3, but that has no EVF and I don’t know how that would be for photography or exposure to sunlight on the LCD? Have you used the FX3 without a viewfinder and how has your experience been!?!?! I’m so nervous about spending the money to invest, if I hate that there’s no EVF. Should I just wait for the Sony A7Siv? 😮
I dont believe Sony is releasing a new A7S-IV just yet, unless they want to go up to 6k or 8k. The reason I say that is, The A7S-III is getting a massive firmware update in March in less 30-45 days time, as of me writing this comment (2-5-24). My Thoughts Below…. …..The A7S-III is actually a vlogger’s perfect camera, (with the option to shoot some decent stills). Just not for printing super large pictures, but other then that it’s a great choice. The large pixel size (individually) allows you to shoot in very low light with virtually no grain. The video options are great for almost any situation and it has the same sensor as the Sony Pro FX3, and the FX6. I know the FX3 and FX6 has more “internal” on board features, but the sensors are exactly the same. I have the A7-III for stills, and the A7S-III for pro cine videos. (It’s not appropriate here, for me to say what kind of videos I shoot. 😜 ) Great Content, Keep it up.😊
Hi Teppo! I bought the Sony @7iv a year ago, and I think it's a great alternative to the @7sIII at a cheaper price. The only thing I miss is the 120 fps at 4K... But I can deal with that, considering that's almost the only inconvenience compared to the 7sIII. Now I would love to get your opinion on a lens I'm highly likely to buy. As a content creator too, versatility is my main concern. I need a zoom lens with a wide angle for vlogging. I bought the Sony 16-35 G series. It's super wide, but I feel it isn't long enough. I'm thinking about buying the 20-70mm one. The only downside is the aperture, which is stuck at F4... I've always wanted to buy lenses under 2.8, but as you said, the low-light capacity of the @7iv and @7sIIII are so good that I think it might not be too much of a problem. Then, there is the issue of depth of field. We all love it! But then, if you can get 20 to 70 mm in one lens, maybe losing some bokeh isn't a big deal after all. Maybe that could be a topic you could address in one of your next videos! Take care!
this was a fun video to watch, I still use the Sony A9, just a thought change the title to "why Im still using the Sony A7sii" you might get more searches and more view
Thanks for the informative video Teppo! Is this cam still worth buying in the summer of 2024? Please, any A7siii owners jump in here...I'm aware of the 2 new firmware updates currently available for this camera. Once again, great video, Teppo!
Im still using it, I think its a solid camera but if a new version comes out then it could be worth waiting and buying the a7siii cheaper. Not sure 🤷🏼♂️
It’s not worth jumping from camera to camera just because something new and shiny comes out or because something gets hyped up. But what you need and can afford and stick with it. Get the most out of it that you can. Buying a new flash car doesn’t make you a better driver
Always exciting to see new products! Global shutter is interesting for sure. Im not much of a action photographer so the crazy fps aint necessary for me
@@TeppoHaapoja WOW!! Sony just announce the new firmware for A1, A7S3!! and they will finally put the breathing compensation, and DCI 4K!! What a day!!!!
No, you are not. And I think, there is no reason to sell or switch, just because the camera is old. It's not. This camera will still be a very good pick even after 3 years more.
Agreed too! One of the best video camera (the best for me considering the non-crop, the 4k 120, 10 bits, NO overheating, flip screen, no limit record, amazing slog3, & an amazing image quality overall). At the price of 2699€ today on the net. Unbeatable for my use

Coming back to this a few months later, the A7S III is absolutely still worth it even in 2024, absolutely a beast of a camera

Nice man!!! Norway is epic.
Great video Teppo, as usual ! Thumbs up again ✌

and best video performance over canon and nikon
Ive never had any troubles with the 12MP but that could be because I don't print massive photos or do wildlife photography where I'd need to crop
