Mam nice hairstyle 🙂.
Kevin is totally right. 'ful' is only pronounced when the syllable right before it is stressed. "masterfully" should be pronounced with the silent "u".
Very informative video, I surprised even native speakers made mistakes. Thanks for providing us authentic grammar lesson. ❤❤
Thank you Mr. Kevin.
A video I'll have to watch many times 👍
Thanks a lot .❤
Thank you, Liza! By the way, your new hairstyle is just for you.
We missed u long time to see u
Thank u for ur amazing lessons
Thank you for teaching this kind of words as a non-native english speaker it can be difficult to me😀🖒
This is the only grammar and pronunciation channel i’ve subscribed to. I’ve been in the US for 19 years, but I’ve learned a lot about pronunciation and grammar only these past few months! Thank you, Kevin!
My main and favorite channel to learn English 🙏
I am an English teacher in China. Your channel is like a serendipity to me. I find this episode especially instructive since I never noticed the slight difference of "-fully" pronunciation.😢 Thank you so much!
Wow, I love Lisa's new hair style!
Thank you so much for discovering these manipulators on the internet.
Love your new hairstyle, Lisa 👍
Nice hairstyle Liza, the hairdresser did it masterfully!
You look pretty liza. Greetings
Awesome ❤
Nice job ❤❤❤❤❤
The war started by Liza and Kevin against Marina is spreading further🤦♀. Good for learners as they learn a lot from their videos, bad for these teachers themselves. In this war they all look awful. I wonder if they correct their students' mistakes this way? if yes I'd rather didn't have them ALL as teachers. However, the information they share is REALLY useful. God bless them all
I think a non native english speaker will ever commits some mistakes. Actually, even native english speaker commits a lot of mistakes. I saw a video from an australian guy that give english tips for portuguese spakers and on the video that I'm talkning about, he shows a lot of mistakes that australians commits in terms of grammar that brazilian english speakers usually doesn't commits. I think fluency for non native speakers is not about the perfect pronunciation or perfect grammar. This is quite impossible for a non native speaker and as I said, even native speakers commits a lot of grammary mistakes. I think that fluency is about be capable of understand the others and be understood.
Thank you
How is it going but he's an American teacher i guess how could he be not right
😊 our lovely teacher 👩🏫 tou look stunning …. Thank you 🙏 for all your lessons and mr.KEIVEN too

Waoooo Liza nice hair style you are looking stunning
Good video!
Hey Liza!
This bangs really suits you. 😊
THESE bangS.
@@fredylopez2477 All right. Thanks.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
ASTERISC pronounced ASterix is incorrect, but MASTERFULLY pronounced with four syllables is not common but not incorrect.
Well, according to the rule, it's incorrect, it's got four syllables but when it comes to speaking or talking to someone in a conversation it has three syllables NOT four and you've seen and listened to the videos where they pronounce it as it it had three syllables.
Where's the rule written?
Your work is great, wonderful!!!
Masterfully pronouncing the "U" as a shua is correct according to Cambridge and Ponds dictionaries.
NO NEED TO CORRECT AMERICANS,THEY KNOW ENGLISH. ITS LITERALLY THIER 1 LANGUAGE. THEY PRONOUNCE WORDS A BIT DIFFERENT BECAUSE THEY LIVE IN DIFFERENT STATES.
Americans mispronounce words too.
No, you are wrong. You have to correct them. Language and pronunciation in the US is quite the same. People move out constantly here. They don't stay in one place forever.
@@frederickwalzer5555 nope, 🤣 I can understand everything when Americans say it. I don't mind a little accent. I can't imagine someone teaching me how to speak in my own mother language, that is ridiculous. I understand learning about fake English teachers like marina, but using Americans for video is too much in my opinion.
Agreed with the original OP. Kevin actually says "real life" a bit different from most Americans I hear. In general the r will be more pronounced. And I looked up in multiple dictionaries. Some examples sound like 3 syllables while others sound more like 4. It depends on the jaws and lips of each speaker I think. Dave's lips are more like Trump's when speaking while Kevin's lips aren't as open when he speaks.
I think you're wrong my friend because English is English no matter the state or city they live in.
The only thing that changes is the "accent"
According to Oxford dictionaries we DO pronounce masterFULLY. If it is there, it is standard/accepted.
The U is not always silent, it varies. Sometimes is just reduced to a schwa sound
Any classes ? Available for new learner?
I love your channel . I always learn something new. Thanks a lot
Kudos
I improved my English pronunciation with this video wonderfully :)
Axe me anything but don't always eskpect the right answer.
👍👍
Yeiiiiii I've been looking at this video in your video list for days😅 thank you thank you you🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I've been looking FOR this video for days.
@fredylopez2477 after" looking" the following preposition must be AT...I know I made a mistake so did you.....let's hope Kevin can clarify this issue..(.reply is not needed)
Please, Professor, teach us in the next video how to pronounce this sentence: I can see it in your smile
...How to pronounce it quickly?
How about if you try to pronounce or say this:
"Icanseeitinyoursmile".
How about if you try to say or pronounce this as one word:
"Icanseeitinyoursmile".
С длинными волосами выглядите красивее и моложе).
How about CAREFULLY?
'ful' is only pronounced when the syllable right before it is stressed. "masterfully" should be pronounced with the silent "u".
In "carefully" you pronounce the U.
@@dannyjorde2677 Yeah, the "u" is pronounced because the stress is in the first syllable, (CARE) and that first syllable is the only one before "fully" but if you wanna speak fast, you pronounce the "u" like a schwa, / 'kerf(ə)lē /.
But, according to what Kevin said and the rule, it must be pronounced.
The same thing happens with "fearfully".
❤❤❤
this is really cool video way to go
Hi Kevin, just one question ;
- Do they follow those rules in The United Kingdom ?.
Or only in The United States ?.
Thanks in advance for the answer.
Asterix is a gaulish guy wearing a winged hat😂
I have a question regarding "fully" pronunciation.
When you write the word in Google Translate, it pronounces the word with 4 syllables, but it also writes the IPA and the schwa is written between parenthesis, so it might be discarded. So is Google translate wrong?
Is this special to American English ? Is it the same in British English?
British and American English have some differences in pronunciation but that doesn't matter 'cause british and american natives can understand each other.
They have some differences in words too, like;
- americans say "elevator".
- british say "lift".
But both words mean the same.
Bonjour, je ne comprends pas que vous dites que le mot masterfully a trois syllables puisque le dictionnaire et un site sur le nombre de syllabes en indique 4 syllabes???????
One thing I didn't understand: I can't figure out if the "t" in "respectfully" is silent or not. The dictionary says it isn't silent but my ears tell me otherwise.
Edit: maybe what I'm missing is that the "t" in this word represents just a very light stop of the tongue without a hard "t" sound/"tap"/click.
he is a native speaker🤦♀️🤦♀️
Yeah, that's right, if you're talking about Kevin, he's a native speaker, he might make mistakes because he's not perfect and is a human being BUT he'll never make the kind of mistakes Marina, Ariana, POC etc... make.
I'm sure his mistakes are more complex and profound.
👍
🎉❤
👍❤️
Omg, the controversies surrounding all these teachers on you tube channel is stunning, but u know, i favour Kevin and Liza ..., trust them .
You know what the worst part of all this is that the youtubers shown on the video got mad even when kevin is helping them to speak better 😒
😅😅😅
Is not it a matter of accent ?
no, it is not. Asterisk is pronounced the same in BE and AE. Asterisk (this little star symbo) is NOT Asterix. Asterix is a name. And the accent doesn't change that pronunciation.
