A lot of creators talk about the earn but they never talk about how to burn which is honestly the worst part of this habit. Great video! Much appreciated
Been waiting on this one, a lot of work Mark! This usecase is where MR points are peerless... international 1st & Bus class. It requires some work and flexibility, and some parts of the process are not intuitive - well done👋🏾
One of the best videos I’ve ever watched for Amex transfer partners and it’s definitely gonna motivate everyone to get those points and use them the right way ! Thanks mark
I just had two months of bonus transfer rates to Flying Blue, first with Capital One miles and the next month with AMEX M.R. points. 1000 = 1200 Now, there's more than enough for a lying flat front of the plane RT long haul & I'm not with Chase or Citi... yet. It's nice that many of these same international airliners are in both reward programs. Eventually, one of them turns up in the bonus list from your CC rewards program.
What a fantastic and easy-to-follow tutorial on this otherwise complex topic! Such a great video!! I've been saving for a redemption #2 type of strategy and so that one in particular was so helpful for me! Thanks for the value Mark! You rock as always!! 👑
I feel your cpp for flights are inflated because you consider the one way cash price for these flights. Most people would want to book round trip tickets, which cost only a little more than one way tickets for international flights. So taking half the cash price of a round trip ticket might have been more accurate.
I have a quick question. Amex offers cards like Delta Skymiles cards and some of those cards offer benefits like priority boarding and free first check bag. If you were to transfer points to one of Delta's alliance partners but still fly on a delta flight, can you still get the benefits offered by the card (free checked bag and priority boarding)? Is this just a case of you are SOL because you didn't go direct through Delta?
Hi Emanuel - Per the terms for Delta's free checked bag benefit, "The first checked bag fee waiver will only be applied on flight segments which originate on a Delta or Delta Connection carrier when you check-in with Delta for both a Delta marketed and Delta operated flight. Codeshare flights are not eligible."
What do you do with left over MR points? It is hard to exactly use all points even with Schwab Platinum card. With all cash back cards, it is simple and you can easily utilize all the points for cash back rewards. With redemption for travel, there is leftover points that can’t be utilized.
Really good video. I love using my points for SQ and LH first class because it's the only way I'm getting into one of those seats. I'd never pay the cash price. Would have been super helpful to mention that not all SQ and LH departures from the US have a first class cabin. What's the best way to find the ones that do?
Amazing research and presentation. Video we have all been waiting for. An interesting video series Mark could be example of transfer redemptions to get to X country. For example want to go Thailand? Example of transfer partners and reward redemptions on Amex, Chase, etc….Could really stretch this out into a lot of content! Thanks for the video!

Thank you for your informative videos! Question: I have the Bonvoy Brilliant card. But I was thinking of getting the Amex Platinum and cancelling the Brilliant card. It seems I can almost the same benefits as far as Marriott Gold status with the Amex Platinum card plus additional platinum membership benefits. With point transfers, I can still redeem points for hotel stays. I guess my question is, why would I keep the Marriott Brilliant card if I have the Amex Platinum?
The Bonvoy Brilliant offers a lot of Marriott-specific benefits that the Amex Platinum Card does not. Examples: - $25/mo. dining credit (Starting 9.22.2022) - Annual Free Night Award (worth up to 50K pts) - $100 Marriott Property Credit - 15 Elite Night Credits every year - 6X Points @ Marriott properties There are also rumors of additional changes coming to the card.

Hi Mark, I have a quick question. I am trying to redeem from Amex to United airlines and I think the play here is to transfer to star alliance. I am thinking of transferring to aeroplan air Canada. If I do this will I be able to transfer my pts from aeroplan to United airlines? Thanks. I was planning a trip From LAX to HNL and I’m just worried my pts will get stuck with aeroplan air Canada if I make a mistake.
You do not transfer Aeroplan points into United Miles. Once you transfer, they will remain Aeroplan points. To redeem Aeroplan points with other Star Alliance airlines, you then search for award availability on those other carriers and do a partner booking (not a transfer). There's a lot that goes into it, so I recommend doing web searches to learn about redemption options. Aeroplan may / may not be the best option.
