Pet Shop Boys' tribute to the disco era. The video included a recreation of the famous Studio 54 nightclub.
This track is included in SMASH - The Singles 1985 - 2020. The complete collection of Pet Shop Boys singles in chronological order. “SMASH" will be released on Parlophone on June 16th in a variety of formats including 3CD box set, 6LP vinyl box set and digitally, as well as two special limited edition formats available exclusively via the Pet Shop Boys store - 6LP white vinyl box set and 3-cassette box set. A 3CD/2Blu-ray edition will also be released which includes the complete video collection of the singles plus extras.

Wow, aún me emociono al escuchar este rolonon. Era el año 2000, yo vivía en Ciudad de México, tenia 16 años y me cole en un antro. Al subir al área donde estaba la pista empezó a sonar esta canción y en las pantallas se veía el video y fue la primer rola que baile en un antro y además me identifiqué muchísimo con ella, empecé una nueva etapa en mi vida así. Ahora, cada vez que voy a empezar algún proyecto la escucho, es como "el tema de la transición" para mi.

...sshhhhhh, on the MacAthur Park 'sample' ....Neil did an Interview in a Gay rag that Year (1999), and the Interviewer mentioned the sample, and Neil was like, "....I don't know what you're talking about..." (CONT.)
...So the interviewer reiterated it again, and Neil was like, "...I DON'T know what you're talking ABOUT..." ...methinks the sample wasn't cleared, at that point....

Speaking as a prototypical 'NYC boy', what I wouldn't give to have that 1999 version of New York City back again. I feel fortunate to have lived through it and with PSB as my soundtrack since the day I moved here. Got to see them at Hammerstein in 1999 and even scored access to the afterparty at Studio 54 of course, where I met the dancer and backup singer Keith Truitt. What memories. Thanks for all the great music Neil and Chris-- looking forward to your next US tour!
...ha-HAAA!! ...My 'memories', were a bit different...I went to that Show (Hammerstein) with 2 (separate) Gay Couples who I was supposed to meet there....ONE Couple got into a fight and didn't show up, the Other was 45 minutes late to the Show....because, THEY got into fight! (cont.)

Espectacular temazo q para mi es uno de los mejores sino el mejor tema de los inmortales Pet Shop Boys, mítico grupo británico que vinieron varias veces a Buenos Aires con enorme repercusión en Argentina.
Excelente tema, incluso introduce elementos propios de la época disco y sobre todo hace una representación del emblemático Studio 54 y con todo los eventos extravagantes que lo identificaron como tal, como por ejemplo la fiesta de cumpleaños de Bianca Jagger, quien llegó montada en un caballo blanco.
