This is SO 1953.....an overly earnest American trying to get a point across to people who don't know what she's saying. It's a good show and has aged better than the source material
Visto ora a Rai 5, trascinante allegria che solo la musica può dare, addirittura ballano i compassati professori dei Berliner filarmoniker.....uno spettacolo strabiliante anche grazie alla meravigliosa musica di Gershwin.....
@mxmietlicki -your observation is noted, however the notepad is a valid prop (the only one used in this concert performance). Character Ruth Sherwood, being a journalist trying to get an interview, actually carried notepad thruout this number. It actually added to the hilarity of her efforts in the original production.
All kidding aside, as enjoyable as this was, the 'encore' version, also here on youtube is far better with an audio feed that is truly superb! plated thru a wideband 2.1 or greater system and it is RAPTUOUS!
My Mom's ( sharp to the end , 90, this Fall) and Dad's favorite show. I think they saw it w/ Roz Russell and George Gaynes , OC , on their wedding trip and we still have the original 45s boxed set on DECCA. Anyhow this girl comes close but seriously the whole OCR is in UA-cam audio AND video, complete ! I won't try to say anything mean but you gotta see and hear the real thing. Roz was sui generis and the Leonard Bernstein score and Comden-Green book combo are the closest thing to genius in pop entertainment like Broadway ( which actually then was still not too far timewise from the old 14 th Street. Herbert-Hammerstein-Kern-Luchow's tradition, none of the vapid Mishkind music set to whatever throwaway lyrics in Disney's fey, genderbending, race reversing political agenda junk of today ) . I say it all the time and mean it, Leonard Bernstein was America's Best Composer . ( tho better known as a conductor; same thing with Mengelberg and if you like Mahler, same deal). Lehman Engel is a other hero of this fabulous show. Superb arranger/ pit conductor, etc.
I enjoyed this BUT I am an elderly smartass who thinks he´s right about everything SO I was enraged that the allegedly-French subtitler misheard what was OBVIOUSLY ¨Charles de Gaulle¨. Then I googled ¨Charles G. Dawes¨. I am SO sorry for the hateful, pompous comment I *almost* posted. Then I was going to nitpick about the subtitler not using punctuation or capitalization to somehow acknowledge that the ¨Good Neighbor Policy¨ was a thing, not just random lyrics, but my ¨Charles G. Dawes¨ snafu took the wind out of my sails, so NEVER MIND! Nap time!
+Hiram Fibonik I've played the show (in the orchestra pit) and always thought it was 'De Gaulle' until just now. (At 0:46 on this video.) Makes sense -- the show is set in 1935, when De Gaulle was an Army lieutenant colonel and Dawes was recent ex-Vice-President of the U.S.A.
Preposterous that you fail to understand she is a journalist/reporter trying to ask questions (using her reporter's notebook) to a group of people who are just interested in one thing - CONGA!
Everyone looks like they're having so much fun! It's infectious.
I love Kim. Is so beautiful and talent!
wonderful performance , infectious, upligting and leaves you with a massive smile on your face

Nice performance. Love that perfectly timed ending scream.

After our prom in high school, we all enjoyed a conga line. It was great fun!
A esto le llamo un verdadero concierto didáctico... genial!
What a funny, beautiful, sympathical woman!! And a excellent singer she is!!
yesterday, I went a field trip to see a concert in Los Angeles. This is one of my favorite part of the musical. I wish this was on Broadway in one day
Tonight I saw the musical played by Orchestra of Lyric Theatre of Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy). The joy of playing music... Wonderful :-))
I love seeing Leonard Bernstein do silly.
She's absolutely on point with her portrayal of Sherwood (reporter). I wish job interviews were like this. rofl!!!
Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Simon Rattle available on DVD
Sylvester 2007 Berliner Philharmonie ... I was there...
Visto ora a Rai 5, trascinante allegria che solo la musica può dare, addirittura ballano i compassati professori dei Berliner filarmoniker.....uno spettacolo strabiliante anche grazie alla meravigliosa musica di Gershwin.....

i want swing of this concert
I love the way they involved the audience. Name of performer? Orchestra? Venue?
A little late, but it looks like Berlin Philharmonic in the Berlin Philharmonie. Simon Rattle (very young) conducting.
Kim Criswell

Not only that, but Dawes had written the popular ballad "It's All in the Game."

Not close to Roselind Russell's performance.
abortion is not a suitable topic for a musical
Preposterously unprofessional to do this number looking at a book.
Preposterous that you fail to understand she is a journalist/reporter trying to ask questions (using her reporter's notebook) to a group of people who are just interested in one thing - CONGA!
What a perverse interpretation. She is relying on the script for all the lines in it. @@robintyson591
yes it's Audra
