This is truly astonishing! You guys have and make the best looking police cars in the whole world. And I think everyone should follow your steps. I love it, thanks!
The Charger was put together by Whelen Engineering at the main factory. We really love the graphics they used on it. Carbon fiber and retro-reflective black look amazing with gunmetal grey.
Through Core you can set different levels of intensity, as well as the new DVI mode (dynamic variable intensity) where the light gradually increases and decreases in brightness while never fully turning off. Take-down and scene lights can be used at full power or dimmed depending on the scene and time of day.
@SIRENNET that I understand. My question is if you're using a non-whelen light, and in order to do so, you would need to set that light to steady burn first. But Usually the steady burn is not a max brightness, so will the core flash that light at full brightness or only the intensity of the original steady burn of the light.
Question: With the Carbide system, I know there’s features where if you press the brakes, it can activate modules on the light bar to indicate the vehicle is braking. Is there a way to program the feature to disable the brake light when you’re braking for a stealth mode so to speak?
KingstonTransit I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that. I was stunned the first time I saw those. Figured there must have been some kind of mistake. Nope. Not sure what the designers were thinking. Ruins an otherwise sharp car.
That practice has pretty much gone away due to hearing damage over years of use. It is a lot safer for the occupants of the vehicle when the siren is mounted up front.
That is actually pretty common in German and other European Lightbars. They usually come as a complete all-in-one package with lights, speakers and amps built into the bar. Disadvantage, of course, is that there is less room for LED lights. Take a look at the Hella RTK 7, Pintsch Bamag Zirkon, or Hänsch DBS4000.
Wow, that's amazing! Wish I were an OBD programmer! Questions: 1. How did he make the siren so quiet, is that a CenCom function or otherwise? 2. Would like to see what the programming UI looks like for all that functionality.
I saw in an older video somewhere you guys replaced the trunk release button with a silver button that would turn on steady white lights on the rear deck to be able to use the trunk lid as a work surface. That was a very cool feature, what parts were used for that ?
Soundoff Nforce tri-color Dash lights with pigtail harnesses verse the 12volt plug-ins were used. The trigger wire for the white over-ride was wired to a push-button provided by Star Cars, LLC. They wired in a relay for the trunk button to be switch back from white to warning when the Cencom control-head is changed via the slide-switch or when the car is shifted back to drive.
The Whelen Carbide OBD2 function works with the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Grand Sport Coupe?? And the Whelen CenCom Carbide can control the Federal Signal Valor 44-inch lightbar??
We're not aware of any testing that's been done with a Carbide CANport OBD II in that vehicle. "If" the electrical system shares similarities to a Tahoe or Silverado, you may find that it partially works... but could be iffy. Yes, a Cencom Carbide can control a Valor bar, but it won't allow for any software programming of the bar. That will need to be specifically done using the Federal Signal Serial Interface Module.
so can it still operate the lights for wat u need? example: white up front for scene illumination and color still in the rear. or everything off up front and only have rears on?
Is this the only light controller that works with modern cars' canbus that's becoming so commonly-used? I would imagine this would save so much trouble of unnecessarily wiring certain things.
It'll work with other manufacturers 12volt lighting and accessories. The WeCan input is going to be specific to only Whelen's corresponding WC items for easy plug and program.
How is that vehicle even allowed to be transported? It doesn't have any emergency vehicle markings on it and doesn't it have to be an emergency vehicle to have police lights on it?
With the Charger being a manufacturers demonstration vehicle, its equipped with full cut-offs so that the electronics are switched completely off when traveling. It's used professionally & for purposes of providing Law Enforcement clients and vendors like ourselves the ability to have a first hand look at a platform they may take advantage of.
Feniex lighting can be used along with the Cencom Carbide to an extent. With the design of the system and communicating with the various inside / outside lights, it'd really be best to use Whelen products so the programming and functions are flawless.
That system is just IMPRESSIVE!!
dam and I remember when the whelen edge 9000 strobe bar was cutting edge tech … wow fast forward 18 yrs and presto !!! LED for life !!!
I love this entire set up !!!

I think you guys are great but Chris looks like he got his finger stuck in the carbides high voltage socket. or just shows his excitement of whelen
Both :)
SIRENNET hi.does whelen cencom gold amp have a flasher function to sync with lightbar
Nice system! Wonder how long until blue print uses the obd port. Talk about simple!!
The future is here. But the Whelen guy had the car in park when he wanted to show the steady white light with the air horn.
Whelen=Best in the business.
dope!
I just realized, that's a Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD, which means that demonstration vehicle has the 5.7L HEMI V8.
Isn't the steady burn usually on a lower brightness? Well the core make it brighter even it flashes?
Through Core you can set different levels of intensity, as well as the new DVI mode (dynamic variable intensity) where the light gradually increases and decreases in brightness while never fully turning off. Good question... No, disabling the brake lights or setting a "blackout" mode is not possible to do through a CarBide or Core controller.
those hub caps are uggggggly. the dog dish steelies with the Centre caps look much better
KingstonTransit yeah... who uses Vic rims on a Charger?
KingstonTransit I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that. I was stunned the first time I saw those. Figured there must have been some kind of mistake. Nope. Not sure what the designers were thinking. Ruins an otherwise sharp car.
Factory Dodge police hubcaps
id like to see them develop a light bar with a siren built into it for extra noise
That would be an interesting bar to see. :) Folks use to add the SA40 to the Liberty and Freedom bars for an over head 100 watt speaker.
Check out the new Ceridian bar they just released

Best to have the siren(s) mounted as far forward as possible due to decible concerns.
Wow, that's amazing! Wish I were an OBD programmer!
Questions:
1. How did he make the siren so quiet, is that a CenCom function or otherwise?
2. Would like to see what the programming UI looks like for all that functionality.
Inline resistors are being used so that the siren tones are quieted down for demonstration. It's not a feature that Carbide has built in.
The OBD2 vehicle specific? If so, will it be available for the F150 and RAM PPV's?
It is Vehicle specific. It is available for the 2016 and 2017 Ford F-150 currently. The Ram 1500 PPV isn't offered at this time.
Here in California we use steady burn at traffic stops can we program the cencom unit to do steady burn when we go into park
Most definitely.
SIRENNET ok thanks guys at sirennet

@@SIRENNET Thank you guys so much.
@@RenanMXFNYTYou're very welcome :)
Awesome!
Great Demo Video
Thank you very much.
I have the Whelen Carbide also in my Demo Car with the external Amplifire and Howler. Its a very great Product from Whelen.
so can it still operate the lights for wat u need? example: white up front for scene illumination and color still in the rear. or everything off up front and only have rears on?
It can be set up to just about any preference for lighting control.
Is this the only light controller that works with modern cars' canbus that's becoming so commonly-used? I would imagine this would save so much trouble of unnecessarily wiring certain things.
Can you tell me the name of the flash pattern on the light bar at 10:56 please? I'am trying to change my light bar to that very pattern.
It's "Single Flash 60".
Can the Carbide system work on the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 C7??
Yes, but not with the CANport OBD II.
Does it work with other brand of strobes ? Like feniex, carson etc...
It can with other manufactures products to an extent.
Does the cencom carbide work with only whelen products
It'll work with other manufacturers 12volt lighting and accessories. The WeCan input is going to be specific to only Whelen's corresponding WC items for easy plug and program.

Mine is bad it only has 2 in the front and a wheel RST 8 piece in the back k

I need this upfit
so how much for the car!!!
You'll have to ask our friends at Whelen :)
What usb cord is to be used)
USB to Micro-B cable. Thanks for watching😀
