  • Join us as we recap what we did on our port days in Rome and Naples, Italy. We made the trip from Civitavecchia to the city of Rome to have lunch at a really good pasta restaurant, walked through several amazing landmarks, and eventually explored the Roman Forum. In Naples, see if our excursion to the Amalfi coast was a success and if we'd spend the money to do it again. Also see what we think is the best meal we had on this entire trip. There's so much to see and do on these Mediterranean cruises and we hope we can share some tips and tricks to make your planning a little bit easier!
We absolutely loved our time aboard Symphony of the Seas and this Mediterranean cruise was one of our most favorite vacations we’ve ever taken. Please check out our Symphony of the Seas play list and our other Royal Caribbean Cruise videos for ships like Odyssey of the Seas, Navigator of the Seas, and Wonder of the Seas.

Very informative. Thanks for the content. Rome is on my bucket list. Did you go to Tuscany/Florence?

Not this trip. Our friends went to Tuscany after our Greek isles cruise in June and they enjoyed it. At La Spezia, we decided to go to Cinque Terre instead of Florence and it was amazing. One of these days we’re going to get to Florence, Pisa, Tuscany, they’re on our list.

what time of year did you go? We are going in May, worried it might be too busy.

This particular trip was in the middle of October.
We were also in Rome and Naples during the first week of June and crowds were about the same. May is the beginning of the cruise season so crowds are normally lighter in May/early June, and then at the end of the season which is October.

If you’d like you can check out our videos from our cruise aboard Odyssey of the Seas from that early June trip to see the crowd levels for Rome and Naples. Obvious we didn’t go to Amalfi but that would be the only major change in regards to these two ports.
