Thanks you so much for posting. I watched this on Night Flight on USA network in the early 1980's. As a white boy born in Baltimore, MD, my love for reggae took me way beyond Bob Marley. My father worked for Delta Air Lines, so when I could fly to Jamaica, I jumped at the chance. It took a while to find a taxi to take me to Kingston, but I got to Mamie's record store, I believe it was on George street, maybe Orange or Christopher St. She was so sweet, let me listen to all the records before I bought them. My taste ran to Rock Steady, paragons were my favorite, and while I smoked my share of good weed in Jamaica, I only brought the records back through customs. The look on those guys faces was priceless when this long hair, white twenty year old was returning from an overnight trip to Jamaica with nothing but records....time and time again. A beautiful island, beautiful people, and a beautiful video. This brought back some great memories. Thanks so much.
We were fortunate enough to see these amazing musicians play with Big Youth at a small club called Scorgie's back in the early 80's. Mind totally blown!
aka The Revolutionaires, The Riddim Raiders, The Agrovators, The Upsetters, the All Stars etc etc etc, @ 38:50 Fully says "more than 95 per cent of the music that come out of Jamaica is the Syndicate ... if it not the group, it was Chinna (Smith), myself (Fully Fullwood), Tony (Chin) and Santa..."
Thanks for this beautiful high quality video. I recorded this from a TV program called "Night Flight" in 1979 or1980 and have never been able to find the film available anywhere else...Until now. My favorite reggae documentary of all time (so far)
You & me both. Back in the days of early cable & vcr's. I had the time frame as mid 80's, my college years. Searched far & wide for Jah Minstrels dub version of "Africa." Did find the Earl Zero 12" None shall escape the judgement day. Apparently, it might have been re-released as a film in the 2000's But to have recorded that documentary in the late 70's-early 80's was a very difficult time to have a camera, politically speaking. I loved watching Night Flight also brother
sounds quite different IMO.. non of the melodies are the same, I guess the basslines are similar? .. are you reffering to this track? ua-cam.com/video/YubMSEVyZFQ/v-deo.html

@@thierrycola Yes, the Soul Syndicate did rework the tune quite considerably, as they were not a keyboard-led band, and it's in a different key, but it's definitely "Hot Milk"
Worked with Earl Zero today! 70 yrs old and still going strong!
