My gramma used to tell me that when someone dies in a house, all the mirrors have to be covered so the spirit moves on, because if they see their reflection they might be stuck and unable to cross over.
Our family has had bad experiences with mirrors. Like if they aren’t new, or we have bought one in like a second hand store yeah we definitely have weird things happening in the house or in our lives. This one lady had thrown out a very pretty round mirror and my sister had gotten it and mom hanged it on the wall. Well, we’d find a small hand print on it like when the mirror fogs up in the bathroom but this was in the living room, and it was not down low where the little ones can reach it. Soooo yeah ! And plus odd things would happen ever since that mirror was picked up. We threw it away and then we didn’t see it 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ seams someone else had picked it up. It was a very beautiful mirror so yeah.

Covering mirrors could be an indication of guilt - he couldn't stand seeing himself after what he did. Or maybe it is a pre-funeral ritual. I am from Greece and when somebody dies, its typical to cover mirrors in their house with black or purple textile up until the funeral takes place. I think it's because of the belief that the soul of the dead is still around and could be mirrored in some way (Spooky, I know).
This was very common during funerals in this time period as well. They were scared their loved ones spirit would be caught in the mirror if not cover. It could be this or I wonder maybe if the suspect didn't want to look at himself because they felt guilty.
When you say “we need to look in to a more hydrating eye cream, cause we are getting old” Bailey... Bailey!.... I have never felt so attacked by you... 😭😭😭😭 🤣🤣
Those old houses from what I've seen are rather dense or well insulated. Which kinda sound proofs them to some degree. Then you factor in the distance between their houses. And those two things usually add up to next to no distinguishable noise, making it that far. So it may be very possible the neighbors hadn't heard anything, sadly
At that time, in many areas, having an indoor bathroom was still a novelty. So when a family put one in, it was just the one. My father grew up in the country in western Pennsylvania, and he put the bathroom in his parent’s house in the early 1960s! It’s kind of like when televisions started being sold. People only had one television. It wasn’t until later that they realized that you could have more than one.
Just want to take a moment to say thank you. It must be hard to gather all this information and to find a way of explaining it to all of us. Thank you for uploading!
@@gemarius1279 a bit of both depending on your region, in the south and especially Louisiana it is common knowledge that mirrors are windows to the spirit world, and it use to be a thing to cover the mirrors after someone died so that their souls would not get trapped and haunt the house. I was thinking this or it was also believed in the Victorian era that if you saw your own reflection in the mirror of a house where someone recently passed away, you may also die soon.

IT WAS THE SPARE KEY!!!! That’s how the mother effer was able to lock every door and leave and then they put it back when they left.
@@BaileySarian If they were staying with the family, they would of watched what they did or maybe they were even given the spare key so they could come and go as they please. I bet it was a person in the church or community. Why else randomly house a stranger...well....I hope they were a stranger.
SPOILERS!!!!
Did people typically lock their doors back then? I grew up in the 70’s and no one locked their front doors during that time. It was common to leave your keys in the car, too.
Don't they say that covering the victims bodies means they know the victim!? And can't bare looking at what they have done

Honestly if Bailey started a cult I’d join without hesitation
I know this is an older video, so I don’t know who’s gonna see this, but as far as covering the mirrors... in some religions and beliefs, people cover the mirrors after someone in the family dies so that the spirit can move on and not get trapped. I already knew this story but I love hearing Bailey tell stories and watching her so her makeup!!
“Ghosts if you are heeere... tell me who killed you”

Covering the mirrors and faces are both generally signs of remorse/guilt
We do this in Ireland following a funeral to allow the release of the soul.
Or to reduce the blood splatter
It’s because he carried a kerosene lamp around the house while he attacked and didn’t want anyone nearby to see a light moving about the house
Also a since you schizophrenia cuz they can see the person in their head. It was Lynn Kelly
jewish people used to cover up mirrors after death becuase of the belief that souls get trapped in the reflective surfaces
I feel think nobody ever talks about how great she explains the stories and describes what had happen. I love you Bailey and your doing great :) I'm excited for the extra video this week!!

I enjoy your narration style. You don’t read the story but rather talk to your audience like we are sitting across from you at the kitchen table. An interesting story. Thank you
The fact that you literally re-record your intro . You can literally prerecord your intro and use the same one and you don’t . You’re so dope and dedicated i love you
which youtubers pre-recording their intros?
@@AlexisTwoLastNames and a lot of them do and some have the animated intros which r always the same already made just readded in editing
@@tykishagraham1980 i guess i don’t see how that’s less dedicated than recording one each time, but rather a preference. to each their own!
@@AlexisTwoLastNames OP didn't say anyone who does that is less dedicated, just pointing out there's an easier way and that Bailey took a little extra effort. It has nothing to do with dedication
@@AlexisTwoLastNames its more work record and say the same thing every intro and sing her own theme song. She’s dope period. You don’t have to agree & you could of kept your opinion to yourself .
Οντως? Πρωτη φορα το ακουω αυτο.
This was very common during funerals in this time period as well. They were scared their loved ones spirit would be caught in the mirror if not cover. It could be this or I wonder maybe if the suspect didn't want to look at himself because they felt guilty.
In the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, they covered all the mirrors with cloth when Ruth dies.
@@terrigaines1812 one of my go to chick flicks

How did the neighbors not hear anything though? I feel like there could’ve been more to this that we’ll never know about
Those old houses from what I've seen are rather dense or well insulated. Which kinda sound proofs them to some degree. Then you factor in the distance between their houses. And those two things usually add up to next to no distinguishable noise, making it that far. So it may be very possible the neighbors hadn't heard anything, sadly
Bailey describing the home "why do all of the older homes only have one bathroom?"
Cries in every generation of poor one bathroom families 🤣
Bro i felt this in my soul...
Right 😭 I was an only child, thankfully, but shared a bathroom with my parents until I was 16 lol. Having my own bathroom now is a luxury tbh.
I have one bathroom 😥😥😥😥 lol
We’ve only got one bathroom. They’re a luxury and I assume pretty expensive to have everything installed, especially ‘back then’
Bailey doesn’t expect a lot from the ghosts. Just a few daily chores.
that whole skit had me ROLLING xDDDD
Hahahaha that was hilarious XD

Just want to take a moment to say thank you. It must be hard to gather all this information and to find a way of explaining it to all of us. Thank you for uploading!
I am always so impressed by people who can talk and do their make up at the same time. She is the queen of multitasking!
They covered the mirrors so the souls wouldn't get stuck inside of them.
That’s creepy because the first suspect mentioned “eight souls”
I thought if there is spirits in a mirror, you cover the mirror so that you don't look in the mirror & the spirit traps you in their evil trap.
Yup, Armenians cover the mirrors of the house when someone dies for at least 7 days
@@gemarius1279 a bit of both depending on your region, in the south and especially Louisiana it is common knowledge that mirrors are windows to the spirit world, and it use to be a thing to cover the mirrors after someone died so that their souls would not get trapped and haunt the house. I am unsure if it is as common a legend in other states but it something I've known living in Alabama so maybe?

The thing that made the Blair Witch movie so scary for me, is that people mysteriously vanish in the woods/state park all the time. Theres a phenomenon called missing 411😱😰
You have so much talent it’s unreal. To find a case, research it to the extent you do and then sit and recite it back to your audience is hard enough I imagine. But then to do a perfect face of makeup too?! And apply eyelashes?! And be FUNNY. I dunno man. I’ve never seen somebody multitask so well. for the covering the mirror thing, in Ireland when we have wakes(when someone dies, their bodys placed in a coffin in their house for family and friends to pay respect to the dead person)(im not sure if this happens in other cultures so i thought i should explain)all mirrors/reflective screens eg tvs are covered so that the dead persons spirit doesnt get trapped in there.
