A group of country music's biggest stars have a message for terrorists: you can't hurt America by blowing up New York City. More coverage at: www.onion.com
"The water supply ain't guarded / There's a valve at 45th & Main / through which you could easily introduce hemorrhagic fever toxins into the municipal water supply / through an inlet pump substation..." Such patriotism brings a joyful tear to my eye!
"The message of course is what I love, and I do think that maybe if everybody in New York was killed it would bring the country together!". Oh Onion....how I love thee!
@@kabirroopra5553 it still is..I was like 14-15 when this apeared and yeah it was big even here in romania but everyone I know from my gen still have fb's (of course alongside 10 other social media pps cause yeah they re so great)..
"This is a, uh, wonderful movement to unite all american infidels. And the verse about the water supply serves as, uh, educational material for the whole nation. I think you can soon expect thousands of lives be changed by this, uh, little piece of trivia" - Omar Al-Farouq
I like how this skit has, like, 2-3 very similar but distinct jokes elegantly woven between one another--making fun of jingoistic post-9/11 country songs, making fun of how the country artists are willing to talk a big game because they weren't directly affected, and making fun of how the country artists clearly have beef against New York.
"The water supply ain't guarded, there's a valve at forty-fifth and ninth, through which you could easily introduce hemorrhagic fever toxins into the municipal water supply...." Better than some lyrics I've heard.
At first I didn’t get it and assumed it was a joke about country musicians acting all big and tough towards legitimately dangerous terrorist organizations but it all started making sense at about 0:43
I've heard a lot of older country fans mention this. After September 2001, a lot of country changed from being the blues for poor and working class white Americans to this hypernationalist and somewhat xenophobic thing.
Aside from the obvious talents of the acting, writing, graphics, casting, etc, a large part of why it’s so particularly cohesive and realistic-seeming is the result of a good Director.
I remember back in the 1980s many of the country songs would sing about how they hated New York and they loved their country lifestyle. I think this was the point of the satire.
"In Fountain City, WI, lecture on voting teaches students that 1/300,000,000th of America's future is in their hands" LOL I love the Onion News Network... you have to watch each segment again with the sound off so you can read the ticker going underneath... it's like getting two videos from every segment
Hey, I know you posted this more than a decade ago but I'm rewatching these and this comment is a nostalgia blast. I felt the same way when I watched this in 2011 and I would have totally replied to it then too lmao
How could this story been broadcast without commentary by Al-Qaeda terrorism commentator, Mr. Al Farooq? He has already demonstrated his art criticism expertise with an alternative design to the Twin Towers memorial. His insights are deeply missed.
How true. At first they seem insanely mad and therefore funny, but the farther you go, the more people you see actually embroiled in arguing about it and the more you get angry and saddened at seeing it.
Its a good song my grandpa an FDNY battalion chief like his music, and he was a FDNY captain during 9/11. It's silly to say this stuff honestly people profit off disasters all the time
It's weird to think that when this video was posted on UA-cam it was a little over 6 years since 9/11, now it's over 15 years since this video was posted.
Did you find it funny when the skies of NYC were lit up in red, right before the entire state ceased to exist? Are your currently charred remains having fun? Do you still live in that irradiated wasteland people used to call “New York”, laughing about this video?
"The water supply ain't guarded / There's a valve at 45th & Main / through which you could easily introduce hemorrhagic fever toxins into the municipal water supply / through an inlet pump substation..."
Such patriotism brings a joyful tear to my eye!
LOL best part of the video for sure.
Heck yeah!
I think Ra's Al Ghul heard this and was inspired to attack Gotham
You are a saviour!

I love how professional Onion TV actually acts. These guys are better actors than most hollywood stars.
yep
They seriously are. They can’t be getting paid much but they are so dedicated to doing a quality job. Guess they just really love what they are doing.
yeah
I like it that some people think it's real, and some people are saying this is fake.
Here's your 700th like from me.
Meanwhile, in the scrolling text: "new hand-held video device lets users watch ads anywhere"
This was in 2008, that wouldn't even pass as a joke today
Tbf, we had video on phones in 1992. The first iPhone had UA-cam preinstalled in 2007.
It actually makes more sense now... The number of unskippable ads have only gone up on our mobile phones!
Wait a minute, I think these country music folks have an ulterior motive.
:0
No. Shhhhhhhhhh. Sing along
And I ope
C'mon, they're folksy folks!
How dare you slap "aGeNdA" over their beautiful works of art?°
Yeah they just wanna get rich off of this tragedy. Shameful money-grubbees.
I love how Wayne is able to get an electric guitar sound from an acoustic. That man is a country musical genius!

All this video is missing is the reaction of Al-Qaeda's official spokesman, and regular Onion News Network contributor, Omar Al-Farouq.
