I've had the Movi about a year and never really got into using it. Been watching all the official tutorials but yours was the first to nail (for me) main of the functions and how to set them. Great tutorial. Thank you.
One of the best reviews! Not a lot of people mention the tripod mount or mention that you can buy replaceable batteries. Going to Vietnam and this will be a great tool!
I'm a customer of Ripple Training and was delighted to see you branch out to a product overview like this. When you guys talk, I feel like I'm getting straight goods from people who know what they're talking about. Interesting location for a video, too. Anyway, your video persuaded me to order a Movi when I got an e-mail from B&H this afternoon saying that it has some in stock. Yes, the Movi is more expensive than competing offerings, but I'm very attracted to the form factor and what I expect will be better customer support.
Hi Mark: Yes, I'll follow up with my views. Also, I'm aware of the fact, reading comments and looking at some of Freefly's new tutorials, that your overview may not be perfect. But given that UA-cam, when it comes to photography and video, is quickly becoming a version of the Shopping Channel, your overview is a breath of fresh air. I'll take this moment to also thank Leo for showing me a bit of Buenos Aries, a city that I've always wanted to visit.
Mark! I hope you've enjoyed Buenos Aires. And I did take advantage of the talk you gave about Motion, which was way more than an eye-opener for me. Thanks, and I hope you'll return someday!!!
Kyle Fitzgerald YES! I agree. A manual or better tutorials should be provided with purchase. Thank goodness for this review/ tutorial. Great job. Now I need to practice.
Great review Mark! Movilapse does pan, just very slowly because if it moved fast the hyperlapse would have strange jump cuts at every turn. So you have to start your turns way ahead of time & make them as wide as possible.
Compare it to carrying a ladder down the street. You gotta start the turn way early when a corner is coming up ;). Im sure there is a pan setting in there somewhere. But the turn rates are super slow, like 1 minute for a 90degree turn etc.
WOOOW! how? I'm still waiting for them to reply to me because I won on their FB Live contests. They told me they would reply as soon as everything is finalized. so excited about it
Thank you for the tutorial. Unfortunately Freefly didn’t provide instructions, or a tutorial. Which I find completely ridiculous! Learned quite a bit from your vid. I appreciate it.
i think maybe orbit mode is for when the camera is facing *you* ... so, you put your face in frame and then rotate yourself, which gets a sort of panorama with you in it
Good to see Buenos Aires, but a bit concerned trying to absorb the point Mark mentions at 7 minutes in about the inability of gimbals to handle linear updown motion. I had thought to use it on a bike to smooth out jitters caused by the constant up and down vibration of the bike that makes the horizon of footage filmed on my iphone dance like a jitterbugger but sounds like from what you say the Freefly Movi Cinema (or any other gimbal) will not be able to do this?
GRACIAS RIPPLE TRAINING for the awesome tutorial! Could you PLEASE POR FAVOR take one minute of your time? ...readers please include yourselves... : It seems like a dumb question but there is absolutely no ANSWER for such an important subject in ALL Movi FreeFly tutorials (both written & video) and you are the only one in the 10 tutorials that I've recently swallowed that shows the batteries or refers to them: HOW CAN I CHARGE THE BATTERIES OF THE MOVI FREEFLY? Thanks in advance for your time, Felipe -Buenos Aires, Argentina
Great review and tutorial. Freefly should link to this video on their website. You do a much better job than they do in clearly explaining the basics of operation, movement and modes. Thanks!
Not sure if the Movielapse observation is accurate. The demo videos online do show it making turns while walking forward, but maybe it's a setting or technique that helps execute the maneuver. Would love see a follow-up, +4 month update now that you've had time to use it.
Hello sir, I like your video quality while shooting from mobile, so will you please tell me in what resolutions & fps you shoot from your mobile and in which software did you edited these review videos ???
Can you set everything you mentioned in the video and use another app to film? Will it remember the settings when you switch to different camera app? Edit: I just read you can use the default mode with different app, but not any advanced settings like axis locks or special modes.
Hi. Just curious if you experienced issue with sound of working motors on recorded video like it's barely noticeable during shooting but distinctively appear in final video and sound completely failed?
Great review - thank you! I just canceled my Movi order because of the price and the issue it seems to have with the bluetooth you mentioned as well as another review on B&H. for $300 plus $70 for the weights, I expect a finished product that works better then any other gimbals that are half the price. I will stick with my original OSMO Mobile for now.
What frame rate do you typically shoot in? I have an iPhone 7plus and am getting some stutter / shaking when panning - but I was in 24 fps.. 60 fps seems to be better from what I’ve tested? Just wanted to get your thoughts
Thanks for this. Great review. The phone is becoming more and more of an option as video camera. May I ask what the less pricey alternatives you hinted at are?
This is the best gimbal for mobile phone. Unfortunately it’s not available in Malaysia! Can wait to buy one of this. I have a osmo mobile it’s not that great.
Caveat: this discontinued gimbal cannot support the large modern cellphones (whose height is more than 14.5 cm). As with many modern items that lack proper quality control, a number of this gimbals suffer from defective issues. The most serious one is very bad shaking that is caused by the motor and you cannot do anything against it
I'm having issues transferring the footage from my iphone to my mac. I believe my computer doesn't recognize the format. Do you have a solution? (I'm using the Movi native app)
Hi Mark, i am Dutch, excuses for perhaps wrong explanation. Oh yes anno 2023, is bought second hands the discontinued Freefly Movi. Happy as well to came across your video presentation shoot in Argentina. Analyzing the software that time little different because in the white window where is Majestic, echo etc on the right corner above is on the software I use located Ninja. Yours hasn't that button. Reason I contact you is minute 8, locking the pan with the trigger. I set Freeze up in the settings but it has no effect. because the trigger remove on the screen the response, window, tilt and rolling. Only the Freeze active is to see. Puch again the trigger then Freeze is off and the response, window, tilt and roll is again visible. To get the PAN stable, what I doing wrong? This questions are late after date, perhaps you do not use the Freefly anymore? I hope you remember the situation. To end, have understanding that I do not understand actually your words into the presentation around minut 8 according freeze the PAN. Last, this is the first Gimbal ever in use. I am Luc, Jeannette is keeping alive by still using her account into UA-cam.
The device is driven by the app; all of the cool things it does rely on the app. So yes, if someone decides they don't want to use the app (for reasons unfathomable to me), they will be missing a majority of the features.
Got mine in today. I am very disappointed that the directional buttons do not control the pan and tilt. Also, that it does not take pictures!!!! I mean come on how hard would this be. If you put directional buttons on something they should be able to control DIRECTION!!!
Caleb Turner That’s a real shame... I want to order it, but they should really add some essential features such as ability to take photos and panorama shots, object/subject tracking etc. No excuse to not have those features considering the price they are charging. I just received the Smooth 4 today, want the Movi Freefly as well, but being obligated to carry 2 gimbals on trips because 1 doesn’t do everything I need is a bit much.
I have the product. It works well for video but there is no way to also take stills within the application. How stupid! You can leave the app on the iPhone 7 but in the iPhone 10 it is very difficult to leave the app to take a photo. A product that is not complete
Nice review! The lack of subject/object tracking is literally the only reason I refuse to buy this. Shocked they chose not to include such an #essential feature for this type of product smh.
@@FrifiTVI have noticed in some of the channels that work comparing mobile devices in terms of video that they use Android devices on the cinima robot, and I was surprised
I've had the Movi about a year and never really got into using it. Been watching all the official tutorials but yours was the first to nail (for me) main of the functions and how to set them. Great tutorial. Thank you.
Really appreciated your honest review that doesn't come off like a paid advertisement.

Please let us know what you think of it. As was pointed out to me in another comment, it DOES pan in Movilapse mode, just very slowly, FYI.

👍🏼 Really awesome, detailed overview. I just got my Movi Robot yesterday and am just learning all the features. This video was really helpful! Thanks!

Thanks for coming to the presentation Cristian, glad you enjoyed it!
WELL DONE !!!!! I was just about to send this back for a refund.....Now I have second thoughts. FREEFLY needs to have him as a spokesman.
the first spinning transition is so dope, using sky as bridge between those two frame
Thanks, Mark. Haven't received my Movi yet. Still waiting. Told me 6 to 8 weeks about a week ago. Enjoy yours. Best, Ed
Great video, I just got mine and you offered better instruction than any of the videos they have produced. THANK YOU
Kyle Fitzgerald YES! I agree. A manual or better tutorials should be provided with purchase. Thank goodness for this review/ tutorial. Great job. Now I need to practice.
Great review! Your tutorial is much more comprehensive than Movi's. Still waiting for Filmic pro to be compatible - Hopefully soon!
Fantastic review! Great job showing all the features in a way we can all understand. Subscribing to you for sure!
Thank you for how detailed this is. Super helpful!
Great review Mark! Movilapse does pan, just very slowly because if it moved fast the hyperlapse would have strange jump cuts at every turn. So you have to start your turns way ahead of time & make them as wide as possible.
Ah great to know - it didn't seem to pan when I was shooting while riding in an Uber - when we turned, the camera refused to follow.
Compare it to carrying a ladder down the street. You gotta start the turn way early when a corner is coming up ;). Im sure there is a pan setting in there somewhere. But the turn rates are super slow, like 1 minute for a 90degree turn etc.

Great product review! Thank you for taking the time to go through all the features and share your experience!
Lucky man! It looks amazing. I love to travel.
Hello Buenos Aires. Very informative and comprehensive reviews.
Thanks for sharing.
Great review, well done. Better than the 18 Movi manual Videos posted

Thanks for a COMPLETE review that was enjoyable and easy to follow. Thanks also for not doing it like everybody else ('nuff said)...
Great Review, just a minor miss - You called it a Firefly multiple times.
Yeah sorry about that. Some text screwups in there too.
That Sci-Freudian slip is allowed. Firefly forever ;)
Thanks for your great review.

Great review as always!
I want this for the clamp and the future modes that they will include. I hate pulling the phone on the osmo and smooth q.
Dante Corbett you have both ?

Nice review and thorough. Only suggestion is to lower the music audio to voice. Kept having to lower and raise my volume while watching.
Hello sir,
I like your video quality while shooting from mobile, so will you please tell me in what resolutions & fps you shoot from your mobile and in which software did you edited these review videos ???
Price tag is slightly justified, knowing no other mobile gimble comes close to the steadiness this achieves. Nice channel by the way
Ozmo 3 is just as good! if not better with more features and half the price.
Is their a loop setting?
Can you set everything you mentioned in the video and use another app to film? Will it remember the settings when you switch to different camera app?

Awesome review! Thinking about getting one. How does the app affect your iPhone battery life?
Not noticing a big difference
Great Job. It helps a lot!
Thanks, Mark.
The case in your video says Freefly
Can I use iPhone camera app will this gimbal ?
Can I use any filming app I want with this, such as MAVIS or Filmic Pro?
Yes and no - you can but you won't have access to all the great Modes. Best to use their app.
What frame rate do you typically shoot in? I have an iPhone 7plus and am getting some stutter / shaking when panning - but I was in 24 fps.. 60 fps seems to be better from what I’ve tested? Just wanted to get your thoughts

Osmo 1 and Osmo 2
This is the best gimbal for mobile phone. Unfortunately it’s not available in Malaysia! Can wait to buy one of this. I have a osmo mobile it’s not that great.
Can I use this for taking pictures?
Still very functional in areas with no wifi.
@RippleTraining - Where did he get this battery pack?
The Movi seems great but sadly it's not for left handed folks. The others are ambidextrous.
Im left handed and it’s quite comfortable to use
I just got mine and my only gripe with the movi is there is no control for changing the tilt while filming.
Yes there is you just unlock the tilt by click the lock icon on the screen
Or bind the trigger button to tilt lock/unlock
Nice & Thanks :)

Does it have controls for Zoom?
Is there a "recenter/re-level" gimbal? I find mine to be off center a lot even after tuning.
I just unlock/relock the tilt and roll buttons
does this work in portrait mode?
I'm having issues transferring the footage from my iphone to my mac. I believe my computer doesn't recognize the format. Do you have a solution? (I'm using the Movi native app)
Did have a app or now
Looks like alot of fun.$300 is pricey
Well compared to a gimbal for a DSLR it's a steal
Pricey? Not really. A normal day of work. Do you work at Macdonalds or something?
chill bro

which iphone are you using and do you get jitters when doing majestic recording? I notice your video that some frame jump issues.
iPhone 8 plus and yes I occasionally got some jitters

Will all the features work without iPhones? Please reply.
I don't believe there is currently an android app for it.

Why is the music so LOUD?
hi friend, is it waterproof? can i use it for rafting ?
It is definitely not waterproof
Ripple Training do u still recommend it!!
Of course - it's a great piece of moviemaking tech (waterproof or not)

Not at this time
yes ! now

At $300 it’s way overpriced in comparison to similar products.
299 :)
which similar products?
Great video if it wasn’t for the horrible screeching music!!😣
music is annoying
