As a kid, growing up in the 1950s, I loved rock & roll; but thanks to my parents, I was also introduced to some great songs in Yiddish and Hebrew, sung by outstanding vocalists like Jan Peerce, Richard Tucker, and Cantor Moishe Oysher. I'm glad I had that experience. Cantor Oysher died too young, from heart disease, in November 1958; he was only 52. This song is from a 1950 album, "Chanukah Party," and the little girl doing the spoken introduction is his daughter Shoshanna.
