love watching these video's they are awesome but they need to be longer I was enjoying the big loco at the end then bang finished be good to show the whole day in 1 video
Hello - love your videos, but I'd like to know what are the advantages/disadvantages of operating with propane as opposed to coal or oil fired locomotives?...
Yes, a smaller locomotive, like an Allen Ten Wheeler, would cost around 10-14k ready to run. The top end would be for a big boy or other large articulated engine. A big boy just sold for $245,000
I realise it is not for sale but how much would the Daylight cost for it and the two cars? Not wanting to buy it per say just looking around to get price ideas
Hayden Fant he spent 5,500 hours working on the locomotive and 500 on the tender. 6,000 hours x $10 an hour would be $60,000. The boiler would be $7,500 to have built and the kit for the chassis would be 10-12k. To give you an idea what would go into something like this. The steel for the cars was $1,500 and each set of trucks is $1,400 plus the air brake system and paint. There are machinists that would do the work for you but you're looking at $65-100 an hour.
Wow. Lots of great locomotives and a great day too. Really nice to see. Thanks!
