- In this video I finalise the rebuilding of the ford pinto engine then, using a block and tackle show how its not to hard a job to slot these engines in if you have patience and the right equipment.
Nice work Pete , very interesting I’ve learned such a lot from watching your vids you seem to be able to explain things in a manner I can understand so that’s brilliant. a great upload really enjoyed it ,that old cortina really has come a long way 👍
The velvet voice of Matt Munro from 1969 great film...."The Italian job"
Bird sounds like the young of a long-eared owl. Nice job on the engine, and a handy refresh for my brain. I still have to do engine overhaul on my Granada that i have not driven or worked on for 20 years...
Oh brilliant video i missed the live thankyou Pete brilliant as always...
Glad you enjoyed it
Lovely stuff, thank Pete. =)
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Pete, I do the same to my Capri V6 GT hoses by smearing the inside with hi-temp grease. Mainly to try and stop oxidation but it also lets you remove the hoses easier. Keep up the good work! Greg from Australia
Thanks for sharing
great work hi from norwich thank you
Hello there! chris
Great video Pete addictive watching
The spring bolt on the tensioner is a star drive socket because I think otherwise if it were a domed bolt it would foul the timing cover if fitted. I may be wrong
Maybe a pull out canopy over the garage door might be an idea
I had a watercooled Beetle I loved, I didn't get an OEM pump when we did the timing kit. I bought a Gates aftermarket pump and I still remember the sound when the pump froze and spun the timing belt. I learned the hard way never to skimp on a pump.........

I owned a few cortina mk4 and 5 back in late 80s and 90s as well as sierras. One of my cortinas broke its cambelt at stairfoot roundabout barnsley i was on my way to doncaster. I walked to a parts shop and bought the belt and a few tools walked back fitted the belt in 30 mins and away i went to my destination none interference pinto engine fab engine
Great progress Pete
I also sub to TE channel.
EKP = Engine King Pete !!
the tensioner spring was deleted on later pintos - 1985 onwards just use a normal m8 bolt with plain washer - you just tension them manually,
Really enjoyed the video Pete, I think the bird call is a blackbird, I've heard them make that high pitch sound quite a few times. Geoff Mortimer.
Pete its the old saying you get what you pay for. With the " cost effective" parts you have the joys of a cooked engine down the road
I’m sure I used to pull the engine and gearbox out together as one unit - I haven’t done one since 1988 though 😂
👑
Nice, i miss working on proper cars, did countless engine swaps like this or 4 people and Aluminium( if i was lucky) scaffold bar, i quite mourn even Sierra's and later RWD Granada,s
Hey Pete. How you doing mate? I've got myself a new/newer car, so maybe I can spend some time on my mk3, then perhaps I could come to your neck of the woods and you can give me your diagnosis on the axle noise, maybe. IF I can get it back on the road again.
When is the Kent going back into KPAPPA?
ps: the "star drive" is a Torx bolt. 😉
Great video again Pete, hope you are keeping well in all this crap weather. I love a storm but the constant rain can get you down! Are you keeping the pinto in now, or are you planning on putting the original xflow back in her?
I hope so too but im really happy driving it at moment with the pinto, i can at least work on it and service it, i have no spares for x flow as yet
Nice progress again 👍 I have a throttle bracket if you still need one Pete. I assume it’s the one that bolts onto the inlet manifold?
Gaz..
🤘😎🤘
Hey how do I get hold of you? Got mk 5 crayford cortina out of a field apparently your the man to talk to…I need some parts..
you can reach me via the nk3 owners club
Blackbird?
Hi pete
Are you keeping the old gearbox or changing it?
keeping
you dident set the rotor arm to the mark/ignision..vhen yoy did the cam belt???
oh no the 1600 x-flow is gone, the door trims are gone- papa is turning into a wannabe!
yes, and i think it was a wanna be GT from day one, so it's a mix match regardless, however was it an L a base or GT? it seemed none of those
