Ever since I did a seminar under Erik Paulson,I’ve been obsessed with catch wrestling, but it’s so hard to find a good teacher in the U.K.! Please keep these videos coming, they’re amazing thanks :)
Really? Isn't Wigan the most popular form of Catch Wrestling, which started in the UK (Wigan England)? One would think that this stuff would be common in the UK but I'm an American on the outside looking in.
Roy wood @ the Snake Pit in Wigan Wayne Poulter @ Total Fighting Academy Peterborough Chris Crossan @ legit pro wrestling There's more around UK as Roy Wood was taking coaching courses fairly recently
I feel like an idiot!! I never knew this was an actual REAL style! I thought when pro wrestlers referred to "Catch as Catch can" they meant a pro-wrestling style from England. This is fucking bad-ass. Kenzo Sacoeroba's style.
@@eurobeatenthusiast2157 I'm terrible at remembering names, faces yeah, names, forget it. And I've been watching that guy for over 20 yrs. Thanks bud!!
It's literally like aspiring to learn a secret Martial art that you have to go to a foreign country but instead of rural China or a shaolin temple..you go on a downtown area somewhere in Manhattan where's the snake pit gym located
This is really awesome. I dont know why are you guys so anonymuss? Bjj has school in every city on the planet and cacc has like 10 legit school in the world i guess 😁😁
It's because the Gracies were aggressively promoting BJJ from different angles. Also, I think watering CACC down to pro wrestling didn't do the sport a favor, either, because this made people associate catch with faked realism. Last but not least, not enough schools internationally, I'd say... nobody knows this is a martial art even, because there are no schools to be seen anywhere... I live in Berlin and there's one place that does 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu that hints at also teaching some catch techniques, apart from that it's BJJ all over the place.
@@liukang85 don't forget the long history of hiding the art from general knowledge. Only the "hookers" of the day knew what was up. It's killed the art and also created room for a lot of fakery.
you guys should have openned that CACC school in midtown manhattan yesterday. pathtrain or ferry away from one of the most lucrative cities/markets in the world. plenty of Jersey residents commute into the city to hustle and make their fortunes.

A guy came up to us while we were practicing the first takedown and told us it was a bad way of attacking, because when you lift the leg from a standing position, he could just roll you back over his shoulder as a counter. I think you know what you're teaching, I told him there's always a counter (if you attack from below, the counter would be sprawling....). What is your take on this? Thank you so much for all these instructional videos!
can_of_woopwoop That first takedown is step by step exactly how Billy Robinson taught it. It’s not my favorite way of attacking with a single, but I’m not about to doubt anything that man taught me. You’re absolutely correct, everything has a counter and there’s a counter to the counter. I appreciate the support. 🙏🏻- J Bane
One thing that i have noticed about most of the catch wrestlers they are very big and strong. This is just the opposite of BJJ. But i do like Catch wrestling better than Bjj.
Big Member Note: One of the main reasons is to first, hyper extend the arm, 2nd force them half way to you, and lastly it prevents the re-drag. It’s just an old Catch variation. We use both with several set ups off different tie ups in our program. Thanks for watching.
I don't dislike it because I feel that it doesn't work, rather I dislike it cus the first 2 times someone did it to me they went at the elbow and I got injured. at the time I was like 280 pounds and the first fool didn't tell me what he was going to do he was just like "let me show this guy I'm working with something" and I was like oh sure what are we doing 'pow' I'm like dude wtf?! it left a bad taste in my mouth
Derek Terrill great question. Notice it’s off of an inside single step. Instead of the typical set up with the outside single head up and against the chest. This was a pure Billy Robinson move. We teach both to carry on the legacy and to constantly ensure the highest percentage takedowns are taught in our program. 👍🏻 - J. Bane
Take care in the head-oudside single-leg position. Some people try to drop down with you, ramming your head into the mat, possibly resulting in neck injury. The side step at the end of technique is key to bringing opponent down but staying up yourself. If you 'tackle' your opponent from head-outside single-leg position, you can get hurt badly.
You don't actually slide as you would in Baseball... it's just called that way because it looks like it. There's no real weight on your skin on most of the 'sliding' motions here, and there isn't much skin contact with the ground either, if you look closely.

Catch wrestling is a badass, practical martial art. Love it.
OMG. The beauty and the practical use is out of this world. Please God, please make Catch wrestling a thing in my country.
Extremely good instructional.
Not a lot of unnecessary talking, great editing and easy to follow.

I agree with you, this style seems to be under known and under-appreciated. The guy you're referencing is named Kazushi Sakuraba by the way.

I pray catch grows go a point where it is recognized world wide.
Yes. Catchwrestling needs More exposure!
It once was, it can be again!
we need more of the likes of Sakuraba and Barnett
Here in brazil we "call" it luta livre, and I practice it.
And it's growing in practinioners.
Much Respect for catch as a catch can
I pray it grows to the point where I can do it lmao. I can’t find places round me
I want to traing catch wrestling, but its serious problem to find, a real deal Teacher...
Karlik Fight I have been having the same problem ass well finding someone
join a bjj gym. everyone at my bjj gym does these.. call it whatever you want, its grappling on the mat
Daniel Reynolds well yes that’s been my other option joining a BJJ gym
It's literally like aspiring to learn a secret Martial art that you have to go to a foreign country but instead of rural China or a shaolin temple..you go on a downtown area somewhere in Manhattan where's the snake pit gym located
Go to Josh Barnett
Why is it not recognized worldwide? It's a great art. Very cool to watch

A sad fact. I plan to study at a catch wrestling school, then try to build and teach my own one someday.
The information available on this channel is incredible.
Very good video, I’m in CA and if their was a Catch training facility in in Northern California, I would surly join. Thank you for sharing.

Advantageous for big guys to use

Requesting you do a Fireman's Carry series, takedowns, throws, and "crotchless fireman's" carry, shoulder throw techniques.
Those are on this DVD. Available at: snakepitusa.com/shop/specialty-dvds/ 👍🏻
Awesome instruction!
Catch-as-catch-can and Brazilian jiu-jitsu seem to be a good combo along with some realistic silat training

i wouldnt advise the baseball slide in the streets if you like having skin on your legs...
HOTRODRICO but how if your wearing jeans will the damage be less?

This are not beginner takedowns. You had better have your bread and butter takedowns and counters down first.
The instructor is much bigger than the student, so of course the stuff is going to work. Anything he does is going to work.
It works to everypne
John Johnson it’s a demonstration genius.
