WOW! 100 years since this was built. Always did like the Albatros and Kermit is so gracious to bring and share his aircraft and knowledge to the masses. And a salute to all those flyers on all sides of the war- they had balls of steal for sure.
Mr. Weeks (Kermit). I live in Milwaukee and have been to EAA many times. I do not fly but have been in love with the idea since I was a boy. (I'm 62). I also am in love with the WW1 aircraft. I hope you come back next year as I would make a special trip to shake your hand and watch you fly those great airplanes!!! From the dawn of time man has wanted to fly. We are so very blessed to live in a time when that is possible. Though I like all aircraft (The F-22 is fantastic) those early birds are what captures my heart. The Fokkers! Anyway thank you so very much. Your hard work and the obvious love you have for flying has a ripple effect like a pebble in a pond. I can unwind at night just before bed and watch you soar from those great little cameras. Keep flying!!!! Tom Hoffman
I'm a builder of WW1 model aircraft and I note on these marks that Kermit has that none have that typical "peak and valley" look to the wing fabric seen in model kits; they are "tight as a drum" doped fabric over the structural ribs of the wing. Virtually no kits available today have that right, and none in the past did. So I make my wings from scratch to be more accurate. These videos are of great help in other details as well. Thanks for posting!
I was in the crowd, ..... fantastic ! .... It was a JOY to hear you, see ya in person and see all these GREAT flying machines, made my trip to OSHKOSH a Joy ! and The Great Waldo Pepper was my favorite, brought back some memories of the movie. I have all good intentions of making a trip to Florida to see your Fantasy of Flight soon as possible.. Thank You again for what YOU are doing for the aviation community.
YES I did fly to Wisconsin from Oregon .... on United... my Med. has been down for some years but I am flying a lot with a young CFI helping him build time.... Had to book a room in Hartford 'cause everything else was booked and expensive .... was just a bit of a drive every morning ... went solo (wife not one of us ) and had a GREAT time... I've been watching the DRACO build all Winter/Spring and HAD to see it in person and meet the Flying Cowboys.... and I DID ! Kermit is a cool dude ! Happy Flying . Robert
YEH.... I saw him BACK into his hanger, I'd bet my pocket full of small change that HE is the only person on earth that has done that... not to many people have a back up camera and a turbine aircraft to do that with and a big hanger ................. Off to Sun-& Fun in 2019, one must see all the great shows at least one time while we can and that Great show place of Kermit's ....enjoy life and Fly Safe.
Kermit, I commend you for all the work and expense it took to get these planes to Oshkosh. I know how hard you and your people worked to get these planes flyable for the event. Even though some were not able to take to the air the effort was tremendous. Always a big fan. Matt
Kermit, I have learned so much from your videos. I am also a big WWI aviation fan. It always amazes me how far the engineering advanced from Kitty Hawk to 1914 - 1918.
Really excited to see what Fantasy of Flight is going to become Kermit - I hope I get the chance for a revisit in 3 years time....do keep your fans this side of the atlantic updated!!
You and I are the same age Kermit and we both got into aviation through building models. Built some WWI aircraft but WWII was where I got my interest in aircraft
Wish he'd have let you go on some more about the young people thing, mostly because I was thinking the same thing when he said it. I kind of feel like if enough people are exposed to it, even briefly in passing, those that are interested in it will come to it naturally. In your case it was models, in my case the early 90's computer game Red Baron, etc. Mass events like this, perhaps a kid just walks by and somehow learns it's an airplane from WWI; well, they probably have the internet and that's one heck of a rabbit hole to fall down requiring only the slightest of effort. If they want it, they'll come. It may be it's not an area of interest that ignites the passion of many people in the future but that's ok, too.
Where are you getting the money from? How can I get in this world? I&m amazed about how big business you have in general. Can I clean the windows of your airplanes?
A question Kermit do you have the same problems as the WW1 pilots and the use of castor oil blowing off the motor and the pilot ingesting the oil or do you use a different oil?
Wait, whaaat? Peter Jackson build this? that's mind blowing, suddenly hobbit is 1000 times better :) Could we wrangle him into making some ww2 movie? Maybe he will build few 1:1 working replicas of German tanks :)
Look no further than the Flying Cowboys. If their vids don't jazz up millennials to what is possible in aviation nothing will. Let's not forget Steveo1Kinevo showing the professional side of aviation. Premier1Driver shows what is possible with a little bit of family cash and a military aviation background. Lots of good stuff out there thanks to UA-cam.
Cyril Hudak lol millenials cant afford things like this lol we don't have family cash, and there's no work, and the work that's available doesn't pay enough to make a living. The phrase use to be you walk around like you own the place. These days it's you walk around like you rent the place.
Such a piece of history right there.
Original Mercedes engine!
Thank you Mr. Kermit Weeks!!!

100 years on the engine. The airframe is less than a decade old. Look up The Vintage Aviator Limited. They are an amazing group.
History will thank you for finding and restoring these aircraft. In the mean time I personally thank you.

Thanks! I'll be there next year. Hoping to have something new and really cool there.
Jeez, osh will probably get its first freezing temps in a few weeks.
Love keeping up with all things Kermit! What a treasure he and his community is!

It's always cool to see what your up to Kermit..... You make it fun, without you these aircrafts would be forgotten. Thanks buddy.
Love what you’re doing. Kermit, you rock!

Well said Mr. Kermit. Lead and they can make up their own minds. Yeh!
Kermit it sounds like by the crowd clapping you have a bigger crowd watching here on UA-cam. Lol. Awesome video!! I love this bird!! 🤙🏼😁🤙🏼
Love it when he calls some weird technical thing a “deal”
Awesome again Kermit.
Very cool. Come to Kingsbury,Tx. They have an Aerodrome in which they build WWI aircraft.
If I lived near Kermit's operation, I would try to be a volunteer that is if he uses volunteers ?
That is awesome.

Hopefully you will recover those wings and get it ready to fly again!!!!

Engaging youth? Flite Test is doing a great work... would love the see Fantasy of Flight Host a Florida Flite Fest!

VERR NIICE
Right 😎 👍🏻.
A question Kermit do you have the same problems as the WW1 pilots and the use of castor oil blowing off the motor and the pilot ingesting the oil or do you use a different oil?
same
@@KermitWeeks444 LOL it would be worth it to fly wonderful old planes like that though.
That looks like a Thompson prop.

tyler grimm Just for shits and giggles; Google Mark and Mike Patey.
Cyril Hudak ok
@@tylerthegrimm This is absolutely true. Wages are stagnant and the phrase "Family money" makes my fucking teeth hurt.
I've wanted to be a pilot since 2009 and all I've done since then is barely get by.
That doesn't pull thru like any 200 I have propped.
