As someone who is based in Southern California, I can tell you the varying degrees of football shirt hunting. Luckily, there is a more of a football culture in this area. Ross, TJ Maxx, Ross, Burlington, and Marshall's contain these items. But the hidden gems are the specialty soccer stores with everything there.

Stopped a Thogden vid to immediately watch this one when it posted 😆
In the US, $90 is for the Replica/Stadium version of the shirt. A Player Spec shirt will go for $120 - $140. If you add a player name set, add another $20 - $30.
Adidas has had a lock on MLS since 2005, no sign of that changing anytime soon.
Try searching the charity shops. Savers, Goodwill, Salvation Army. There may be others in the Orlando area, dunno.
EDIT : Watched to the end, you did find some thrift shops 👍

Honestly it depends on where you go in the US. It's not the same as in Europe, where every bag of donated clothes has a football shirt. You need to specifically go to Goodwills or thrifts in certain areas with higher hispanic or european immigrant populations. Have to also look at "hype culture" second-hand or vintage shops/fairs. They have no clue how to price stuff. Gotta be much more tactical, but it can totally be done once you find your spots and rhythm.

Being from Canada, purchasing football shirts not available (retail authentic player cut) here in Canada sucks. Exchange rate, import fees/taxe/shipping and handling will make you question whether to make the purchase again or just buy a fake counterfeit shirt (which I would 100 percent not recommend).

    • @bossgran3264
      @bossgran3264 2 роки тому

@@RUmlasGenuinely it’s the worst, even bigger stores like sport Chek and Adidas don’t carry them and if they do it’s completely overpriced. Our only hope is to look on sites but even then as you mention currency exchange rate and import charges is just awful, like I bought a Napoli training top on eBay for $45 but I had to spend 70 maybe 80 Canadian because import charges and the currency exchange rate

Aside from the fact soccer competes with four other major sports, Adidas and Fanatics (fast fashion) have an exclusive deal with MLS so it’s almost always newer items in stores (at full price). If you wanted to find older shirts from around the world there are specialty stores but they are rare and usually in larger cities like NY or LA. Obviously it’s easier and cheaper to find European shirts in Europe. Soccer is considered a premium sport here - even at the youth level it’s “pay-to-play”. Basketball is the closest thing to Soccer in Europe on a community level and it’s still very different.

I’m not a shirt collector but I do sometimes see myself wanting to start but here in America I don’t see tons of football shirts. Nike never has any at the outlets (where you went) and my adidas usually does. Last time I went they had replica Germany World Cup shirts, Mexico World Cup shirts, Man United’s neon shirt (ugly), Real Madrids lavender shirt and Atlanta United’s recycled shirt (idk some thing of like recycled plastics into shirts it’s weird). If I ever started shirt collecting I’m 100% looking online. The only kits at regular retail stores here are gonna be Atlanta United shirts and mainly due to the fact Atlanta has maybe the best fan base in MLS. There are actually people at our games and we commonly sell out Mercedes Benz which is maybe 60K+ (it’s hard to know exactly since they do close off the upper decks)

I live like 25 minutes north east of Orlando and I'll find brand new MLS and even European shirts at TJ Maxx for 20 bucks. Never for a team I support, but I've seen Charlotte, LA Galaxy, Seattle, Portland, Kansas City, Chicago, Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea, Juve, AC Milan, Real and Atletico Madrid, Spain, Mexico, Canada, and more just randomly sitting on the clearance shelf.

I love this. Welcome to Ross, where I find most of my MLS jerseys. Actually just found that same Nashville jersey a few weeks ago at a Ross in Indianapolis.

@@awaydaysfootball ty for the quick comment back. I actually commented too soon into watching the video lol I have quite a few Atlanta United jerseys I've gotten at Ross. Most recently got a sleeveless training top. About a year ago there was a boom at all those stores: Marshalls, Ross, TJ Maxx, Burlington. I miss those days. Could find all sorts of soccer/football shirts all over.

There’s a shop in the UK pavilion at EPCOT which normally has some football tops in it. It’s usually just the current home and away tops for the top 5 in the PL and sometimes Celtic as well.

You should get the NYCFC volt kit it’s a bit crazy but it feels like something you like.

No surprise that Ross, Marshall's and Burlington are where most of the good stuff is. They tend to get stock of what doesn't sell at the bigger stores and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to where things end up regionally. For example, Nashville kits that didn't sell in Tennessee Adidas shops could end up in Nebraska's discount stores.
I found an Ivory Coast kit at my local Ross, and through a soccer swap FB group I'm in have bought several kits that folks have picked at Ross's, Marshall's, etc. around the country...Slovenia, El Salvador, FC Cincinnati, to name a few. I know St. Pauli kits were showing up at random stores not too long ago.
It's a complete crapshoot, but it's kind of also the only non-mainstream teams source of kits people can find locally in America.

Next time you come to the US... I highly recommend you visit "Burlington"... It is a variety store kind of like TJ Maxx (Or TK Maxx in your case)... But lately I've found football gear in it... Last time I found a Borussia Mönchengladbach And the Czech Republic jersey at a really good price... Another time I found the Mexico national team jacket too... So idea for your next video 😎

Everything's from overseas. The shipping and handling alone is expensive, coupled with the fact that it's not a major sport. No such thing as too many discounts and deals on them here. Maybe NYC?

It's actually incredible to see that people over in England and the UK actually love the MLS. If you're not from Ohio, Seattle/Portland or LA, the MLS is basically a non-factor here.

It’s painful being a football ⚽️ fan in USA. I remember like back in 2014 it was impossible to find anything I used to have order everything online. Nowadays it’s easier to find Kits like as a Dortmund fan twelve years ago when I used to go to stores to find our kits it was impossible to find. Now when I go to puma I always see our kits in store. Football ⚽️ is growing thankfully in USA.
