I have a different style of AStars with the BOA lock on the tongue. While this boa lock/release is at the ankle where a person is likely to impact the ground in a fall. This would potentially cause the lacing system to release at the wrong time. More importantly you talked about the style of the boot and nothing about toe cap, heel cup, ankle cup, or shin guard. Only that it met regulations. So did the above Astars boots that I spoke of but I wouldn’t recommend them to other riders. These boots are too expensive not to have such protection, or not to touch on those safety aspects specifically.
