Watching this on a sad night. This comedy hero die today. (August 20, 2017 ). My thoughts are with his wife and his daughter and his sons. He was a great Person in the sense he did good for a lot of people.
I've been binge reading everything about Jerry Lewis since he died; everyone who knew him in any way has been posting everything they would not have while he was alive. More than 1 said that after the suicide of one of his youngest sons, some of his other sons got together and told him that he killed himself because he never got any quality time with his father and felt unloved. Lewis was furious to hear this from his sons, and that they all knew this and he did not. He was angry with his remaining sons forevermore for telling him that, and refused to believe it. So sad for all concerned.
I kept reading in the media how Gary Lewis and Jerry Lewis did not really get along. They loved each other but there was a distance. I’m a big fan of both.
@@tod3msn He was a disgusting father and human being. Join Rivers was the one that outed him using humor. All he did was for his ego and image and his children be damned. He was an asshole. Of course there was a distance. Flawed and evil man.
@@joannaconner4495 His sons got the copyrights to all his work and were in their 60s and 70s when Jerry died... they weren’t kids... he provided for all of them. Shame a couple of them were very ungrateful. I agree with you, people need to research properly and get the real story.
What's wrong with that? It's all in humor, not reality. It's not like he was practicing satanic rituals up there or something. lol I'm a Christian by the way, and find nothing wrong with him playing the devil. Even in Christian films people play "the devil."
givethechanceakid I agree. It was just an acting part. Playing the Devil doesn’t make you an evil person, any more than, say, playing a murderer or a bank robber or something makes you a killer or a thief in real life. When you come off the stage (or the film set if it’s a movie), you leave the character behind and go back to just being yourself.
I never found Lewis at all funny. Dean Martin had the talent. Lewis was far too serious about his lack of talent. He could never understand people have their 15 minutes of fame. Plus Lewis had a small following. Like Justin Berber will be in 50 years....looking back on horny teenagers in love with him. From someone that was born long after Lewis's fame.
Jerry Lewis had a small following??? Jerry Lewis was loved by men and women, and people of all ages. And he still has newer fans all the time. He has current teenage fans? Please don't defile his name with Justin Bieber's in the same sentence. My eyes just rolled at your comment so hard.
What? Lewis was great, a top box office draw. He brought the vaudeville type comedy to a new generation. Other acts were slowing down at the time and Lewis picked up the ball and ran with it, but he too ended up slowing down cause you can't do that physical style comedy forever. Dean was for sure a big talent and played straight man as good as anybody else before or since, but don't act like Jerry was being carried by him, because who went on to the bigger career after the break up and could literally make his own movies?
69 years old very well, still very beautiful, fit, full of energy. The smile always so sweet. He was unique, there will never be another Jerry Lewis.
i grew up watching Jerry Lewis in everything i could. im sure he was my sweet escape. rip....Jer.❤

Lewis and Martin, Abbott and Costello should have got an Oscar for their contribution to entertainment alone. Not
Just an honorary Oscar.
Jerry Lewis was the best and funniest man that ever lived thank you Jerry
Beautiful
There will never be another Jerry Lewis.

Too bad he had to play "the DEVIL" with a big 666 on the back of his shirt in his one debut on the "BROAD WAY."

You are some kind of special stupid and dim!
Valerie Griner, too bad??? Lol he was playing a character!
Yes! I didn't like that! But I didn't see the play! If it was a positive message for good it would be ok. But I don't know
