I was born in 1990 in India. For me, this is the worst match India ever played. Far worse than 1996 Durban test, 1996 world cup semi, 1997 Barbados test, Australia whitewash in 2000, the McCullum triple hundred game and any of those 0-8 losses or the last 3 England tests from 2014. I think they dropped Jayasuriya twice (one of those very early on) and he made 189. During the Indian innings it seemed like all the batsmen forgot to bat. To make this worse, this was right after a wonderful and surprising champions trophy campaign that saw the emergence of Yuvraj and Zaheer.
jayasuriya was really graceful in victory on this day, he sort of sympathised saying india had a bad day but they aren't such a bad team, we were a team still recovering frm that match fixing scandal earlier that year, so may be this was a price we had to pay n so it's fine, jayasuriya was on fire that day, he really was !
