I love how that system isn't connected to anything else. Like the alarm doesn't trigger or alert anyone else somewhere in the base.

Well, gotta let the plot keep going. But that's why real life is a lot more mundane, most of the time.

As someone who’s worked in a few government facilities. I hate to say that it can be very accurate.

Keep in mind this was late 90s so there's a good chance that this is accurate

It's very accurate with reality even today. Either it costs to much to connect to the central alarm company, the purchaser din't request it because they don't know it can be done, or the installer of the scanner could not communicate properly with the alarm installer who works for a competing company. You need to specify EVERYTHING if you want different systems interconnected in any way, relying on common sense rarely works.

The hand devices were so underused by the SGC in general. A ton of missions would have got a lot better if a gate team could use a normal hand device or this one or even the ring blaster from the later series with that chick.

Would have required anyone who uses them to have Naquida in their blood.

Looking Impressive is part of the Deterrence against attempted Unauthorised Entry. Besides he probably passed through Five other Check Points before he got here.

I guess all those airmen in front of him didn't hear that alarm going off.

Love how the Ashrak knows everything about Earth military security, despite never having been to the planet before.

Usually they are very careful to say "Airman" but they slipped this time and the dude said "Soldier."

Speaking in terms of pure English, every enlisted man or woman is a soldier, a soldier is anyone who fights for pay. Airman is just the type of soldier, same as seaman, infantryman, tanker etc. Soldier basically just has it's root in the word 'pay', with the context being someone paid to fight in a war.

@@kauske Speaking in terms of pure dictionary English- but the military doesn't speak pure dictionary English, the military defines soldier as anyone in the Army, Sailor is anyone in the Navy, Airman is anyone in the Air Force, Marine is anyone in the Marine Corps.

@@TristanHayes It's mostly just the US military that gets bent out of shape over that, they can honestly grow up and use the language properly like the rest of the English speaking world.
Sailor is also not for the navy, you want seaman, as unfortunate as it may be.

UA-cam now started showing unstoppable 15+ second ads before a 9 year old 30 second video, and I assume you aren’t even getting the revenue..

I don't monetize anything. It was never the intent in the first place, but even if I wanted to I can't, because it's copyrighted content. The copyright holder has monetized my videos for themselves though. All I ever aimed to achieve is to keep a bit of Stargate alive and to hopefully introduce it to a new audience, and so far it seems to have been a success.
