In todays video I'm going to be messing around with the new Mutable Instruments Beads and some of the instruments lying around my studio with a bonus bit of Rings into Beads. I hope you enjoy the sounds :)
My favorite Beads video and really helped me understand how to utilize it. What a brilliant module. It seems to morph and adapt to what your patch is doing. Amazing. I got Marbles recently and I can't believe I've gone this long without it. I feel like it unlocked my system. Especially my other Mutable modules. Rings, Plaits and Beads with Marbles. Just pure, unadulterated beauty
Everything in this video sounded amazing 🔥 🔥 🔥
Thanks for making it!
favourite beads demo so far released
Aww thank you Carla! :)
Lovely harmonics……my dopamine and serotonin pumps thank you. Cheers!
You are most welcome! :)
Literally the first demo I have seen that actually uses the freeze function! And you use it so well too :) i am very excited to experimented with frozen acoustic instruments following the same sequences as other synth modules
The part with the lap steel guitar gave me goosebumps. Amazing...! 🤤
Same! I remember being blown away at that moment as I hadn't tried it before then :)
What a wonderful demonstration, really beautiful sounds.
showing off a different side of beads than I've seen in the other demo vids to this point. lovely sounds too!!!
Aww I'm glad! Thanks for watching :)
Perfect. I’ve long resisted Beads as everyone has it and it has a very specific sound however I’m working on a project at the moment that incorporates a load of acoustic instruments running through my modular. Really glad I have a Beads on the way. Looks perfect.
I've just found your channel, and I love it. Thank you.
This is so sweet, waiting for mine to arrive next week woooo! Thank you for the ideas
This gives me so many new ideas and things to try with Beads. Thanks a million for posting this!
You are so welcome! ❤️
Loved this, would be great to see a video from you giving a an overview of your whole modular rig.
Useful. I just received a Beads module that I purchased used. Based on your video I can see that it has certain similarities with the 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator, which I also have, although the SWN is significantly more complex.
Hi Taches, great in depth review of Beads, sold my Clouds and Monsoon a while back when i got my Arbhar (which I absolutely love) but had been sitting on the fence a bit re: Beads, as most of the other demos I have seen for the module had left me feeling a bit underwhelmed and uninspired by it, but your demo is the first one that actually made me want it! - Oops just pre-ordered one, got to find room for it in the racks now!! :)
Awesome video man. Lovely style, well versed and great sounds!
I love that sound
Very cool with the flute
Very nice demo!
Very cool demo of beads!
Thank you buddy! :)
@ I immediately tried your idea of Marbles into my recently acquired Beads. Blissful
Nice one! I have a Beads arriving next week so this is some great inspiration!
Great video. Just what I was looking for. Kinda on the fence with Beads. I too have a set of Native American flutes, and a lap steel. Great to hear some of the potential. I have a Microcosm, and am getting Pamela’s New Workout expander with the midi out to sync with the Microcosm (and a TC Electronics Triple Flashback). I wonder what magic could happen with both Beads and Microcosm together? Will experiment with the Microcosm and the expander before I take the plunge. Thanks for time putting this together.
Dudeee 😃😃😃😃 so nice to see your collection of acoustic instruments
Hehe gracias amigo! :)
lovely stuff! I haven’t had a chance to pick up a beads yet, but I’m sure that day will come, and this video is making me look forward to it 😊
Really cool. Looking forward to trying my sax 🎷 and guitalele through mine. The new overlapping grains are lovely aren’t they! Thanks for sharing, great vid. :)
Oooooh! I'm sure it'll sound RAD with the sax. Happy granulising friend :)
here for this ^^^
Just found your channel...great stuff! Cheers!
Nice video! Can you tell something about the way you are getting your mic into the input?
Must be a routing on the sound card or a daw that sends the mic to the modular
instantly subbed!!
Wonderful video!
I have those exact windchimes!
My coffees white with one sweetener please Taches!
Great video!have you tried nebulae v2? I intend to buy one granular module and my choises are beads and nebulae v2....can they both be clocked and sync to a bpm ?
man you're the legend
Really enjoyed the format of your video. Appreciate the zoom in on the module to watch what you are doing as you say it. This is the first time I have seen one of your videos. How do you think vocals would fare through Beads?
finaly i got mine today after really waiting my ass off. just can't wait to rack it next to radio music module!! great demo thos
That juul rip cut through the mix like nothing else
hi br0 - wana get started with modular, you seem to have a sound that suits my taste and not overwhelming, any chance you can give us a list of your modules / accessories?
it gets bored, i love that thing allready
Don't we all get bored and subsequently generate internal wavetables?
Great demo! Cant wait for my beads to arrive. what preamp are you using for the mic?
I made an album out of the sounds of you ripping on this nicotine blaster
Amazing ! Thank you so much ! Will be nice if you do a video teaching how to record the instruments and then use beads thanks
The flute sounds so beautiful combined with Beads! May I ask what flute it is exactly?
Lovely sounds. How did you do the sound on sound. Does the module remember what's in there (i.e. when you unfreeze) and you can then 'overdub' and freeze again (sound on sound?)
You know, I can't answer this question honestly because I really don't know. Beads is a device that as many times as I read the manual and as many times as I think I've figured it out, I'm always surprised.
I THINK that, depending on buffer size (dictated by quality mode) and the FEEDBACK amount, you can incorporate into the next buffer both the sounds previously recorded and sounds coming into it. HONESTLY, I have no idea though! Every now and then it just blows my mind and does, maybe not what i'm expecting, but something that makes me go; AH. Cool! Glad I bought this! Sometimes though, I try and recreate what I had going before and I just can't haha.
Hope you're having fun with your baby!
Sounded like Jon Hassell from time to time
Beads sounds amazing and your acoustic recordings are really nice! When you record the flute, is that going through your audio interface, then into the eurorack? If so, what is the eurorack module that is connected with the audio interface?
Absolutely brilliant video and really inspirational. Thanks! What's the name of the instrument and company you mention on min 01:55? Appreciated in advance!
hi ! i am enchanted by the demonstration around 19:20 with the flute running through beads making that excellent ambient scape - i am interested in making a mini-synth as a sorta introduction to the world of modular synthesis & i was wondering what other modules aside from beads you'd find useful to create such scapes? (i do have acoustic instruments of my own !) thanks n lovely video n demonstration ! -synth beginner ready to learn
hello! this is brilliant. to clarify, is your mic plugged straight into beads?
I’d love to know where you got that eurorack case. Great demo!
I bought off a man on eBay who had it made 10+ years ago 🥰
Hello! Great sounds! Can I ask you what kind of flute is that?
What euro case are you using for your main rack?
This makes me want to buy a flute
How would it sound with voice? New sub😎
What kind of woodwind is it that you’re playing and where did you get it? Absolutely loving your channel!
the rack looks really nice, what brand is it?
What oscilloscope is that? Having trouble finding it online.
Really nice demo, mate! Just got Beads as one of my first modules. Can you explain how you're sending the input of your mic into beads? Are you using one of the extra 1/4" outputs on the Clarett going in beads using a 1/4" TS to 1/8" TS cable?
Thank you buddy! I actually have my mic routed internally in Bitwig to send out through my ES8 into Beads and then back out of Beads into the ES8 and computer.
Sadness...they aren't available until May!?!?
That sound of the vape cracking could be another sound to try.
what flute is that?
Very nice demo of Beads!!!! Which mic you are using?
Thanks Maik! It's a Shure SM7B :)
What preamp are you using, please.
@@s.s.1300 It's the Clarett 4Pre USB :)
28:00 you're not getting pitch warble because the pitch is set at the beginning of a grain and held through the whole grain. so with long grains the pitch modulation is more like a detune.
in fact, all parameters are captured at grain seed, so grains which are playing will never change as they play
It’s called Scorched Cigarette mode.
PS Wish you recorded the sound of that e-cig
Lissajous!
At this point, they're the only reason I keep making music haha!
Send this thru an FFB ;)
Forgive my ignorance...so this is just an audio input and Beads (when not using Marbles)? Wow..
Super cool. Would you be interested in a collab track? I’ll put my live drums through beads and you some jazzy clarinet? 🖤🎛🤟
i almost prefer 'something delicious cassette'
You lost me at rings. But otherwise ILY
Aargh! I accidentally hit thumbs down while trying to get my dumb appletv controller to hit thumbs up!!! I though I corrected it. Like!! :)
