The GT3 is being short shifted by 1000rpm on every shift. It's either someone's personal car they are baby-ing around the course, or it's a sick car. Either way, the GT3 is the last car you want to short shift since all its power is up top.
The speed of the GT3 is surprising, not that I expected it to beat the GTR or Lambo, but compared to the NSX-R. I remember a BMI episode with the 997 Carrera S on a track vs. the NSXR and the C2S was faster, although the NSXR caught up at the end. However, put that against the 997 GT3 which has more grip and basically everything else than a C2S and it should be way faster than the NSXR, yet the NSXR still did a faster lap time
@dt0818 Maybe not the best but even Tsuchiya said the guy driving the 911 TUrbo was braking too hard, obviously the driver isn't attuned to pushing the 911 to the limit so the results arent realistically compared. BM's best driver was behind the wheel of the most driver friendly car ... the GT-R. What does that tell you? I can tell the difference from a car at it's limits, and those 911's are noticeably not. I bet if Tsuchiya were driving the 997 Turbo it would have had better lap times

The NSX, GTR and Gallardo all go to and sometimes into the Redline. The GT3 gets close but seems to have at least 500 more rpm before it would become an issue. If people dont think that matters... they have never been in a real race.
@tonicroatia Thats because Porches are much harder to push to the limit than NSX-R, which is like a go-kart to these drivers, because of them drove the NSX around this track like 200 times, and most of these drivers own NSX's. Also NSX is very light, since it doesnt have any luxury like 911's.
I think the RWD cars had a disadvantage due to the cold weather! You can see snow at the side of the track... The GT3 has semi slicks which are great at optimum temp but if they are cold and on cold surfaces they are worse than normal street tires...

I always get the impression that these guys never give european cars a fair chance ,they always seem very biased as far as comparing japanese cars to european cars goes.
If the NSX had 400HP, it would beat them all. They all have 500HP+, but the NSX is the best considering it only has 290HP but is superlight and aerodynamic.

Fast on the few first laps, then the tires are overheating, transmission too, the engine aswell sometimes.
@2Gtrevo MT r slower than DSG though....so maybe they gt3 lightness and the fact that it's RWD also give it an advantage with straight speed :-)

997 turbo is pre-facelift with 480hp. Newer 997.2 with 500hp with PDK would be faster. 911 still a great car.
