Was there a way SBV could have avoided this crisis? Is the lack of sophistication in the diversification of SBVs investment portfolio the main cause of the bank's failure?
Thank you for this. This is spot on! Simple and straightforward explanations help everyone understand. But I have a question and a request. The question is, what does this failure mean for SVB in the future? Will the bank still be around in December 2023? And within what framework? Please consider doing an extended version of the video with a strong emphasis on start-ups affected by the collapse; you can contextualize American and African start-ups. Thank you very much.
Yes, absolutely! This is a great question, Bernard. Firstly, yes, the bank is under new management (FDIC) and direction, it will more than likely survive. The Startups affected by the collapse, fortunately, did not lose money. This is a result of the speed and efficiency of the government in stepping in to stem the bleeding. This is especially clear given the unprecedented move to insure deposits above $250,000. But SVBs collapse is having an effect on Start-up Funding. The fallout has hit the start-up market as investors pull back further and fear has risen.
Thanks for explanation 👍 much appreciated. Wah!
Excellent and wholistic explanation of SVB collapse. Thank you for explaining very well.
