Solent Ships is operated from Town Quay, the Old Town quarter of Southampton, where the Mayflower departed 400 years ago.
Utilising various cameras our small crew are dedicated in providing a window onto our historic waterfront in the Solent region. The ‘Captain’ of our crew is a licenced drone pilot and day skipper, with an added passion for photography.
This channel has a large library of drone footage, documenting (with commentary) the various vessels that sail by one of the busiest Ports in the UK. At Solent Ships, you can also access 24 hour live streaming video of the day-to-day movements of all shapes and sizes of marine traffic, an ever-changing view that is enjoyed by cruise ship enthusiasts and water watchers worldwide.
The channel is expanding with new camera locations and with regular live commentary and millions of views a month, Solent Ships is the most interactive shipping-based channel on UA-cam. If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe. Arthur Conan Doyle, was married in the church at, Thornton in Lonsdale. Off the A65 in, The Yorkshire Dales, is mother was a parishioner there, and Arthur lived in nearby Ingleton, for a time. Lovely village and church well worth a visit.

Long time student of The Canon, albeit not an Irene nor an Irregular, I do applaud your choice of destinations! The weather here is [to slightly misquote] as miserable as the ways of some of my fellowmen.

Thanks shipmate. I will have to see if I can come up with more interesting destinations during this grey winter.

I have read everything Conan Doyle ever wrote on Sherlock Holmes and in May we are off to Switzerland where a visit to the Reichenbach falls is on the cards. I have been to Baker Street and the small museum there, and yet ... I have never visited Doyles grave. Perhaps I should put that right this summer....

Well shipmate, if you are going to see the Reichenbach Falls, I think you must pop into Minstead to see the grave. If I remember correctly, there is a statue near the falls.

Fantastic video! Unfortunately the house ACD lived in here in Southsea, was damaged during the Second World War, so was demolished, there are flats there now but it does have a blue plaque. He was goal keeper for the club before this one - the current club was founded a short time later. I believe he also played cricket!

I did have a look shipmate, but you are correct, there isn't much left in Portsmouth where he lived and worked. Seems like he was a skilled sportsman as well.
