As an overweight person, I can genuinely say that I am fat phobic. I look at people who are bigger than me and say to my boyfriend, “please don’t let me get that big.” I don’t ever want to put him in a position where he has to take care of me because I let myself go. I also want to enjoy life with him and be able to do things and not struggle with basic stuff. Which is why I currently go to the gym. I spent 4 months watching my mom wither away in a hospital and die. Could have possibly been avoided if she wasn’t overweight. I’m not going down that road if I can help it.
I'm the same way. I was thin until my late 40s. My weight crept up over years. 2019 I lost the weight. 60 lbs. Then, got sent home to work due to covid. And the extra weight didn't take as long to come back. It's a struggle, but it's worth it. Keep going.
I to was over weight and sick trust me when I say fasting, not to starve your self but to lower you insulin resistance that help turn every thing you eat to fat worked better than every thing I ever did dont take pills its all crap the keto seemed to help for a bit but it was the change in your body chemistry that made most of the difference and a bit or walking I found a tv on the tread mill playing virtual walking tours made a world of difference Ive walked all over the world this way be strong you can do it start slow accept you may fall but get back up start with 8 hrs 16 hr no food move to 8 hr 36 hrs over time it gets easier as you stomach shrinks
Been fat phobic since 01/01/23 . Lost 95lbs so far and I am not gonna be ashamed about it . If being fatphobic means changing my life for the better to have a long, healthy life with many adventures and not being out of breath after 10 mins then I am proud to be one ⭐️
@@allyverl stairs were the worst for me back then. I would be so exhausted after 1 flight of it. That’s when I knew I had to make a change before it was to late for me. So I enjoyed my holiday foods and the second it became midnight on 01/01/23 my mind was focused 💖. And thank you so much and I honestly feel a lot happier and way more energetic now where I barely like to sit and my feet don’t hurt anymore when walking more than an hour. People who are happy being severally overweight are lying to themselves and once they get older most will regret not doing something about it sooner. Just 15-20lbs more to go to get to my healthy dream weight 💖
As a fat woman lol 😂 and who has lost 40 pounds so far and has a trainer … I’ve gotten so much support from the skinny people at the gym they cheer me on!!! I love my trainer she supports me and pushes me… fat girls rise up and workout it feels great!!!
Good for you!! These people probably don’t even go to the drs to check their blood work and their cholesterol and all. they’re probably all diabetic and don’t even know it..
I had to do “obesity sensitivity training” (I’m a nurse) and in the post test they asked a true or false question, “it is okay to tell a patient they should consider losing weight”. The answer was false. I’m sorry, but if you’re over 300lbs and seeing me in the emergency room for health issues, then you need to lose weight. It’s not responsible for me to pretend that’s not an issue.
The problem is there's an assumption you're suggesting someone lose weight in a derogatory or otherwise insulting way instead of making a clinical observation and suggestion. I think people really need to take a step back and take into perspective WHO is saying "you should lose weight." If a doctor or nurse suggests this, chances are its to help you health-wise, not to insult you or make you feel bad.
@@MikeTXBC exactly. I’m not trying to be judgmental or mean when I make suggestions. My goal is to get people in shape to get out of the hospital, and empower them to stay out of it. That’s it.
@@rikmcdik6662 yep my mates brother is a doctor and said half of his patients would have no problems if they lost weight, he tries to tell them but they get very defensive no matter how he says it, then of course there’s always other people without medical knowledge who use the thyroid excuse to defend fat people, which is a real condition but rare
I think I am fat phobic, in a way I don’t want to be fat. I find it ugly and imagining being lazy and without boundaries. I guess, boundaries are great then
As a chubby mf myself, telling other people that wanna improve themselves that their fat phobic is such bullshit, like when I see someone working out online I don’t yell at them for being “fat phobic” I’m happy for them, because their working to improve themselves. Don’t get me wrong self love is important but self improvement is even more valuable
And notice how jealous they get when someone especially a celebrity loses weight, like Adele or Rebel Wilson, they call them a traitor as if the more fat people there are they more they’ll be accepted
I am 14 years old and have been working on loosing weight and fighting against normalizing childhood obesity i was pushing 300lbs and have lost 3lbs so far in only 2 weeks. If a 14 year old can fight against her own food addiction so can you. Put in the work and make a change instead of making everyone bend a knee for you and expecting the world to change for you. :]
That and people who want others to accept their crippling health problems, so they won't have to put in any effort in changing themselves for their own health benefits.
Body Positivity is just an excuse to not exercise or eat properly. As I entered middle age and had gained about 25 lbs over my weight in my 20’s, I took a good look at myself and F this. Now the last 5 years I eat super healthy and ride a bike constantly, and I dropped 20 lbs. I feel so much better physically and mentally, and to be honest I mainly did it because I want to live well past 80, and being overweight is the main reason life expectancies are dropping in the US during descent years. The delusional notion that being heavy is ok is just hurting yourself and you will pay a price
I was once dating a heavy girl and she was complaining about her weight, but then got offended when I told her that I would support, help, and motivate her if she wanted to start going to the gym with me.
@@RoseStorm336 She told me she was tired of being unhealthy and getting tired so easily. What the hell was I supposed to say? “I like you better unfit and easily winded” ? She even told me she knew she had to lose weight for her health.
Honestly as someone who went from being 240 to 160 I can understand her struggle. Deep in your mind you understand what you're doing wrong and how to fix it. You just do not want to accept that. Once you do and you start your journey it's so much better. I've never felt more agile. @@acerune8378
Im a bigger woman, (i am going gym and eating better now) I WISH my boyfriend would come to the Gym with me ahhaa or even walk the dog with me! I am so much more motivated when I'm not alone!
i would love a guy who would support, motivate, and would go to the gym to me! it's not a bad thing to want to improve themselves and live a healthier life, how can that girl not want that and get offended??
@@saltybeanstalk The right man’s out there for you somewhere. The important thing is not to look at it as “I would be more attractive if I did this” that generates poor self esteem and you become unmotivated when you don’t notice results right away. It’s better to look at it as “I would be a healthier person, capable of doing new activities and live longer if I do this”
That’s the thing. Everyone at my gym is friendly, there’s a 70 year old man who just started going to our gym recently for the first time in his life, cause he wants to work on himself. My Grandad just retired, and he’s not fat, but he’s a little bit overweight. Now he’s retired, he goes to the gym with me on a weekly basis.
And take selfies of our ass and complain when people look at us. Gym culture is not great, its retarded too its like working out in a stripclub sometimes
Everyone knows we’re trying to better ourselves so they give encouragement, there’s a few young posing lads at ours but everyone subtly chuckles at them filming themselves in the mirror half the time
Yes, I would take that labeled proudly because why? should I be part of a statics that is killing black American in high rates of obesity related diseases, I refuse to play blind sheep and walk in the green valley of hunger wolves, they might get some but, can't get all of us.
When I was 14-16 years old, I was at my heaviest (145 kilograms). I did not work my ass off for over a year and lose 64 kilograms for people to accuse me of being a bigot. My family is extremely susceptible to type 2 diabetes as well as heart diseases, so for me, it was either have diabetes and heart failure or lose weight. I chose life and now people are bitching at me to be fat.
I think the point they're fixating on is that the fat people cease to be fat people, and thus, they've lost a team member. I don't think it's altruism, I think it's zealotry.
As someone who is not from America I can honestly say my opinion on and desire to go to America has drastically decreased continuously just within the last decade. When I was a child I thought America was cool and exciting. But now it’s like damn the land of the most sensitive, unrealistic, and twisted mindsets. I hope more people like Brett speak out and fix that increasingly vulnerable country before it’s too late..
I think it's the high school Musical effect. As a child we saw movies like that I thought "I want to go/live there" and now as an adult....we get suckerpunched by the truth.
the most attractive part of dating my overweight girlfriend is that she wants to lose weight and hits the gym with me every day and yells at me when I try to take her out to dinner instead of allowing her to cook a proper meal that meets her diet needs. she's lost 100 lbs and is on track to lose another 50 to be at the appropriate weight for her height. I'm happy to help her acheive her goal and am encouraged by her effort towards her goal. it makes her attractive to know she wants to improve every day.
I literally was born skinny because of a heart problem I have. Is that considered fat phobic? My sister actually heard a girl in her class say, “I don’t like skinny people.” And then, “no offense.” I can’t change how I was born, I have been skinny my whole life processed foods or not. Well,I can’t change other people’s minds, but I can wish everyone a great day or night!
It's disappointing to see people making fun of fitness, as taking care of our health is so important. Let's continue to prioritize our health and ignore those who try to bring us down.
Let natural selection do its part. It’ll only be a matter of time before the McDonalds/Potato Chips/Taco Bell diet catches up to these weirdos and they end up suffering because of it.
Thank you Brett. You are a breath of fresh air for us "older folks". As a formerly morbidly obese man , I often though people thought less of me because I was fat. Every health issue I had (and still have) was cause by obesity. Due to my weight I've had 2 knee replacements and at age 66, I needed a hip replacement. Weighing over 350 pounds, I was told by my surgeon that I needed to lose at least 50 pounds before I could have the hip surgery. I found a weight loss program that worked well for me. I dropped the 50 pounds and scheduled his hip replacement. After having to use a walker just to get around the house, I was able to walk (petty normally) and exercise for the first time in years. I have now lost around 150 pounds and kept it off. I feel better now that I did in my 40s. I will soon be 70. My diabetes which had been diagnosed over 20 years ago is well under control. I was using an insulin pump (with U-500 insulin) to try to control it but after loosing the weight I no longer use insulin or take oral medication. I believe that is miraculous. I walk every day the weather allows (3 to 4 miles) and feel physically, and emotionally amazing. If losing weight and improving my quality of life in "fat phobic" or make me a white supremacist; so be it. I'm never going back.
Incredible! Very inspiring story :) . I’m a PT in a gym and it’s the best feeling seeing people make improvements through physical activities and then all their ailments just disappearing. Thank you for making such an amazing change in your life 😊
I hate it when people say “You’re beautiful just the way you are.” Like, I know you want to be nice but sometimes you gotta tell the truth. Even if it hurts. If being obese is beautiful, why won’t they be obese themselves. Ngl I’m fat but I don’t think it’s beautiful. I want to improve of course, so why do people try to stop us?
I'm Nigerian, and every time I see or read stories like these, I'm thankful I don't live in the Western world. The stupidity of some of these people stuns me.
Well, to be fair, the US is an entire different world. Over here in Europe we see this as a bunch of bullshit, only some girls that are influenced by American media may be this way. The west is not just the US, feel free to travel around the EU! (although some countries have some amounts of racism, I wouldn't recommend going to slavic countries, I am Greek and I would gladly welcome you, but we have some biased people)
UK here. My family is Indian. Our home culture has absolutely none of what the west does (these made-up phobias, allergies, gender bending idiocy) and yet, I see it spreading here to the UK as well. It's like a disease that spreads through contact with social media.
I’m 69 and work out an hour and a half to two hours a day at the gym, I feel great, I can bend down easily and physical activity comes easy and that was my goal, to have quality of life in my older years.
I’m 14 and was called fat phobic by a girl in my grade who is over weight. The reason? Because last summer I weighted 175 pounds and I lost weight over the summer to achieve my goal of 130 pounds. I know it’s bad to worry about your weight when you’re barely a teen but people at school bullied me for how I looked when I was 175 and bullied me still after I lost the weight…this generation is trash
More than likely, this girl was projecting her own insecurities. Congratulations on taking your health in your own hands. That is an awesome and very mature thing to do at your age. Keep it up!
unironically yes, the main reason i work out is because i never want to get fat (with all the issues that comes with). so i guess that i am, by definition, fatphobic xD i don't care about other people or their life choices unless they are a part of mine though
I have reached a point where any sort of "phobic" I get called, I add it to a colection of medals of honour Im "homophobic"...yet I am dating a boy..as a boy myself Im "racist"... yet I am an immigrant Im "fat phobic".. yet I used to be fat, but now im loosing weight and going to the gym. These thinga don't stop me, hell they make me more willing to continue
Goggins said it best about being honest and upfront with people who are overwight: "I'd rather you hate me and get better, than stay the same and like me."
Same. My kids and I are labeled as FTT. One of my kids has a rare duplication and the other an ED, so it's not something they can help. But someone complains about the pediasure they need or appetite stimulant or feeding therapy and I'm like why the fuck do you care. You don't pay for them and their health. Being underweight is just as dangerous but everyone ignores that too.
In that case being fat is fitphobic someone legit told be i hated skinny people since im trying to gain weight and exercise alot people don't care about making themselves better so they try and drag you down with them. (most people in my school exercise and better themselves)
Britishtani YT That first statement is amazing! We need to start flooding comments sections and create memes with that. Just think of the potential "Fat-phobic vs fit-phobic" memes.
my parents really try to feed us healthy food however some nights they are too tired from work to make dinner and we tend to eat out on those nights or just leftovers. They are amazing parents who understand that kids need a healthy diet from a young age and also realize that we all can't be perfect
I swear “white supremacy”, “patriarchy”, “fatphobic”, “modern audience”, “representation” just lost their meanings. Hearing any of these words makes me roll my eyes so deep I can feel lucky I still have a brain to look at.
As a ex “fat person” I’m still curvy but not nearly as big as I was (roughly 70-80lbs down) and I’m EMBARRASSED to look back at old photos before my fitness journey and I still have another 50-65lbs to go guess I’m fatphobic against myself LMAO
I am a woman of color, and I am faithfully in the gym watching my diet cause being healthy is more of a situation that’s better for you as a person. At this point people have gone mad they’re delusional with this stuff.
Good. Because the health statistics for obese black women in America are scary. And that's where the woke rantings and ravings of these TikTok warriors become dangerous. The black American community has high rates of cardiovascular disease and other health problems that are worsened by obesity-- and black obesity rates are, despite what the black lady said, the highest in the country. This is a life or death issue. Responsible black Americans should be doing everything to promote fresh fruit and vegetables and regular exercise.
Bruh you tend to have higher metabolism than a caucasian lol. The people of the video don’t know anything like is shameful. Like seriously, do they just say their name and get the career title lol.
Im 26, 266lbs and diabetes and high blood pressure runs in my family. My docotor told me that im pre diabetic and to work on my eating habits a weight. I was 280lbs at the time she told me that. Working out and changing eating habits isn't fat phobic, its called health
As a member of the fat I give everyone permission to workout and lose as much fat as they want. Go get those gains and while you are at it don't forget to pick up your free fatphobia pass. Have a great day!
This is literally the thing the red pilled me and was the start of my leaving the left journey. I had an eating disorder so I was apart of the body positive community. For my recovery finding a healthy balance with diet and exercise was really important and I valued health a lot, and obviously still do. I was called fatphobic, rasict, and ableist in those communities I'd been a part of for so long just because I spoke about how I thought fitness was important. That's when I started to see the cracks in a lot of leftist ideology. So congratulations, they played themselves because I was a raging liberal until this incident made me question and look more into all of it.
I was diagnosed with a kidney disease when I was 11. I got put on Prednisone and gained so much weight over three years. I hated myself and my self-confidence was shot. Throughout the years I would lose very little weight. Eventually I got Type 2 Diabetes. I did not take care of myself very well. I finally joined a gym and that was pretty much it. Fast forward to today, I have been going back after work for at least four weeks and lost at least 12 pounds and I feel great. I'm gaining muscle steadily and losing fat steadily. To quote Forrest Gump, "that's all I have to say about that."
Prolonged exposure to Prednisone can cause diabetes. I refuse to be put on it anymore because of this. I gained 70lbs in 3 months when my doctor put me on it and then she looks at my chart and goes, "Oops, we need to get you a diabetes test." and then why. That was in 2002. Keep going on your weight loss! That's great! And I bet you're starting to feel a lot better... keep going! ♥
@Nationalist Canuck Wow, it's almost like you think they self-prescribed themselves some prednisone... We put our trust into our health care "professionals" to find medications, procedures, surgeries, or cures that will extend our lives and create healthy outcomes. But sometimes, these drug therapies can have horrible side effects, which lead to a worsening of health which is when you have to weigh the benefits vs. the outcome. And was there and alternative medication the doctor could have prescribed to not push the body into diabetes? We have to research our conditions, ask questions, and take control of our own Healthcare.
If this is being fatphobic, so be it. Exercise literally brings so much joy into your life as well as health… it’s just an added bonus. I love feeling strong and running around playing sports. These people who complain about “fatphobia” obviously have sad lives.
I'm 5' 9" and was 195 a month and a half ago. I have quit pot and I am now in the 183-185 range and am much happier and feel better about myself. I still have about 10-15 pounds to lose and am excited to. I can feel my depression easing as I get into better shape. I personally think a fear of being fat is a good thing, and being a healthier individual is the best way to deal with mental illness.
If weak minded people want to label me as fat phobic for putting my health first for the first time in my life that’s fine by me. I was 215lbs, I was fat and felt like crap. Got my shit straight and lost 55+ pounds in 3 months, now I’m into bodybuilding and have add 10+ pounds of muscle mass. It’s not impossible, you just have to break through the mental wall to do what is necessary to be healthier. If you are in the process of getting your health on track, I’m proud of you! Don’t let anyone tell you that’s a bad thing! You’re doing awesome and don’t give up!
as a teen living in Asia, I'm 20kg over weight. and I have been slowly trying to lose it as its hard to be fat in a place that's hot and humid all year round and that it's hard to find fashionable clothes, and I lost 4kg within a month, hope to drop to around 65 kg
I’ve recently started working out (mostly cause my dad and brother do it) and I’ve actually been feeling great lol. After six weeks it literally feels addictive and I’ve been wanting to work out every day. It’s good for your heart, it’s good for your brain, and it makes you feel energized. I can’t understand why people advocate for treating their body like a trash can
I’m glad Brett brought up the real history of weight. Throughout the majority of human history in nearly every culture, [even still today in many places] “fatness” was wanted and highly sought after. This was a sign of your high social status, your wealth, and your health. Someone with fat was well off, having plenty to eat, being well nourished, and not having to work themselves to the bone physically. Throughout most of humanity’s history, skinny was unwanted, shameful, and a sign of poverty. Fatness was highly regarded and praised. I believe there is a balance between these. Each individual should be left responsible for their own body. One should know how to care for their body according to it’s own unique nature. Everyone will look different - we should all just strive to maintain health for our own good. Just be accountable to yourself in the way you treat your body. Each individual’s body will have it’s own parameters for what is healthy - we each need to find that perfect balance of not “too light” or “too heavy”, as each comes with bad health risks when taken too far.
Everything is way more based on classism, including skin color. If you had to get dark by working out of doors, being light was a sign of wealth. If it is cheaper to be fat, skinny is wealth. Race is not the freaking bias.
The most mind-blowing assertion was that 'Enlightenment-era belief that fatness was linked to savagery'. Yeah...I'm sure that stone-age people whom the label 'savage' was typically applied to were mostly a bunch of chonkers. The American Indians, Africans, various South American tribes...nothing like a hunter-gatherer or subsistence farmer lifestyle to give groups of people the caloric excess and sedentary lifestyle that allows for getting fat.
The difference is that being too thin is rightly seen as being unhealthy. The fashion industry has been rightly taken to task for its promotion of unnatural thinness. But for some reason, one of the most dangerous physical conditions heavily linked with early death is just as healthy as being within the normal range of weights, and you're a bigot if you put health outcomes ahead of political correctness? FOH.
It's at the point where if these are the definitions of "fatphobia", I'm almost willling to just say "sure, I guess I am". I've played sports my whole life, and would never have gotten a sniff in my life if I didn't work out and work hard to stay in shape. It's improved my mental health so much, made me more confident and even given me the mental strength to put myself out there socially more. Working out is an amazing thing and no one should ever feel shamed to start it. The last thing we need is people who are just starting/want to start but are nervous to, to feel more nervous about it because of online labels
As someone who was 320 pounds at 16 years old and is now 180 pounds at 18 there is something some people need to know when trying to get a person to lose weight: 1. Do not bully them- I was called fatass lardass spherical mirical you name it that is not how you get someone to lose weight that makes them ashamed of themselves in general and could probably drive them to suicide. 2. Do not just wait until they decide to lose weight- that is not how it worked for me or anyone I know what drove me to lose weight was because I saw someone who had been where I was and was going. I lost my grandfather when he was 82 years old he was always fat like I was and I loved him I lost him at 13 due to a heart attack but I just assumed he would have died from something else anyway because he was very old and had many other health problems but when I was around 15 I heard from my grandma that he was most likely going to die about 15 years before he did and that just broke me because I could not imagine not having my grandpa in my life then when I got my first job I met a 25 year old who said he used to be 645 pounds then got down to 180 and I asked him what it was like to live feel and do daily functions at that size he looked at me dead in the eyes and said PAINFUL he said he couldn’t fit in a stand up shower and had to wash himself in the garage with a garden hose and showed me pictures of him and his medical records and I was shocked even though he’s lost a lot of weight thanks to medicine surgery and therapy he still has health problems he guided me on how to lose weight and I will be forever thankful for him what needs to be done about obesity is you need to have a former 400 plus pound person speak to kids personaly and guide them to take challenges and do better when I got into college after losing weight I got my first girlfriend and I love her to death best challenge I ever took was to lose weight if you have a friend who is fat encourage but do not bully them to lose weight have them meet someone like i did and encourage them to take challenges and better themselves
@Cheesus Christ Quite a few of them do, especially the friendship group I used to be in. I’m currently at home now and have been for the last few months due to medical reasons and anxiety, which was caused by bullying. So as of late I’m not dealing with it, but yes, unfortunately a lot of people take it seriously. 😕
Yeah! People often say “oh but I can’t help it”, but the thing is, the majority of people who are overweight *can* help it. They just use the few people that can’t to get them out of becoming fit. And they were saying “it takes a toll on my mental and physical health”. Firstly, if the reason that people are being treated badly is because they are fat, then they should just try and get healthier.
Thank you!! I have tried losing my excess weight for over 10 years, after I gained 50 kg (around 100 pounds) because a stupid medication. But because of medical reasons, mainly mental ones that cause me to use medications, I have tried over and over. I also gain like 7 kg in fluids overnight during PMS. It SUCKS and I'm so angry when people choose to be that way. I would do anything to get rid of this.
@@optimised120 Exactly!!! Look at people like nikoado avacado. They CAN help it. It is unhealthy for them and can have a big impact on ur life. They could be hospitalised for it. And when we try to help, they bring up the my body my choice.
I have a thing where my bone age is two years younger than my actual age. So starting highschool i looked like i was 12 and was also short and overweight (not obese) and it made me shy even though im an outgoing person. After sophomore year i started wanting to make a change so i downloaded an app and started keeping track of my calories, exercise, water, fats, sodium etc. and realized how bad the food was that i was eating. i slowly started lowering my calorie intake and created a work out schedule for myself. now i am in the middle of my senior year and have gotten stronger, grown taller, lost weight and fat (im now in the normal-underweight category), and active and i feel so much better for it.
This is insane. I'm currently a little fat after laying around for the last 4 months due to a broken back/spine, but I'm about to start going to the gym again. I'm sure I'll be getting better quicker with less weight on.
@he was slipped and fell on a patch of ice at the Flying J truck stop in Rawlins Wyoming, late December. Just before Christmas actually. It didn't feel too bad the first day afterwards, but the second day I woke up and could barely move, with the worst lightning pains I've ever felt. Ended up being mostly paralyzed for near 3 whole months, and I've been getting mobile the last month or so. Not sure if I'll need surgery, but I have to get working again because I won't be able to pay off my E.R. bills otherwise. Lived my whole life without health insurance, and now it's coming back to bite me. 😂
I watched a video about the exact opposite of this earlier. A happy and healthy woman in her 70's who's a fitness coach. She was beautiful even as a grandmother and will probably outlive us all.
It's crazy how people tie everything back into like racism, sexism, the patriarchy, etc. Personally I have always had a weight issue ever since I got put on medication for anxiety. Turns out not being nauseous a majority of the time makes you gain weight (don't feel sick so I can eat). I was never into gyms I only used the school gym when we were forced to do that and I believe I just used the stationary bike... plus I have social anxiety so I don't like being watched but also I tend to watch other people do stuff. Being overweight is super bad for you effecting both your physical and mental health. Overall I find skinnier people more attractive then fat people, it doesn't matter what race you are there is just a point where weight takes away from your beauty. Also why would I want someone in my life at the same or more weight then me if I want to lose weight and they'll probably bring along their bad diet not wanting to change.
@Amar K think they are talking about the gym atmosphere, and some anxiety about being watched while working out. I can say with certainty that most people are willing to assist and be supportive or just don't care enough to notice you.
most people don't look at you while in the gym. maybe a glance and then they move on and some people watch you maybe for a little longer, if they are waiting to use the machine you are occupying.
As someone with anorexia, I can't even count how many videos I've seen calling us fatphobic. Having an ED isn't fatphobic People working out to maintain a healthy figure isn't either. How do people come up with this stuff?
I feel like i’m not fatphobic as i have never called someone out / bullied someone just because they’re fat. But as a former fat kid, i would not want to go back to being fat, hence why I tried to have a better lifestyle now. Being fit feels so much better, and i’m happier than I was before.
I weigh over 300 pounds. I am not 'fatphobic'. This isn't because I share in their beliefs, but because I understand what a phobia is. It's an irrational fear. I cannot be irrationally afraid of being fat because it will literally kill me, so the fear is 100% rational. I also don't plan to do anything about it, but knowing that it could trigger some libs may be the biggest motivator I've heard.
@@Smallflash_892 Anorexia is an extreme case of irrational fear of becoming fat. Anorexia is one of the only cases where one could logically say that "fat phobia" is real. Too bad that "Fat Phobia" these days just means "you hate us fatties!"
As a cna I work in a rehab some of my residents are 400+ lbs it becomes such a burden on others when your that big. You should all see how sad a life it is living in a long term care facility cause you can’t stand up, you can’t wipe your own ass. We should all have a phobia of that.
When my sister was in med school and doing her rotations she said there were some people that were so overweight that they couldn’t weigh them at the hospital. They would have to send them to local zoo. Definitely worth having a phobia.
They always say, "Their body, their choice" they can do anything with their body. But when someone says, "I want to go to the gym and get into " they scream like they're being attacked.
I suffer from a cronic disease and due to that I gained alot of weight and got made fun of in 6 and 7th grade. Now I am in the 11th grade and I am one of the most athletic and tone people in my year. Me losing that wait and starting working out made my life so much better and gave me a structure. So I dont see why I am fat phobic, because I want to be healthy and feel better lean than overweight
I have lost 100lbs exercising. My health has drastically improved. If living a healthy and fit lifestyle makes me Fatphobic then i might as well own it. FAT-PHOBIC FOREVER! where my FatPhobs at? ✋🏻😁
I can confirm as someone who's lost weight that working out only made me feel better!! I could wear new clothes without being afraid of wearing fitted clothes, and progress on a new level of strength, it even ridded me of some of my depressing thoughts. Moving gets the happy hormone kickin!
I’m exasperated by current societal issues - it’s very first world, you have too much time in your hands type of issues. If you’re overweight and unhealthy you’re more likely depressed and insecure. It’s not everyone else’s responsibility to make you feel comfortable about yourself. The world doesn’t revolve around you. There are more important things to expend your energy on.
As a fat woman who has had a heart attack at 48 yrs of age, I will /own/ my Fat Phobia. I do /NOT/ want to go through that experience again. It was not pleasant. It scared my son, and my husband, and worried the rest of my family. If not wanting to experience another heart attack makes me fat phobic, then I will own that. I was 333 lbs 4 years ago. I'm still over 300 lbs, but the weight is slowly coming down. I'm now able to walk every day (weather permitting) and I have to say that feels Great! Also, literally none of what those idiots on tiktok were saying made any kind of sense. Fat for the longest time, as Brett said was seen as a display of Wealth. A way to say, 'Look at me. See how wealthy I am? I don't have to work for /anything/.' No, weight was a socio-economic thing, then we learned. Obesity is /bad/. Obese people (remember I am a short, fat, curvy girl) are /not/ healthy. There is no such thing as 'healthy at any weight'. That is a load of BS fat, lazy people feed themselves to feel better about themselves being fat and lazy. All y'all out there that are fat, lazy, and sayin' y'er 'healthy at any weight' need to wake up and drop the lbs. If for no other reason than to not cost y'er loved ones monies that they don't need to pay on y'er funeral. The heavier you are when you die, the more expensive the funeral expenses become. If you can't love yourself enough to be healthy, love your family enough to be enough less unhealthy that when you die from your lifestyle, you're not bankrupting them.
I had a similar experience. Im changing my life after a trip to the emergency room because of my being fat. You keep on going and dont let anyone tell you that you shouldn't try to be healthier
You got this. Keep working out! There are some great walking workouts on UA-cam for those days you can't get outside. Grow With Jo and Yana Fit are two good channels.
It's not just losing common sense. It's direct denial of the truth and intimidation and bullying of those who reject this. Best exemplified by the plague of transgender ideological extremism on the reality of biological sex.
I’m Asian .. I’m overweight .. and I believe in going to the gym and working out and losing weight to my IDEAL HEALTHY weight. We buried my friend because he suffered a heart attack overnight from careless eating and not TAKING care of his health. This WILL bring FAT PHOBIA when you realize you are cutting your life in half by not caring about your body. BTW - Phobia means uncontrollable FEAR .. it does not mean JUDGEMENT or OPINIONATED. So crazy .. this is my first time hearing about this … maybe because me and my family do workout everyday in the gym .. even IF I DON’T look like a Fitness Model .. going to the gym is essential in mine, my husband’s AND most importantly my SONS’ LIVES.
I’m tired of this skinny phobic mentality because I can’t control my body. I can’t get fat I’ve been trying. But I can’t get fat and shamed I’m tired of being made fun of for being skinny.
I really appreciated the fact that clothing brands started displaying their designs on healthy and average weight people and not just super skinny models, but now its starting to get out of hand.
This is the equivalent of “if you kiss your girlfriend, you are gay. She has kissed other men before and you in turn are kissing men by second hand contact”
I am an obese nearly 50 year old man. I have been overweight since I was about 9 or 10 years old. Obese since about 18-19. I go to the gym nearly 5 or six days a week. Not because I am trying to achieve a gym bod, or trying to become a body builder. But I go to the gym for three reasons. 1, heart disease and diabetes runs in my family. "A" solution to combating these is a good, healthy diet which includes cardio, and regular exercise. 2, I now work in a physically job and I need to be able to do everything required in my job. The day I cannot physically lift/carry something heavy is the day I will likely be out of a job. Going to the gym regularly helps me keep my body strong and able to doo all of the things that are required of me. 3, unlike my own grandparents, I wanted to be able to actually do things with my own grandkids.
Even in this modern age, there are so many people fighting for basic human rights across the world and here we have toxic people refusing to believe that their lifestyles are unhealthy.
Love how they don't want people to judge them because of their weight. Then turn around and call people who want to keep themselves at a weight they feel better about,as being a person attacking overweight by being a lower weight.Blaming slimmer people for attacking their weight by not being like them.
So long as you aren't abusing fat people, fat phobia is okay and even good to have. My brother was obese but has lost over 70 pounds and is officially just overweight, and it is the happiest I've ever seen him.
@@nationalistcanuck7800 Here's an example. You see an obese person walking into a restaurant and laugh at them. That's abuse. You make fun of them to their face. That is abuse. You treat someone as less than because you feel superior to them based on their weight. That is abuse. It's not hard to "define abuse".
As someone who grew up being the fat/chunky kid who got picked on by other kids and even my father (I'm in my early 40s now), I take my health pretty seriously. Also being a veteran gave me the structure and discipline to keep up with my fitness as I got older. These people saying physical fitness is a form of white supremacy are freaking insane and need to be committed to an asylum.
I have no issue saying I don’t wanna be fat. I have 4 obese siblings. Love them but I’m not fat and you can change your life to live longer. It’s not fat phobic. It’s called real life.
Translation: I am too lazy, lacking self control and discipline to take care of the only body I have, so others must do like I do in order for me to feel good about my unhealthy lifestyle.
I guess I’m fatphobic then. After having three kids, I gained 60(!!!) pounds and guess what? The extra chub is significantly more uncomfortable than some rando calling me a name. And yes, I’ve lost forty pounds with twenty more to go- I feel a hell of a lot better and can’t wait to lose the rest of the weight.

I got told to do that I wasn't offending cuz I already know
The problem is there's an assumption you're suggesting someone lose weight in a derogatory or otherwise insulting way instead of making a clinical observation and suggestion. I think people really need to take a step back and take into perspective WHO is saying "you should lose weight." If a doctor or nurse suggests this, chances are its to help you health-wise, not to insult you or make you feel bad.

Losing weight is RACIST?! You should have asked them, "Just what isn;t racist with you?!"
Welcome aboard!! You're gonna like it here
I was diagnosed with a kidney disease when I was 11.
Prednisone? You just destroyed your body.

Got my shit straight and lost 55+ pounds in 3 months, now I’m into bodybuilding and have add 10+ pounds of muscle mass. After six weeks it literally feels addictive and I’ve been wanting to work out every day. It’s good for your heart, it’s good for your brain, and it makes you feel energized. I can’t understand why people advocate for treating their body like a trash can
Good for you, Cindy.
As someone who was 320 pounds at 16 years old and is now 180 pounds at 18 there is something some people need to know when trying to get a person to lose weight:

Why are people shaming people for working out, you dont see them shaming you for being fat 💀
Also why would I want someone in my life at the same or more weight then me if I want to lose weight and they'll probably bring along their bad diet not wanting to change.
what do you mean by this, particularly the latter part? "I don't like being watched but also I tend to watch other people do stuff"
@Amar K think they are talking about the gym atmosphere, and some anxiety about being watched while working out. I can say with certainty that most people are willing to assist and be supportive or just don't care enough to notice you.
its crazy that they are under the delusion that being phat-phobic originates from the US, as if the US is the only country in the world
most people don't look at you while in the gym. maybe a glance and then they move on and some people watch you maybe for a little longer, if they are waiting to use the machine you are occupying.

Yup , they’re 100% right , it’s definitely fat phobic, why else do you think I workout 4-6 days a week so I won’t get winded wiping my own @$$.
Wow ... they'll say or do just about anything to avoid going to the gym.
Exactly!
I have no issue saying I don’t wanna be fat. I have 4 obese siblings. Love them but I’m not fat and you can change your life to live longer. It’s not fat phobic. It’s called real life.
Four obese siblings. Bloody hell. I've had my weight issues, but obesity is frightening.
Just the mental gymnastics it takes to follow their logic made me lose 5 pounds.
really though
Being fat is about slavery? How many fat slaves were there in America, or anywhere else for that matter.
as a black skinny person, does the lady call me racist against my own race for being skinny
It’s also hilarious that many of these fatphobia-name-callers are thin themselves.
I've lost 40lbs too! We fatphobes gotta stick together. Way to go!
@@madeleine8274 Congratulations! It is hard to lose weight. Our bodies are like, "Oh, you must be experiencing a famine! Imma' help you out by adjusting your metabolism, have fun holding onto all of those resources your body needs!" Meanwhile I'm just trying to liberate myself from my FUPA. Arg. But it IS physically uncomfortable having the extra weight. Having rolls, skin touching skin, etc. People have legitimate reasons for wanting to lose weight, and being attractive is one of them.
@@nothinglikeburntvag haha I totally feel you! I don't judge too hard on motivations for losing weight. Anything that gets you to actually do it and do it healthily is a win to me
Same here. Just had my second baby. I gained too much weight and I was at my highest after my first born. I don’t want to go back to that again so I’m working hard not to get back up there! 😅
