If you need proof of how amazing this player community is just hang out by the prize wheel in the underground around 3am everyone naturally lines up and waits their turn to spin the wheel. I'm ridiculously excited. I remember playing FreeRealms and keeping up with the games Daybreak did, and they did amazingly with the social aspects of FreeRealms alone before it shut down, along with housing and other things. Dude, being in the discord after the news dropped was wild! I don't know a thing about Daybreak so ngl all the people being doom and gloom in there got me super worried about the future of Palia. This video is a bit reassuring. I just hope the premium shop prices won't go up cause everything is already stupid expensive as it is. For me, most of the outfits cost anywhere between $20cad to over $50cad for *a single outfit*. I let imagine the prices for those bundles 😬 There's a couple cheap bundles that come out as $20 to $30cad, but there's only about 2 or 3, the rest is expensive.

I'm scared, but hopeful. I just got my mom a switch lite last night, and woke to this news. I got it so she could play Palia with me, so I'm concerned its gonna tank. She is still learning, she keeps wanting to only use the movement and not the camera too, so its taking some getting used to for her to use both hands. Also she keeps wanting to hold the switch with 1 hand and press A with her finger, instead of using her thumb. 😅 She'll get there. Hopefully the game doesnt become pay to win.

I am fairly new and I don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing. I just wanted to buy something in their premium store and now I am a bit hesitant.
The prices for very basic outfits are way to high and I would like to see them diversifying their products so low income players have something nice too.
I mean if they need a 20 Dollar outfit in the store, let them but a basic outfit with a backpack should be around 5 Dollar.
Over time players would pay more into the game if they can buy a small thing every month.
With the new ownership they have to give a clearer road map for the game and the monetization.

This allows them to get into different tax brackets, get better deals for insurance from healthcare companies, fund an ESOP or 401k for their employees, put more $$$ into the company bank accounts (think: everything new coming in cash can backfill what was spent in the purchase) and then once they make back their $$$ the rest is all profit. They can then give raises to their employees (but mostly just executives, everybody else gets the standard 3% or less). Oh yes and also get better credit deals for loans and other things. It is rarely about shutting down competition, mostly it's about making money.

I hope this means that the development will get a lot more support and will be able to make Palia into a much larger game. I’m honestly super worried. I was afraid this was going to happen 😢. Daybreak destroyed EQ Next Landmark!!!! I never loved another game quite like that one and many other people loved it too. Daybreak made it so it no longer was going to be free to play, made everyone who purchased access to beta pay again. They fired everyone on Sony’s team that made Landmark so wonderful. Afterwards, they released new cosmetics in the store and after a month or so of collecting money they’ve erased and killed the game and now no one can ever play it again. I do hope that with the new owners Daybreak has changed for the better🤞🏻

Furniture wouldn’t be PTW. Pay to win means let’s say.. buying bundles of iron or ingredients etc that actually affect things, or locking quests behind paid walls. Stuff that affects gameplay, basically. Cosmetics (furniture and clothing) isn’t pay to win because it’s aesthetic additions without having an actual affect on your gameplay. I hope that helps!
A good way of explaining: if Palia had combat in it in the future, if they made a really good sword only possible to get via real money, and free players can only get a worse sword, that would be PTW.

I think this is good news. A lot of people are addicted to negativity and any sudden change triggers their addiction. This development team needs a boost with delivering quality gaming and financial backing. A lot of people will flip out but they are the people that would eventually flip out over something. They live for it. Freaking out about nothing has become a normal part of most people's lives. Gaming isn't for everyone and the "casual gaming community" is prime example. Something small changes and they burn the entire game to the ground with negative reviews and move on to the next bandwagon.

The game was definitely struggling so this is good. This is the monetary support they need atm. A lot of this recent update’s content was actually intended for the summer update (and summer island) but they ended up having to split it because they just can’t get things out due to financial stuff. This is good! People are doombraining too much and it’s causing too much panic. They still own their game but now they have their own “big parent company” providing the funding to hopefully hire some more people so they can be back on track. A lot of the datamines content was scrapped and hopefully we can see some of it come back 🤞
I wouldn’t be opposed to a subscription situation though. I play StarStable, which is a huge MMO - And while it has its own problems, because they have a monthly/yearly/lifetime subscription to play it, they can bring out updates EVERY SINGLE WEEK, whether quality of life, events, storylines or general graphical small changes around the world. That game’s been going on for 7 years. Subscriptions aren’t too bad honestly, so if it goes that way, I’m down for it.

I'm good with a subscription also... but wonder if they keep the pricing as is in the Premium store. I've spent over $250 on this game since last August, looking at it as "well I played WoW for years and gave them $15 a month plus bought the game(s)." I don't know if I could do subscriptions AND these store prices every month. I really hope they don't introduce FOMO into the plan. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

hard disagree, subscription games are HORRIBLE and if it turns to subscription i won't be able to play anymore. subscription makes me feel like i have to play a bunch in a month to make it worth the cost (i'm on disability) and then i feel guilty i can't play enough then i feel like it's not fun when i play cause i'm playing just to get my moneys worth and it's this whole thing and i freaking hate it. i cannot afford subscription financially or emotionally

yes & no, if they drop cosmetic prices then they are going to add more things to pay for to recoup & gain more... it is a business, so im kinda okay with cosmetics being middle-high range priced especially if it means its the only paid for content, eg: no pay to win.

Yep, keeping a positive outlook on this. I waited over 2 years to get my hands on Palia, I can give them another 6 months to a year to show me how they plan to go forward. Is the game exactly what I wanted ? No because of no proper trading - I regularly submit suggestions of a trading opportunity that seems to fit Palia, hopefully one of them will resonate with their idea. It is the only reason I don't play every day after the first month.

Daybreak Studios does NOT have a good history or reputation on what they do with the studio/games they acquire. LOTRO, they only publish, they aren't the developers. It pretty common opinion that they ruined H1Z1. I WANT to be hopeful and keep calm, but I can't deny the pit of doom in my stomach. I hope they don't screw the game up, I really do. We'll see I guess.

It means exactly what it says, you Pay to Win.
Daybreak is Notorious for implementing lots of "Brand New Game Features". They like incorporating brand new systems in their games.
As an example, if they decide to add combat, well, they can easily make it so that you can buy Flow infused Relics, or something so that you could finish an objective that would be otherwise very difficult to complete on your own.
Instead of Temples in Ederwoods, why not add Dungeons? To explore these dungeons, maybe there's secret areas you can only explore, and acquire special loot with Unique tools, only obtainable through real money.
These are all silly scenarios ofc, but my point is Daybreak has a habit of screwing over a loyal fan base by adding a bunch of unnecessary items, and systems to make it take long to progress your account. While there's no "End Game" now, it is an MMO Light. Some things follow a formula structure, so, it's not hard to guess that they would go this avenue, as it's nothing new to them. Just a new passionate player base to exploit unfortunately.

Sadly, Daybreak is known for absolutely NOT listening to their community and playerbase - Palia was a bad game in and of itself and they didnt listen to their players to improve and make it a viable game and Daybreak, likely, wont make it any better - Its a shame, because Palia might be one of the games with the biggest potential around, its just terrible as it stands

Good lord what a spiel they released. Why even bother? Them telling us things mean nothing nowadays. I only care about what they do since their words literally mean nothing. The ONLY PR person I know tells the truth is Yoshi-P. Absolutely everyone else I've seen/heard has lied 100% of the time concerning their goals and "we won't do this/that", only to do exactly this/that 6 months later when the tension dies down.
Glad I haven't bought anything in the cash shop yet. With all the layoffs, I'm not even sure who I would be paying anyways besides the higher ups that just changed and had no real effort on the game currently.
Here's to hoping the game remains the same. But I bet the 1st thing they do is add some kind of battle royale pvp map cuz pvp games is where the money is at and everyone is trying to be Fortnite.

I didn’t forget about H1. Same how I didn’t forget about DC Online like I mentioned in the video. But I also know the good they have done in other games like LoTRO, Planetside, Everquest (Not Everquest Next, they fucked that one up), etc.
However, if you are going to bring up H1 in discussions, you should also bring up the fact that was before Daybreaks new ownership.
I’m not saying Daybreak WONT destroy Palia, I’m saying that it’s a toss up. If we are bringing up the bad, you have to bring up the good.
And if you read the Glassdoor reviews of S6, Palia was heading down a dark path and something needed change.

    • @DoitiEtokNews
      @DoitiEtokNews 6 днів тому +2

@@PerzivalGG I mean, LoTRO is Standing Stone Studios, still under Daybreak's parent company, but Turbine/Standing Stone have never really followed Daybreak's way of doing things. They literally shut down PlanetSide 2 development for YEARS to work on a project they killed. Daybreak acquired and basically shut down Redeye/Verdant to get Everquest wholeheartedly and made EQ Next and 2 which are meh.
Honestly, H1Z1 is the only newish project (last decade+) that they control that is still functional. Every single other one is shut down or cancelled. Its hard to say its a toss-up. I'd give it less than a 1 in 20 to be alive within a year.

It's never the same call ever so I apply that to every aspect of my life when it comes to making decisions.
I am just choosing to take a breath on this and make an assumption in 3-6 months.
