I share this sentiment.
While I'm happy for the guys that mained him, it just means that anything that happens in SF story is just fodder , everything will always go back to status quo without changing.
From what i've seen, most works with stories that use/abuse single villain this way that SF does are reduced to shallow cartoon universes. Even some cartoons do a better job. And there's even the notable fact that action animes that have different main villains in each arc makes their narrative automatically more dense and mature than most cartoons, even if that anime isnt really dense and mature itself. It's an effect of constrast. I felt that difference in my first animes and i believe many felt it too. But SF devs just dont want to try doing something like that.

Very happy he's coming back, mained him in 4 alongside 2 other characters, didn't like him in 5 so much. Looking to main him again rn but that might just be the hype. Also, he coming out 26th June, so 2 weeks on Wednesday, or 16 days away as I type this!
Why TF are we getting two guest characters in a 4 character season pass? there are way too many veteran SF characters that should be coming back first. Save that crap for the final season, if at all.

Kinda in the same boat and I love SNK characters. But we have seen Terry a lot recently and Mai doesn't excite me. Would have preferred Ralf or Clark.
But the fact that we only get two SF characters is lame. Sure, it's cool knowing Capcom and SNK are on good terms again and I really want Elena back, but where is Dudley, Hakan, Abel, Seth, Alex etc man? We have a lot of other characters they could be tapping into and Terry has just been free real estate recently.

I was 14 in '92 when Bison appeared and it's been 32 years and we're basically stuck on the same characters... I can understand Ryu, Ken and Chun Li as the main protagonists to be present in MOST of the games but having an endless run of games featuring Akuma, Bison, Honda, Dhalsim... *yawn* Where is the SF3 producer he was the only one willing to gamble for freshness and actually stuck gold... then again being 46 I am no longer target audience for video games time is running out in real life must make the most out of it besides watching an occasional YT clip
I think Akuma is totally acceptable because there is potential to use him to advance the story of Ryu and evolve his own moveset, like SF6 did. But to me Bison, Honda, Blanka and few others have no place in SF sequels. Honda and Blanka in special are not even good chars in any single aspect, they are carried by their status of "SF2 veterans". Since a long time i believe it would have been better if SF2 used Gen and Birdie from SF1 instead. And Dhalsim also has little reason to stay in SF sequels... but at least he has a very unique and moveset in his favor, that makes him minimally justified to stay in the games. But Honda and Blanka are a ridiculous case of being carried by their status for 30+ years long, and stealing roster slots that could have been given to much more interesting chars.
I get your point but do you know sf3 is like the worst selling sf game to the point that it almost killed the franchise? I like the idea of new characters a lot but I understand why they are very cautious about it

They should have a winter 2024 or summer/autumn 2025 release character. Possibly going from October 24 to April 25 (6months) without a character release is insane. Then possibly also going from April 25 to December 25 (8months) without a character release is even crazier. That would mean in almost a whole years+ worth of time (october 2024-December 2025) Elena would be the only new character release.
Winter 2025 means January-February 2025.

Elena seem so random in this years pick of dlc, lore wise i think it makes more sense for cody to be here.
Also random because she isnt among the most logical choices for SF3 reps. In SF4 the first SF3 reps were Ibuki, Makoto and Dudley... and in SF5 the first SF3 reps were Ibuki, Urien and Alex. But now the first SF3 rep is someone far from the popularity level of those chars. (And ok, Alex isnt really popular, but the logic for choosing him is his status in the game's story, that still puts him above Elena)
It's better if Cody stay out of this streamlined boring game, though. They'll butcher him.
