This makes no sense. Why would this be software related? This is a connection issue
There are many possible causes, as you can see in the comment section, that could be related to the connection and so on. This particular case was related to a software update. In the first models, we replaced many cameras. I talk about 2012 MY.

Question for mazda connect on CX-5: do you happen to know why some models/trims support wireless car play while others only wired?
I own a 2019 CX-5 and I’m looking to upgrade to wireless Carplay.

Thanks, I wish I could have more time for posting. I'm not very familiar with old apple car play, but I mounted a few units, I know those wireless are newer models and that is a different entertainment system those are also built-in, and there is no need to install extra hardware.

Im driving Mazda 6 gj 2016 and when i put on reverse on the display is writen System not ready .. Any suggestions how to fix that ?
I had the same issue several years ago on my 2016. Took it to the dealer who replaced the camera under warranty and the problem returned after a couple of months. I tried everything I saw suggested on the internet and nothing worked. I went back and reread the manual, it said when closing the hatch push it down gently until it latches. The distorted image problem has completely cleared.
That's interesting, even if you open the liftgate the image should not be distorted, left ajar as well.

hi, JB, i facing this issue too, it happened after rainy days. Mazda customer service changed the camera, Screen and CMU and then they did update the software to latest version too, the issue still persists. i saw one of the comment mentioning it is connector issue. will try to do it myself.

I'm having the same issue, heard electrical contact grease on the connection for the camera will fix it. Gonna try it soon
@@metalmaiden We have replaced rear view cameras a few times not many of them but then those cameras did not work at all, the connectors to the cameras were in perfect condition in all cases, I would try to switch the camera from the known good vehicle if you have that possibility.
My car is 2018 Mazda 3 hatchback. I'd like to know is the issue only on 3rd gen Mazda 3 and most 2018 CX5? It is very annoying issue but Mazda impossible recall for the issue.
To be honest that is a very rare issue, unless people do not want to complain about it, and it happened on Mazda 6 and CX5

At this stage I recommend visiting the dealership, it might be sth with hardware or a camera and so on. There is no common solution to this problem.
1. Looks good and all, but "no one" can access those update files but Mazda / Mazda Dealership. So technically, a random person cannot download it on a usb stick and voilà problem solved.
2. Most common flickering issue with Mazda rear camera is the ground wire getting corroded / bad ground from the reverse light connector. ( Fix for this is either to cut wire or make new ground).
1. Well, check of software version and update takes place at every Mazda service

You do not need any software updates, just plug and play
Where can I download?
Those files are available at Mazda dealership, they will update it for you. I do not recommend downloading from unknown sources.
It's also possible that it's a hardware issue. See this TSB from the other side of the pond.

Better off with a Aftermarket system , factory stuff seems to be junk , for a couple hundred you can buy much better system all plug and play designed for Mazda 3 with bigger screens
