The Big 12 would be crazy not to add USF to their conference. They would solidify both the Orlando and Tampa market

Exactly UCF and USF could be the
FSU and Miami of the Big 12.

@@fullarmorofgod9638 I agree. I think it’s a missed opportunity for the Big 12 to not have a big rivalry like that

Living in Florida since 1991 and a KSU grad I would love USF in Big 12. People do not realize the size of the area. There is an enrollment of 50,000. The ease of travel and all that would bring to our conference. its a win situation in the long run.

I'd be happy adding San Diego St. and USF into the Big XII. USF provides a rival for UCF so they aren't so "on an island" and San Diego St. gives the conference a place in SoCal for both recruiting and for "after dark" windows. Forget SMU. Forget Memphis. These are the two places that have both location and size to compete, even though USF is in a down cycle.

Baker was professional but was actually pretty negative about USF. Couldn’t say USF fans wants the stadium. Alluded that USF might not be able to afford a stadium. Couldn’t agree that Tampa Bay area supports the USF program. Admits Jeff Scott needs to win now and hopes some of the transfer portal kids work out.

Baker is a hack. He is a Gator guy through and through. Even when the Bulls were doing good a few years ago, he hated on them.

USF academia (Research) aligned with the B1G Ten and would give that conference another major city and a showcase for Florida recruits. Would they be saving USF, yes but the long term advantages might be favorable.

@Aroon all schools in the Big Ten aren't AAU schools (Nebraska) but the idea is about expanding the brand. They have to think outside the Midwest and grabbing schools from the West doesn't make logistic sense.

    • @rudesciencedude4439
      @rudesciencedude4439 2 роки тому +3

Yeah, Nebraska was AAU when they joined, then lost that status. So they don't belong in B10 anymore. Anyway Nebraska culturally and academically belong with USF in the Big12

    • @k-hustlethesportspreacher5941

Eventually you can't keep grabbing AAU schools so you have to find that intangible. All the schools in the SEC aren't AAU and they are functioning just find. My view is changing to where I think the Big 12 may need to dissolve and the P4 is created with 20 teams each. The G5 or G6 is still relevant but isn't guaranteed a playoff spot.

@@k-hustlethesportspreacher5941 Some Texas fans have said they are "slumming it" with the SEC (Texas is an AAU). I know its not about schooling anymore for football players and in the SEC "it just means more" but as a B10 fan I like the idea that the institutions still have academic standards. In B10 country "academics just mean more" it's a culture of the conference thing.
... nothing against non AAUs or USF, I just like conference culture. If it makes you feel better I didn't like the idea of Kansas joining the B10 either when they talked about cuz of their culture

usf has gotten a free ride from UCF for long enough. Big 12 doesn't need them. HILARIOUS that usf fans think that they would get picked for the ACC over UCF. ABSURD!!!

The Big 12 isn't an ivy league academic tryout. usf can't even compete for championships in the AAC. Bottom feeders. usf adds absolutely no value for the Big 12 in anything and would likely kill the conference credibility.

Power 5 Conferences do not expand just to have more teams!!!
Schools has to add value, every school in AAC, MWC,Sunbelt, MAC C USA wants to be in a P5 conference but that's not possible the only reason Cincinnati Houston UCF was invited because Texas Oklahoma leaving left Big 12 with an emergency void so they invited the best G5 schools available along with BYU a national brand to get back to 12.
If the Big 12 start a network and have some success they're add more attractive markets.
The new schools coming in from C USA :UAB UTSA maybe FAU has great potential for growth they have Stadiums and facilities and growing fanbases so don't be surprised if they surpass USF if they don't step it up.
But with Texas Oklahoma gone to SEC leaving them with no marquee programs like ACC, PAC 12,SEC and Big 10 ,I don't think a network would generate much attention.
Now with the P5 possibly splitting of from NCAA ,NIL getting more and more complex it will be harder for G5 schools like USF,Memphis, Boise state, SMU,San Diego State afford to compete with P5 schools let alone join them.

    • @brandonh5360

Atmosphere has NOTHING to do with a stadium's physical location.
The product on the field means everything.
The Big 12 w/o Texas & Oklahoma is just another G6 conference.
