Thanks so much for the great review! We bought these for our oldest since he is a freshman and played in the z-cool pads since second grade. After seeing this, we are planning to buy another pair for our youngest who is playing in Jr High and just got his first stinger. Late subscriber to you're Channel. I've played HS-DII ball and now playing Semi-pro out in Wichita Kansas for the Kansas Cougars. XFL league. Struggle has always been finding pads worth spending all that money on, as a DE/TE/FB (6'3 250lbs) that "all purpose" title has fallen short many times. I really appreciate your in-depth guides to the gear we use to keep ourselves safe. Keep it up brother!
which shoulder pads are the best for protection?
We just received two pairs of these pads for my sons. 55's for our lineman and 15's for our linrbacker/fullback. They look to be great pads. My only problem with them us the way the locking mechanism on the straps works. If you tighten them up, they are difficult to unlock them, as you need to push the buckles tward the middle which tightens the belts. We will probably end up cutting the straps to add elastic in order to make them stretch out to uncle them.

Yeah its a little challenging. I suck in and have a friend help me put the clips in since I like my pads extra tight. Elastic will will be worse because the pads will easily be able to be pulled by a defender. Thats why the best pads use non-elastic belts.
I start as a fullback and an inside linebacker but, I also am a second string quarterback. Would you recommend these or the new xenith shoulder pads?
Which pads would you recommend bro, the Russell Carbontek or the Razor RZ7? im in a bind and having a hard time deciding which may be better
Hey matt, could you do a review of the Riddell SPK shoulder pads?
Got the OL/DL version about 3 games into the season. It's great being able to move around and not be hindered much by the pads, but there is damn near no padding in these. I could barely lift my right arm after hitting shoulder-to-shoulder with the lead blockers so often. Also, the wide neck opening doesn't allow you to wear a Cowboy Collar (neck brace) because it just slides around. After the season there's some tearing on the pads around the straps, but hopefully it's not going to mess them up.
Hey man, are you still using your Razor Pads ? I'm playing Halfback and thinking about getting either the Razor 15s or Riddell SPK Skill Pads... I mean I have to deal with a lot of hits do I need to reconsider maybe buying the spks bc the pads on the razors are too thin?

Out of all the shoulder pads you have which pair sit the lowest on the shoulder without sacrificing protection (not removing padding like you do)?
Hey IKF I am a tall speed receiver and like smaller low profile pads but I have broken my collarbone twice in back to back seasons so I really need pads with good protection too I guess. What would you recommend to give me good protection but also still good mobility and low profile. Thanks man and love your vids!

Hey, I had just bought these pads but the "R15" for RB/LB. I bought these in the small and they don't quite cover my whole sternum. Do you think that's an issue? Or should I exchange them for a medium?
Do these let your arms up because i use riddel power shock and my arms cant go up because the neck part its under my chin an upper neck sorry for bad english

My chest was 40 inches and my Shoulders were 19....Do you think a large in these would still be low profile and small? I play receiver and I just ordered these and I don't want them big! I'm only a junior so I have another year to grow into them but I still want them to be small.

Natalie Deyton I'd buy the gear pro tec razors in the rb model. but if you want to buy cheaper pads I use the riddell kombine sk and i play tight end and outside linebacker

They are pretty good i have the rz15 they are very comfortable
The problem with the screws at 13:20. Use a t-nut wrench instead. Nothing will work better.

Wont really matter, and if i was a kicker I wouldn't get such expensive pads since you're not going to be tackling or getting hit by anyone most of the time

+02phenom Just a tad heavier. Officially all the pads are under 5 lbs. CLS is also under 5.
