    I said that right away that this 2025 draft pick was the best move, some of my friends were mad that it was a first pick far away and my respond was that calgary would likely be way less dominant in 2025 compare to now so waiting a little bit more for a higher pick is probably a better option. I think Hughes saw that. Playing chess with a gm that was eager to make the playoffs again

    We took Monohan for Calgary as a favor so they can load up. We didnt go out hunting for him. Mind you hes a great player just bombarded with injuries. Tough to keep him if he can't stay healthy (Price n Weber were already issues, we managed to trade out Webby contract through multiple trades, Price still got 2 left).....Forget Monohan & Dubois, BRING BACK TOFFOLLI!!!

    Great point but.. complicated conditions, if you review them I don’t think there is anyway they get Calgary’s pick if it is a number 1, but the could get 2-10 but it depends if Calgary gets Florida pick from the huburdeau trade. You should do a show that examines all the scenarios

    Do not get too optimist I like Monahan but his injuries are serious and i wonder if he will heal well enough to play with Montreal??? there is Price and Galagar who are injured players we can see Gasly slower and slower. Why would Mtl sign Monahan? it not top shape is not going to help the HABS? that put the unjured i mean serious injuries. Montreal does not have a lot of space under the salary cap. this is why it will take several years because Prices contracts still has 4 years galagar 4 years ???

    Although there has been some positives I expect to see more negatives example the cost of keeping both Caufield and Nick will be too costly and not allow this team th4e ability to sign top end first line talent.
    If anyone THINKS the Habs can win the cup with Cole and Nick and Dach as their leaders/number 1 line they are extremely delusional.

    • @tonylloy327
      @tonylloy327 Рік тому +2

      I disagree on that. Suzuki is developing into a Patrice Bergeron-type center. B's won the Cup with that. And Caufield is capable of consistently scoring 50 goals. If Dach keeps improving and can stop getting injured every 5 minutes, he could be pretty solid as a second center. And with the depth of talent in the organization, it won't be a two-line team. Geeezz, the *last* thing we should be doing is paying 5 guys superstar salaries and having nothing left to keep any real talent further down the lineup. Like a certain team with a stupidly mis-coloured maple leaf on their jersey.

      Ask the black hawks how they did it with toews and Kane. Pitts is doing it with Crosby and Malkin. Lots of teams are doing it and have won cups doing it. We will be fine

      we literally made it to the cup final with nobody on the habs besides Price and Weber

    • @tonylloy327
      @tonylloy327 Рік тому +1

      @@melissakelly5813 That's just SO not true, though. Look at what's happened with the players who Bergevin brought to the team, since it was 'disbanded' because Price bailed on his teammates 2 days before the start of the season last year, and we got hit with a record-smashing number of injuries.
      Where to start? Lehkonen...traded for nothing...goes on to become a fixture on the Avs 1st or 2nd line, 1st PP, 1st PK...scores the series-winning goals in the semis and the finals (after doing the same for us to take out Vegas) and is the 'huge extra piece' who Sakic and MacKinnon and everyone on the Avs gives credit to for them winning the Cup.
      Toffoli...goes to Calgary and becomes probably their most dependable and reliable scorer ever since he got there. Almost single-handedly willed the Flames into a playoff spot this year, all on maybe the 'best-value' veteran contract in the NHL.
      Edmundson, Chiarot, Petry...Kevin Bieksa *still* talks about how perfect they along with Weber were in protecting a very fragile Price all the way through that playoff run. And now Bieksa's "fave" is Brett Kulak. Another great contract value player we discarded for diddly squat in the fire sale.
      Suzuki and Caufield...their contributions to that playoff run were incredible, despite their inexperience. They've shown since that it was no 'fluke'.
      Danault. It's sad that as Habs fans most of us (including Bergevin when he failed to re-sign him...the single biggest mistake he ever made as GM, IMO) never fully appreciated just how good he is. But they sure do in LA! It still pains me to watch those video clips with him and Caufield grinning and eating pizza after every Habs win in those playoffs, hearing him talk about how he loves "this team" and what it means to him. But now he's doing it for the Kings...hitting career highs...and everyone sees now just what an incredible two-way player he really is. The only center better in the entire league is Bergeron.
      I could go on, because I'm such a stupidly die-hard Habs fan, and I hate when people disparage that 2021 team that came within 3 wins of the Cup, and got denied it because Tampa so cheerfully cheated the salary cap, and Stamkos got away with a blatant holding-the-stick penalty on their 1-0 winning goal in game 5. Had that penalty been called as it should have been, and had Leks or Toffoli or Caufield or Gally on one leg scored the winner, we might not be even in this 'rebuild' situation right now.
      We were SO close. SO CLOSE!! And it was a full team effort that got us there. Not just Weber. And not Price, really, at all. (If you look up the stats, he was outplayed by every goalie the Habs faced in that playoff run, except against the Jets). But the team in front of him played as a TEAM, to a man, in every possible way.

    Lane Hudson has to start taking "steroids'" ( I am just joking here...) because at 5'10" and around 150 -160lbs, he will get hurt in the NHL; not as much in the regular season but he will destroyed in the playoffs. He will likely needs to simmer in the AHL to get used to the physicality of the professional game and let his body mature some more. He is at least 2 to 3 years away from the NHL...if he gets to put on a good 25 pounds !!! When you watch the playoffs, you then realize how valuable it is to have "size" throughout your lineup, especially in defense.

  • @galkanftw
    @galkanftw Рік тому

    He trusts the habs scouts ...LMAO ...they have been the worst scouts in the NHL for a very long time>I was shocked to see the main guy has been there for a very long time.
    Now am pretty sure that lead scout is FINALLY gone but idk about the rest of the crappy scouts.Hughes is oing a good job but unfortunately he has entered an era where the Habs cannot get any elite players with their top picks there is no Sydney Crosby or McKinnon or McDavid or Greatzky Messier etc etc instead we have to select form a whole pile of players that have ceilings of second line players.
    When you are a team starting from the bottom you NEED that elite pick or two or three geesh look how many good draft years EDM have had it is embarrassing they have not done better.
    This is why a great manager never stops keep flipping assets forever looking for possible first round picks to get that elite player because at some point he will come along.SO the Habs had ONE SNIFF in bedard but we lost out well we need more than one chance.WHat we do have to live with was missing out on Tkachuk geesh and not so much our pick "Kotkaniemi" didn't pan out as a great scorer but he was a SOFT player you can't possibly expect soft players to lead you through a long playoff grind.

    I would wave goodbye to Backlund as he leaves the dressing room.Hanfin will NOT demand more money as is i would trade him but that will be near impossible.Calgary reminds me exactly of the same mistakes the Habs have been doing for years and that is over paying players.
    I do not care at all about Monahan because he could only fit on a 3rd or 4th line where he will never produce.
    It is impossible to predict Calgary's situation in 2 years because we don't know how many stupid managers might be willing to help Calgary out and relieve them of their big contracts.
    There has been a lot of positive sure I agree there has been but that Slavkovsky pick was awful so I just hope we don't make another off the board pick like that over the next two drafts.
    I also want to remind that MTL gave up a first round pick for Dach a 2nd or 3rd line player.Dach is NOT a leader if he doesn't have better talent around him he has a ceiling of around 45 pts and we gave a first rnd pick for that ..../sigh.
